Thank you all for the advice. I am sorry I haven’t thanked you sooner but I am in the States and in the middle of University work. My concern is that I only have a couple of more days in the States. Can all of this be done by mail? I mean, do I have to physically be in the United States to get everything done? Also, I am legally married to a Tica. Our marriage is already in the Registro. I was under the assumption that would make my residency application easier, but that doesn’t seem to be the case.

I got a letter of good conduct from my local police station, considering that I do not have a criminal record. I’m hoping that will be sufficient! If not, does anyone know where I might get a background check for residency?

Thanks, that makes things a lot easier. I will go and ask for it. My aunt is a notary. I am in NY for two weeks, so I am hoping that I can take care of it in that time. (at least get the processes going). I think they would be able to get it in Spanish too, but, if not, I know someone in Costa Rica that is an official translator.

There is a bar in Zapote that is called Stan’s Irish Pub and they have a HUGE selection of beers from all over the world. You might want to check out how that place is doing…In my experience, Ticos are not people who will change their brand loyalty to Imperial or Pilsen.

Again, thank you all for the concern and advice. I’m not planning to put all of my eggs in one basket or go all in. What I can say is that I am thinking of ONE car to start with and that’s going to be from 2000 to a 2005…not so new, not so old either. I don’t think it will hurt to test the waters. Risk and reward, right?

I’ve actually had a very bad experience with my car I bought down here already and I am hoping to use that painful experience to create a positive situation. I would like to bring down and present quality cars and have the information to back them up!

To expand on this thread. Has anyone had experience with importing a car and flipping it for a quick profit? I’ve heard a quality used car can be sold quite quickly.

I know that Vonage has service here. It is a landline phone and the quality is excellent.

No, it’s coming out of the faucets. It’s pretty noticeable, and I know it will end (because it has before in my other apartments) I just wanted to know if anyone else knew what it is…

I see Honda parts for sale most places in the central valley. I don’t think you will have a problem. Just know that the parts will be quite expensive…

Economicos.com usually has the most reasonable rental prices. It is in Spanish, but I believe there is a translate option. Just go into Bienes Raíces and then Propiedades en alquilar

Thank you all so much for the information! I think the naturalization process sounds a lot more doable (and less expensive!).

I appreciate you all taking the time.
