MemberI have heard that some Tico people work for as little as two dollars per hour, but I would never pay less than five dollars per hour. Or, offer $3. and additional pay for a job well done, bringing the rate up to an average of $5. an hour.
Workers take longer coffee breaks in Costa Rica, so you must take that into consideration when deciding on a rate of pay.
It might be better to offer a sum for the job, but pay the money as the project progresses. Never pay in advance.
I’m not an expert on hirring Tico workers, but that’s the amounts and methods I will use when I move there next year.July 7, 2010 at 9:40 pm in reply to: 46 US warships & 7,000 US Marines on route to Costa Rica? #171796Canadianman
MemberThe new stadium in San Jose which was donated by China has the American government thinking about that countrys long term intensions. Here in Canada three politicians were just discovered taking orders from foreign countries, one was China. That concern, combined with the US fighting drugs, could be the reasons they are visiting Costa Rica with so many military personnel.

MemberMr.Oldham has been a missionary to Cuba since 1979, and is very familiar with living with Hispanic people. His next mission to Cuba starts in October. He and his wife contribute over 10% of their own personal income to support a family of eight in Holguin Cuba, and have did so for thirty years. He will have no problem adjusting to the Tico people, as they are much like Cubans, very friendly. Anyone who has been to Cuba knows that Costa Rica is a much easier place to live in, than communist Cuba. Isn’t it strange how people pounce on others who simply “tell it like it is”. Mr.Oldham will have more Tico friends in a year than most Expats make in a decade. His church affiliations in CR will guarantee that.

MemberWhy is it that so many of us Canadians live in absolute denial? I did not see one false statement in Mr.Oldman’s comments. I was born in Toronto in the 40s, I’m also an eye witness to how the quality of life in Canada has deteriortated since 1965, when the immigration flood gates were opened up to the third world. Most Muslims are good people, such as my co-worker and fishing buddy is. Unfortunately! A good percentage of them are working as fast as they can to take over Canada. That is not my opinion, it’s a fact of life, everyone here knows that, especially the present politicians. We all have our reasons for leaving the US, Canada, Europe, etc., and Mr.Oldham is entitled to have his reasons too “isn’t he”?
I’m leaving Canada for much the same reasons. I have a weak stomach, and just can’t stand watching a good thing die “The country of Canada”. I bet all of you think Mr.Oldham is a white person “don’t you”?Canadianman
MemberDue to family sizes and immigration policies, experts have indicated that Canada will have a Muslim government by 2040. Muslim groups are already having conferences to discuss how they will run the country. More Muslims have immigrated to Canada than to the US, and Canada only has 35 million people, which why it is easier for them to take over the government. The health care system in Canada was once the best in the world, and it just hurts us old guys to see that it died. I have no family doctor, and not a hope in hell of getting one. It was amusing to read that someone said immigration is good for Canada. 65% of all females who have immigrated from Jamaica have six fatherless children and are on welfare for life. Most of the males are drug dealers and are responsible for almost all gun related crimes in Toronto. In regards to seniors living in the same homes as there adult children… Cambridge is the only city in Canada that charges $3,000 for such permission, which comes with a 33% property tax increase. I read that in the newspaper, and it was on radio. Seniors do not financially contribute to betterment of communities, and only cause longer lines at the walk in clinics. One alderman said they small like moth balls, and take up all the good seats at the malls food court, and only buy tea. Municipalities in Canada do what they can to discourage elderly parents from living in the homes of their adult children, even if it means forcing them to make extortion payments for the privilege.
