We have renewed our cedulas 2 times, it the same procedure.
Go to BCR , in Samara, there will be a person dedicated to Cedula renewal. They will give you a piece of paper that List what you should bring with you. You should wait till 4-5 weeks before your cedula expires to make an appointment.
The first item you will do is call the 900# for an appointment (900 0034639). This is a toll call, so make sure your phone can make such a call. This call will be a minimum c3400.
You will bring a photocopy of the following:
1) Caja receipt, most recent.
2) Carnet
3) Cedula
4) Proof of exchange of dollars to colones.
They will record the last 6 months currency exchange totals. We listed, by month, the total exchanged, which made it Easy for her. You pay in colones, approx. c65,000. They will send your new cedula to the Post Office in Samara. It takes about 10-14 days.

David, your right, by the airport just before the new hospital. There also seems to be a new high rise hotel being built right next to the Walmart.
Think Hiper Mas.
If you know where there was an Hiper Mas in Alajuela they have all been renamed to WalMart.
Actually, they built a new stand alone building just as you come off the pista on the right…..believe me you can’t
miss it. They had their grand opening June21….it was packed.

We have been told that you now have to have a police report that says you have no criminal record. Anybody know anything about this?

David…..We agree with you on using Arden for the consolidated container. We were not happy with the quality and high price of the major appliances here…..so we decided to buy in the states and use Arden to ship them to us. We were going to Houston anyway on business so we purchased
the s.s. stove, s.s.frig , s.s.hood for stove, patio furniture and some small odds and ends. The savings on the frig alone paid for the shipping to CR and delivered to our front door. Life is good.

David, sounds like you want what we got 3 weeks ago. We brought our 3G Razors from the US….we went to ICE and got the basic cell phone package….gives you 60 minutes and 30 text mgs and no contract if you have your own phone for 2900 colones per month. They will try to sell you one of their phones…if you buy one of theirs you will be required to enter a 12-18-24 month contract for a lot more money. Hope this helps

We have used Aerocasillas for the last 5 months…..our opinion….they are just o.k
It still takes 2-3 weeks to get a letter to the US…..and that’s using their Express
Priority service. Their charges seem fair…. .80 for an incoming letter.
Maybe this is the norm.
If anybody knows of a better service at a fair price let us know.

I guess I was more interested in “what do you load into the Garmin for directions”…
without having an actual address.
