I personally think there is a big difference between Imperial/Pilsen and Bavaria. I think Bavaria is much tastier. No, it’s not after one, for me usually after five…..:-)
Andrew@CRMemberI’m sure importing beer is certainly possible but I would not expect to get rich off of it. I just think the expat market is too small here and Ticos overwhelmingly drink Imperial or Pilsen.
Andrew@CRMemberHysterical Scott! I just don’t get why people think it is okay to live here ILLEGALLY and then when it comes to getting fined, think they shouldn’t have to pay?! Don’t people understand immigration laws? This isn’t just a place for people to come, use government-provided services, and think it won’t cost them a dime. It’s not free anywhere else, why would it be free here? LOL!
Andrew@CRMemberI have to say that I was very offended by the article on leaving Canada. I just cannot imagine why it was allowed on this web site with phrases such as “no more turbans….” And, I’m sorry, don’t tell me “it’s a different point of view.” It’s simply racism and certainly not the type of attitude I want to see fostered here in Costa Rica or in any other place for that matter. I for one don’t want these types of gringos here.
Andrew@CRMember

[I guess we will all see before long. Maravilla, Take off those rose colored glasses you wear, and see what the secret elites really have in store for us all! Including mobster muslim Obama.
And even if he was a practising muslim, who cares?! Do you think your religion, Christianity is better than any one else’s? Just how many conflicts have been started around the world in the name of Christianity??
Andrew@CRMemberI’ve been to Limon a few times on my way to Puerto Viejo and even had lunch in downtown during one swing through the area. I had someone watch my car and paid a few hundred colones for the peace of mind. It was well worth it. I’m just not sure why someone would want to live in Limon as compared to Cahuita or Puerto Viejo. However, as the other commmenters mentioned, health facilities may be an issue. I would suggest you at least consider renting for a while.
Andrew@CRMemberI haven’t seen organized baseball for youth here–soccer is the main sport. All I have seen are some softball leagues for adults around Sabana Park in San Jose. Maybe you should check out Panama or Nicaragua instead? Baseball is just not a sport people are all that interested in or familiar with here, and they idolize soccer players. All I can say is thank God for MLB.com and live baseball on demand!
Andrew@CRMemberOkay, that was VERY funny Dave!
Andrew@CRMemberIsn’t Victor Guerrero one of the “recommend realtors” on here? If so, that’s not so good!
Andrew@CRMemberWhile it’s probably not the same, you can buy real lemon juice at Pricesmart.
Andrew@CRMemberIt’s about a half hour drive from San Jose, but Alida’s in Atenas is the best I’ve had in this country and I’m a pizza fiend as well. There’s also a great place in the Mall Cariari but I’m forgetting the name…..
Andrew@CRMemberThanks for the help. I’ll take a look. Of course, transito’s website is down at moment!
Andrew@CRMemberHey JPM, I thought your question was perfectly acceptable–geez! I also have flown Nature Air from San Jose to Dominical. They are quite good and I’ve had no problems with them. The only thing to consider is your timing. If you are flying into the international airport (SJO), and want to connect to fly to Dominical right away, note that Nature Air is at another airport–the domestic one–in Pavas so you’ll need to catch a taxi to get over there–it’ll take around 20 minutes I believe. TACA Regional flies out of SJO so if you are coming in from overseas, you can catch one their flights from there.
Andrew@CRMemberJohn,
Navsat is about the only good option in which to buy the CR road map to download into your GPS. You can get the map here: http://www.navsatcr.com
After you purchase it, they will send you the download instructions. Keep in mind that you will only have a few days or so to download it after purchase and follow their instructions EXACTLY, including the information they’ll ask you for regarding your model name/number and product serial number. I found them to be quite good.
Good luck.
Andrew
Andrew@CRMemberI recently bought the Garmin Nuvi 765 and really like it. It’s easy to use, has good clear screens and you can easily download the CR map (for an extra fee).
