[quote=”Scott”]None of the Realtors you named in your email are listed on my list of Recommended Realtors so it’s probably safe to assume that you saw their companies listed in a Google advertisement which appear from time to time on my website.
I can assure you that our Recommended Realtors do respond.

I wish that was true but I have replied at least 3 times to a piece of property listed on this website using the mechanism provided, never to receive a response from the realtor, although it did say an email was sent and I would receive a response. So maybe not all the time.

bbrunscaMemberI have an iPhone 3GS and I love it. Easy to connect to any email even Microsoft Outlook. I use SKYPE on it all the time to call people back to the States. You can get unlimited calling to both the US and Canada really cheap. It is super. I still work and use both SKYPE and Outlook constantly. Now I do not have to sit at my computer. Just wait until something pops up on the iPhone or SKYPE rings. I also have a US SKYPE number so when people need to call me from the US they just dial that number and it rings on my iPhone (or computer). I use WiFi for both SKYPE and Outlook. Connects very easily to any Wifi.:D
bbrunscaMemberI have the same comments about this forum. It use to be and in some ways still remains informative but it recently has leaned to becoming a bashing of America – not that it does not deserve it. But I too thought this was to be a focus on Costa Rica living. I also think the author of this site has become very political overitme and not sure why. Appreciated it much more when I could learn about this country and not rehash always what’s wrong with America. There are plenty of sites that you can go for this type of discourse and youtube has tons of videos that cover just about everything. It is very interesting. We live in a world with many problems that can be overwhelming. I moved here for the peace and tranquility of this beautiful little country and do not need the nonsense in some of these discussions. Is there that many unhappy people here? Or is this how you all deal with not being in America anymore?
bbrunscaMemberHello, I have another question: is the road pass Poas over to Sam Miguel open yet? I use to drive from Alajuela to Venecia via San Miguel but that stopped when the earthquake destroyed the road. I have heard different stories about its status. It now takes me about 2.5 hours to go to the airport where it use to take me about 1.5 hours. Any input would be appreciated.
bbrunscaMemberI hope none of us believe we are “saviours” of this country. Now we are mixing religion with politics. This is really getting scary. But my daddy use to teach me to have good business sense (wish I had listened to him more) and my gut tells me that maybe this country has a great opportunity here that it may not be taking full advantage of.
bbrunscaMemberAnd by the way, I do not think we are anybody’s saviour. Gees we can’t save ourselves, can we? The simple point is that the baby boomers are retiring, they will look for places to retire and I just think it would be good business for Costa Rica to try and entice as many as it makes sense to retire here. Of course, I understand that one can over do it with not very good results but there is a big opportunity for this country. Maybe you don’t agree.
bbrunscaMemberActually David, no surprise at all. Currencies do fluctuate. But watching the dollar get a little stronger against other currencies but getting weaker here just makes one think alittle.
bbrunscaMemberReally do not want to make this a political discussion. Getting pretty tired of all the stuff that flies around this site anymore. Understand the mechanisms of the US government, etc. but just wondering about the future of the dollar here since many retirees like myself are on a fixed social security income. Is the goal here to devalue the dollar as much as possible and make it difficult on Americans. But I am not sure why Costa Rica would want to do this since I hope we are somewhat contributing to this country in a monetary way. I know I am. The baby boomers are just starting to retire and one would expect with the right posturing Costa Rica would look like a good choice for these people to spend their dollars.
bbrunscaMemberHola David,
I thought that would be the case but an attorney said it was not “good enough” and I am still waiting to hear from him on what is “good enough”. Somehow I has this thought that it might be due to that SS will not be depositing money into my account in Costa Rica until my earnings go down, until then I do not meet the criteria? I was just wondering if anyone else had been in this same situation.

bbrunscaMemberYou just brought up an interesting point. Costa Rican banks are offering a higher interest rate on colones versus the dollar. The dollar no longer seems to be gaining ground on the colone. The exchange rate seems to stay fairly constant. Therefore doesn’t it make sense to put your money into a Costa Rican bank in colones just to get the higher interest, especially if you are living there?
bbrunscaMemberHello,
I bought my farm from Guy a few years ago. Really did a great job from the beginning to the end. Looked at a large number of properties with him. No pressure – just a lot of help. He recommended an attorney and everything went smoothly. Him and his wife took the time to walk us through the complete process.

bbrunscaMemberHello Roaslind,
Thanks very much for your reply. Would love to get as much information as you can send us. Our property is in Puriscal – up in the mountains, over 3000 ft. My wife rides English and I ride Western. My wife was born with horses and I have recently been introduced to them. They are just wonderful. I love Rocky Mountain horses. I have a bad neck and Rocky Mountain gaits are just wonderful. Right now we have a half Peruvian Paso/TWH and 2 quarter horses. Just bought a 1/2 Paso Fin/Quarter horse. She is for me. I need something small though my wife would love to have a Thoroughbred!
We were wondering if horses brought in due well in Costa Rica. I can understand the problems near the beach.
I am sure you will hear from my wife!
Best,
Bob -
