Lyncota,
I just checked the status and ours too has been changed back to inactive as it should be. The total tax due has been reduced as well. It is slightly more that last year, but at least not double. I am not sure why this glitch appeared. I think last year the same thing happened. I guess I shouldn’t check until mid Jan. So glad yours was rectified too. We are in CR now so will be paying by the end of the month. Cheers
::)charmeyParticipantI just went on line to the Nacional Registro website to check how much is due for the 2015 Corporation Tax. We have always been an inactive company but now it shows as active with a tax due of 201,000.00 colones. Has anyone else had this happen to them again? I am wondering if maybe it is too early in the year for the website to be accurate.:( When is the payment due? Don’t mind paying the tax, but not for an active corporation when it is not.

She might be able to help you. also check the macros — they carry some of those things. almost all grocery stores carries every bean you would want. seeds and nuts are plentiful here, grocery stores carry them and the macros have them.[/quote]
Maravilla,
Thanks for the information in regards to Pura Vida pantry. I see that the store is located in Herradura. I will check it out to see what products are available for sale. Excuse my ignorance on the term “macros”. This newby does not know what that means.
I have looked in the Super Mega’s, Pali’s etc and have not been able to find nuts and seeds other than in small packages.
ThankscharmeyParticipantDoes anyone know where I could buy tofu, dried lentils, garbanzo beans, bulgar wheat, other grains and misc dried beans, etc. I would like to buy nuts such as almonds, cashews and sunflower seeds too that are used in a lot of traditional vegetarian receipes? I am new to the Parrita/Jaco area and have not yet found where I can buy these products, especially in bulk.
charmeyParticipantSeveral people have mentioned that they have brought some household items down with them in suitcases. I have been considering bringing some kitchen items, linens, towels, lamps, a radio and a few misc tools etc. down to Costa Rica this way. My husband and I could each bring an additional suitcase for this purpose.
We are just starting to set up a small home that is being built and we need to furnish it for the first time and would like to have some basic items right away. Does anyone think that I might have any problems with duty, taxes or anything else bringing in these items this way?
Thanks for any suggestions.charmeyParticipantDo you have to be a resident to take advantage of the tax free amount in Golfito? If we only have tourist statis, can we still use the exemptions?
ThankscharmeyParticipantThanks for the info. So I assume that the hotter drier beach areas would not be suitable for growning avacados. A higher elevation away from the ocean seems more likely.
charmeyParticipantAlexgil, I see in your last posting that you mention avacados. We have been trying to find out what are in Costa Rica would have the right climate to grow avacados successfully. Could you tell me what area you have your avacaods in? And do you get a fairly decent crop of fruit. We do not want to grow commercially, just for our own use.
