You mean…..FAT? :lol::lol:
boginoParticipantIn the meantime….what was once a beautiful nature setting with an incredible landscape will become trashed as the area gradually evolves into a Tourist Trap.
boginoParticipantAm curious: Which brands of meters and strips are readily available in CR?
boginoParticipantNot surprised to read that especially considering it was authored by the Trash: Barbara Boxer.
boginoParticipantI would imagine with the kind of money he has he could drive drunk wherever he wants to.
boginoParticipantThere are boatloads of rental options and leads on Craigslist as well as other sites. Finding a rental in Costa Rica should be no problem at all as there are a abundance of available options as long as you’re willing to do a little bit of legwork.
boginoParticipantI actually started my working career working for Bank of America (as a file clerk). However, I worked for the Bank of America that was founded by a great American immigrant named A.P. Giannini. It used to be a great bank but lost its way years ago when it was sold, as I recall, to Nationsbank and eventually morphed into the monster it is today. They should remove the “Bank of America” name (originally Bank of Italy) since what that name represents today is disgusting and degrading to the legacy of the original founders of the Bank.

I’m not being cynical. I really don’t have an opinion on this. Am just curious what others might think since generally the 2 (drugs and prostitution) go hand in hand.
boginoParticipantLOL!!! Pardon the cynicism….but that’s like saying I took 1st place out of 2. Look at the make-up of the rest of Central America and it’s no wonder C.R. is light years ahead of their neighbors.
boginoParticipantWell…my story is slightly different but still a story that demonstrates kindness and goodwill:
I was driving up the Costanera somewhere south of Dominical about 4 years ago roughly when I almost ran over a sloth that was about a 3rd of the way across the highway. I swerved around him just in time and then backed up once I realized it was an animal. I was by myself and no one else in sight and trying to figure out how to move the guy with those gigantic claws. Waited around for 5 minutes pondering what to do when a small truck with a couple of Tico’s pulled up. One of the guys walked into the bush and came out with a long stick which we then slid underneath the sloths hands and claws and he grabbed onto then the 3 of us carried him across the highway into the bush and found him a tree a good distance away from the road and hopefully added some years to his life. I’m pretty sure I posted a picture of the sloth in the pictures section.
February 26, 2012 at 8:11 pm in reply to: New CR law punished employees that are not efficient at work #198922boginoParticipant
Public employees that do not process applications and documents in a timely manner will now be disciplined by their employers, according to the Law to Protect Citizens.
When an employee is given notice the first time, they will be suspended without pay or benefits for three to eight days.
If a second notice is issued to the employee, he or she will be suspended without pay or benefits for eight days to one month and if the employee is given notice a third time, he or she will be fired, without the employer having to pay any benefits.

A job is not a “right”. It is a “privilege”. Whatever happened to the concept that in order to keep your job you have to meet the minimum standards of your employer and if you want to move ahead in your job you must excel in your job performance. Government jobs are absolutely the worst when it comes to enforcing those standards and consequently too much is taken for granted by those to believe they are “entitled” to there jobs.
boginoParticipant
Fairy tale ending. That’s really cool. I love the southern Dominical and OSA area the most. Then la fortuna and Arenal.
Agree with the above 100%. Just completed my 2nd trip in 2 years to Osa. For nature lovers it’s 2nd to none.
boginoParticipantSince we’re on the subject of Arenal and surrounding areas, any comments at all as to the availability of medical care in the area? I know there are probably Clinicas with general practitioners and seems like the area in general is very popular with retirees so wondering whether there is much in the way of specialists (cardiology…gastroenterology…internist…etc.) in the region or whether one has to be prepared to travel to SJ for those types of visits. Is there is hospital in the area? Thx.
boginoParticipantYou did not mention anything about budget but I myself have stayed on several occasions at Hotel Parador and that is second to none in my opinion. A bit pricey but won’t break the bank and great way to impress a first time visitor.
boginoParticipantYou probably just added another 10 years to your life expectancy. Pura Vida!
