Saratica- gated or non-gated? how long have you lived in CR and what has been your experience with crime?
blackjackdsMemberImxploring…Union is actually on the right track…what do you think will happen if all the homeowners got guns? Will the robbers be defeated and suddenly become upstanding citizens? After hearing the stories of this forum the robbers seem pretty intent on robbing you by whatever means necessary…So my point is if all the homeowners have guns, the only choice for the criminals is to get guns as well. I am struggling to see how that is going to make things better.
blackjackdsMemberDo you really think arming yourself and shooting people when they come in is the best way to handle the situation? I am not saying I have a better solution but if everyone has guns its only a matter of time before the criminals start bringing guns too and then everything gets more dangerous. If somone poisoned my dog to steal something I would absolutely want to shoot them in the head and hope they die slowly but having guns in America to defend ourselves has just led to the criminals having guns as well. They should just not let the criminals in the country in the first place.
blackjackdsMemberBjallen- that really sucks, sorry for your loss. I assume your not in a gated community? Is security better in a gated community? Before hearing all these stories I would never have considered buying in a gated community but I dont know if I could handle having my dogs poisoned all the time.
blackjackdsMemberSeriously poisoning dogs. That is f*cking rediculous.
blackjackdsMemberIs this level of robbery true for everyone here on the board? What about a property management company?
blackjackdsMemberthanks for the comments, this site is a dream come true. I would NEVER buy a house in a gated community full of americans and not learn spanish. I feel like it is very disrespectful to see these listings for land where some american is going to parcel off 80 acres into 160 plots and build and sell houses like I see in my neighborhood. That seems to defeat the purpose of moving to a country like CR. In my opinion it would be better to have a rule where no matter how much land you buy you can only build one or two houses on it and that would stop greedy developers from bulldozing the rainforest away to create suburbia. I want to live with nature not live where nature used to be

blackjackdsMemberChetohrt- that was a very nice article. Do you live in or own a house in Cocles now? It is so crazy to have so many different opinions from so many people about such a small area…
blackjackdsMemberhow long does it take you to drive to the beach? also, what is your opinion of the second part of my question regarding land list prices and actual sale prices?
blackjackdsMemberOk I have been reading this page for a while and I am still unclear. If the new immigration law does get passed, so worst case scenario, what does that mean for becomeing a costa rican citizen? How much would that cost or what is so bad about this bill?
blackjackdsMemberI live in Minnesota right now where it is 9 degrees F today. I am sure you are right that too much heat could be as bad as cold but right now I cannot really comprehend that 🙂 How far into the mountains do you have to go so that it is not as hot? I love the ocean and want to be able to get there quickly. Also, when you look at real estate for sale on this website and others (caribe-sur) for example, is the listed price pretty much the bottom line or is there usually a little to a lot of wiggle room?
blackjackdsMemberthat is the kind of info im looking for. I am curious if the new marina and the chinese investment in that part of the country will clear things up. I have also heard it was dirtier and druggier than the pacific. have you guys found it to be cheaper to buy land and build or buy a pre built house? Is it cheaper to go through a realtor online or find someone in town when you get there?
blackjackdsMemberI am not asking if there is anything like Tamarindo there. I am asking what it is like there. Specifically land prices, infrastructure, crime rates, culture, everything. It is hard to find accurate information on the internet because everyone is trying to sell you something so they won’t tell you the bad. I am looking for objective information.
