    Scott,
I know that such things are not done for altruistic reasons, virtually most if not all goods arrive through Limon, which is why the construction of a huge modern port facility in Moin is top of the list.

Plans for widening Ruta 32 are being drawn up (financed for good or bad by the Chinese). I know that the construction of “international Airports” has been discussed for various areas in Costa Rica but it would make sense that Air Cargo as well as tourist access would be a smart move for CR (personally I would be happy if Nature air would just renew flights to Limon).

My point in responding to this article is that it’s easy to take cheap shots towards an area of the country that has historically been ignored by the central government, but which has nonetheless developed its own unique culture, Deserving and finally getting some respect and attention.

I thought the be afraid…. be very afraid overtones of REALTOR Michael Simmons article was inappropriate (although I did enjoy the white water rafting part 11 down the Pacquare River, one of my favorite excursions).

Scott, For some reason I can not Copy and paste the article on this computer but google Limon airport expansion, this is being proposed by the Mel group and being studied by the Costa Rican government as part of an overall Limon infrastructure upgrade plan.

And how would limiting a person from visiting Costa Rica
frequently (say three ninety day visas a year with several
weeks between each..visiting family in the states/country of
origin) be useful for controlling Illegal immigration? I don’t see the logic. If the intention was to prevent using Nicaragua
or Panama as perpetual 72 hour stopovers why not
just state this? It would seem that one would eventually
run out of options if the same country/stopover point could never be used again in any type of sequence.

For a non-resident, I wonder if the provision stating that
one cannot go to the same country twice (in a row?)between
90 day visas would apply to a persons country of origin?

Thank everyone for their responses, now that Arden has informed me of additional
options to a full or 1/2 full container available through her company, I believe
that an additional cost effective option is available. Now to determine what
    we can’t live without..

Right on target in relation to our addiction to a war driven economy, and the fact
that our politicians are in the hip pockets of the Health care corporations. The
problem is, that writing and self-enforcement of regulations written by this industry
is the equivalent of keeping the fox in charge of the hen house. This has already
been tried and is in fact the status quo. The only thing that will accomplish
health care reform is a change in heart of the American people, and the realization
that it is unethical for our country to allow Health Care to be the number one (profit driven) industry in the United States. Since you are a 60 year old male, I am glad that you have lived long enough to soon become enrolled in Medicare,
(A “Socialized”, Non-profit Government run Health care system).

Just had to respond to the health care question. I have worked as a technical
Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (non-physician) for 30 years in the USA.
To me, the argument comes down to greed and selfishness. Greed from the
Health Care/Insurance industry, and selfishness from fellow Americans who
currently have health care insurance, or are on Medicare who do not care if
there are 50 million Americans who do not have health insurance either because
they cannot afford it or have pre-existing conditions. In the Cardiac Cath Lab
I previously worked in, we would perform approximately 20 procedures per day,
(Approximately 20-30 min per study). The physician performing the Cath would
be paid a minimum of $2500 per study….figure it out, $50,000 per day, before
stepping into their office practice. The hospital would charge approximately
$17,000 for a Cath involving a stent placement. The insurance companies would
get a discount, but if the patient did not have coverage, they would be charged
the full amount. Who deserves to make this kind of money on the backs of the sick and dying? Yet some Americans will kick and scream about “socialized medicine” as if this is a test of their patriotism.

My wife is also from Jamaica and in fact we just returned from a visit to
Port Antonio and Montego Bay several weeks ago. I would also suggest that you visit
the Caribbean side of Costa Rica. We did, and ended up buying a House in Cocles,
near Puerto Viejo. The area reminded my wife of Jamaica as it was in the 60’s
and 70’s. WeLovecostarica.com archives have several interesting articles on
    this area.

Blackjackds, We own a house in Cocles, which is two km south of Puerto Viejo and
have been down 10 times over the last 3 years since we purchased it. Eventually
we will retire there. Everyplace has it’s positive and negatives, and the only
way to determine if it’s the right fit is to actually go there and see for
yourself, instead of listening to rumors. Spirit has some really great deals
on flights, a bus ticket from San Jose to Puerto Viejo is $8, you can get a nice
room for less than $50/night and the food is reasonable and outstanding.
Works for us! True anywhere, treating people with courtesy and respect goes
a long ways towards having an enjoyable experience. Just practice the same
prudence you would have while traveling in any country and you will do
    just fine while there.
