angela456MemberThanks Scott.. Appreciate the quick response!!!
angela456MemberHi Munster,
My husband and I are just waiting for the approval of our Rentista application. We had to submit the bank letter stating we had $60,000 in an account with our application. They wouldn’t accept it without the letter. Also, the requirement has now changed as of Aug 12 to $120,000 for a married couple and more for children. You might have to search around for someone to write the bank letter for you.. we lucked out and had our local branch write it out.
As far as how much you would need per month, that completely depends on you. We met locals there living on $200 per month, an expat living comfortably on $600 per month and a couple living on $3000 per month.
When are you planning on going?

angela456MemberWe are practically neighbors, my husband and I live in Deerfield Beach FL. Just came back from CR. We really liked San Ramon. The weather was fantastic (in the mornings anyway, it is green season after all) views are spectacular and everything is fairly inexpensive there. Stayed there for a few days then took George Lundquist’s tour. Very informative if any of you have a chance to do it. Didn’t make it to Atenas but would love to hear opinions about it.

angela456Membergreat, will be in touch shortly. as soon as we figure out the pay phones that is…lol
angela456MemberVivian,
PLease please tell me how you are doing this. My husband and I are applying for Rentista status but my parents are not able to come up with a $60,000 lump sum. Are you applying as Pensionados???
angela456MemberMy husband and I are applying for Rentista status right now and are scrambling to beat the Aug 12th deadline where the requirement changes from $60K to $120K for the two of us. We put $60K into a CD in our bank here in Florida and had to do some sweet talking to have our banker write the letter for us. We feel better about doing this than putting the money into a Costa Rican bank. We are also flying to San Jose first week of July to have our finger printing done. Apparently it takes 30 days to have this go through so we are cutting it close but I think we’ll make it. We are using Residency In Costa Rica http://residencyincostarica.com/ to help us with this confusing road to residency. (Javiar is great, very knowledgeable and helpful.)
Looks like we’re really doing it! I’m so excited.Hope this helps a bit. Let me know if I can answer anything else.

angela456MemberYes we have done extensive research. Supporting ourselves won’t be a problem. More looking into the logistics of getting all the paper work in before the Aug deadline. We just found out that we have to get our marriage licence certified in Hawaii (where we were married). I’m hoping the Los Angeles Consulate will accept the certified document as the Hawaiian gov will not apostile it. UGH.. Every day learning something new. We will be there in June to get our finger printing done and hopefully will have everything then together before Aug. If anyone would like some insight on what we have learned so far, feel free to contact me. angela@symphonycondosales.com
angela456MemberHi Wanda,
My husband Keith (35yrs old) and I (28) are going to Costa Rica June 6th for a few weeks for an investigative trip. I am originally from Barrie, Ontario, my husband is from PA. We are definately interested in meeting other people who are moving or have moved to CR. Are you applying for Rentista or Pensionado status too? My parents also from Canada are going to be moving down with us as well. Life is just getting to fast paced and stressfull for us here in South Florida. (not to mention expensive) We are so looking forward to a change and an adventure! Will you be going to the Friday night get together at Big Mikes in Escazu?
Let’s keep in touch and maybe we can meet when we get there!Angela and Keith
angela456MemberMark,
My name is Angela and my husband’s name is Keith. We live in Fort Lauderdale and also will be moving to CR in the next few months. We have a large Weimeraner and also are worried about transporting him. Please let me know how you make out if you would. OH, and what made you decide on Quepos? Thanks!
angela456MemberThanks David, appreciate the referral. With all the talk that attorneys are a little shady there, we didn’t want to just pick one out of a hat you know?
I wish we knew for sure about this August deadline. Does anyone know if it is a sure thing? I keep reading conflicting stories.
