We are working with Sergio now, and have been very happy. Because I have Vista on my computer, Sergio has offered to load it into my Garman when we arrive next week. – Always get lost in San Jose and need my GPS.

    Hello all,

We are coming to CR 11-30-07 for 5 months to secure permanent housing, as my husband and I are retiring at that time. Hopefully in the Atenas area. We are in Nashville, TN and have an 11 year old Bichon (15 #’s) and have a list of 4-5 things my vet would like to know about CR’s vetenarians care of pets. Can someone highly recommend a vet in that area?

We are coming there Dec 1- April 30 to find a house in Atenas. Thought it would be better to buy a used vehicle there, because the import duty on our Tahoe would be astronomical. Would it be better to buy a year old smaller SUV and ship it there? Your advise on this would sincerely be appreciated.

    Hello,
We are in a position that we may be very interested in renting a home in Atenas and it may be very soon.
We planned to move from US to Atenas next Spring, however things are moving much quicker than we thought. And in fact, VERY quickly.
We found a home we really liked in RocaVerda, however it was sold hours after we looked at it. We would be interested in discussion.
    Regards,
    S&P

Thanks Ripple – I was there for 10 days last January on the first exploritory mission. Our intent is to first bring my wife down on this trip to see the country and get to know the culture a little bit. She thinks that this is like doing the move from Detroit to Nashville – You know as well as I do that this is not the case.

We intend to move down there mid 2008, and rent for a year so we can really check out things. We do have tico friends here who have family there, and are willing to help us not get the shaft. Too many real estate companies down there. The reason for Atenas is the weather, proximity to San Jose, and the people.

Hope this gives you a better idea of our intent.

    Kind regards,
    Pete

    Mustardgirl,
Yes, we have an appointment with a realtor that we got from this website. I was there last January on an exploritory mission and really liked the Atenas area because of the mountains, climate and proximity to San Jose’. Will probably buy there as our main home, but I really love the South Pacific area and may want to invest there also. Hope you have a great trip.

    Ruth,
I thought about that, but I don’t think there is enough time in our schedule to go that far. Do they have power boating on the lake there? Right now, I own a boat brokerage company and would be interested to know. Thanks

    Mediatica,
Thanks – the plan after we leave the Atenas/Grecia area was to go to Puntarenas, then on to Quepos, Dominical, Uvita, and then back to San Jose’. Will check out Esterillos Este also.
    Thanks again

Thanks for your quick response – just made reservations at the La Terraza Guest House in Grecia based on the many positive reviews. Hope it is a good choice.
    Thanks again

They contacted me also, but because they would not dislose any information and I could not find out anything about the company – I chose to pass on the deal. – Also, if you look at the buildable size of the lot, it’s not much to build a home on.
