a little extreme but to each his own 🙂
All one has to say to such callers is ” you are invading my privacy and thats an offense and if you continue I will be forced to report you to the relevant authorities”. Trust me it stops them in their tracks. Well certainly in the USA.
I can understand your frustration. I still live in Southern California and I get calls on my land line from an outfit called “Cardholder Services” that at first called me once a week and now it’s almost daily. I don’t have caller ID on my land line, as I think caller ID is a scam from the telephone companies, but I do have it free on my Sprint cell phone. I think it’s a scam from the telephone companies because you have to pay for it, and most of the calls were private or the numbers were not shown from the caller.
Anyways, check cardholders services on the web and you’ll see what I mean. So now when they call I play along or even call them “hijos de p*t* if they have a latin accent or I use the “n” word when I notice an ethnic gal. I have asked them to remove me from their call list but since they use what is called “robo calls” I still get the calls. It’s interesting because they can’t get a word edgewise by me, they get a lung full from me! I’m bilingual, so I can use the filthiest of both Spanish and English curse words. I think I’m almost to the point of enjoying their calls. LOL! One black chick responded by saying I was a redneck and I said that might be, but you’re still a “n r.”

Is the Grecia farmers market open daily or only on certain days?
The market is open every Friday afternoon and Saturday mornings till midday but get there early as many of the stalls are closed. If a national holiday falls on either day then they do have an alternate day in the week.
As far as I am aware, you will still have to purchase it at Bancrédito in Liberia. On Saturday the facility is only open till 12 noon, and on Sundays,it is closed.
Thank you.
Thanks for much for all the input! While we do plan on spending some time in the area we choose before buying we are trying to narrow down the areas to concentrate on. We are looking for (hopefully) daytime temps in the 70’s for the most part – and being rural is not really a problem for us – more of a perk. Any information you can give is much appreciated 8)

We live up in San Isidro, Grecia and the weather temps are just perfect. I can email you many more details if you want.

Scott I sent you a private email but for the record I have no desire to continue with this discussion. Thank you.

Scott FYI – I did not say I sent emails to your email address but to the ones the Realtors themselves advertise. I also did not say that they advertised on your website but to clarify I went into the Realtors websites AFTER getting their sites from your website. Does that clear up those 2 points? And I will send you copies of my emails tat I sent directly to the realtors to you via a PM.
Hi Everybody,

Does anyone know where I can buy gluten free bread in the San Jose area? I want to pick some up on my way to La Fortuna.

    Thanks in advance

    Judith:D
Hello Judith,
Quite a few shops now sell gluten free bread but we have a wonderful baker called Tom who makes it for us but he lives in Atenas and you can order from him. He is always at the Grecia farmers market on a Friday and a Sat. If you want his contact details let me know.
I am grateful that I have my roadside assistance in house.

I drive a 1980 Datsun pickup and Marcos has come to my rescue five times.

Once, while driving the neighbors 2001 Chevy SYV, the Pista Patrol came to my aid when the mechanic failed to tighten the bolts on the left front wheel and it bounded down the highway for about 100 yards into oncoming traffic. Luckily traffic was light and it missed everyone. I now have the habit of checking wheel bolts when they are repaired or changed.
Agaian thank you for the response but you also did not answer my original question!

Has anyone had experience with roadside assistance purchased with the annual Marchamo? Was wondering if it was actually worth buying?
I have it as a part of my INS policy and I have used it three times. Twice they carried my car to Liberia and once to Nicoya (each time from Samara). All I did was call INS and they sent a flatbead tow truck, no hassle, no charge. The truck and driver showed up within an hour of the promised time.
Thank you for the response but it still diodnt answer my question!!
We are wondering if dill, is available in CR? . I just can’t make decent potato salad without dill :D
Dill is just so so easy to grown. We live fairly high up in the mountains and I just threw the dill seeds “stolen” from a friend and the next thing I had dill all over the place. Makes a wonderful show and once the top flower dies just cut the plant back and it grows back so quickly. Good luck

All the roads in Panama appear to be in far better condition than Costa Rica. Having gone to Bocas on several occasions we have chosen to take the local bus rather than our car as a car is totally unnecessary on the islands. Water taxis are all over and very cheap ( generally US$1.00 to go across to different islands but depends on how far the island is that you wish to visit).

Adjusting to your new life is whats its all about. You simply cannot expect to have all or find all the foods etc you had in your country of departure. Just relax and enjoy. Mu husband is Gluten intolerant and we find all we require here in Costa Rica. Pura Vida.
