Do what costaricabill advises and check out various areas of the country and you should be able to find what you are looking for. With your budget, it will make it much easier to find.
Suggest you read these requirement to living here legally, if you haven’t already done so.

I agree with going the ‘rental route’ too, until you have decided whether the chosen area has what YOU need.

Many come here, having decided on their ‘spot’ based on what others have said or blogged about, and have not actually ever spent any time to look around at the many wonderful and varied choices that are here before making the huge decision to purchase a house.

It is only later that they find, that for them, it may be too hot & humid at the beach, is too wet and/or windy location for their preferred activities or it is much further than they thought to city entertainment.

Some friends purchased a beautiful condo … only to find out a few months of living there that condo living, was ‘not for them’.

So by renting, you just pack up and try another area … without finding yourself stuck where you do not want to be.

I can’t direct you to any in the area you are inquiring about, but many towns have doctors and specialists, who practice in small private clinics, where surgery is performed and offer emergency services.
Hospital La Católica also in San José, is an excellent hospital, and recommend it highly.
To find out what services are offered in any town you are interested in living in, it is best to stay in the area for a week or so, and not to rely solely on what you can find ‘online’ before signing a longtime lease.

This was on another forum today.

‘The new tax that went in to effect Monday morning, because off all the problems, was suspended Monday night. And after a conversation with a migration agent, she confirmed that it will not be put back into effect until they work out the kinks. Then it will be in La Gaceta, as to when it will go into effect. And after some prodding, Danelia assured me that they will post it on their FaceBook page.
If you are traveling on Tica Bus, for example, they are in the loop and you can pay the tax at the terminal, when the tax is put back into effect. If you are traveling on your own, call Migration at 9000-767266. It is a toll call, but while my conversation took a while, as she check with supervisors, it was worth the wait. If you do call, I suggest you ask the name and note the person in which you speak.
Remember, it is not just the tax it is also $2 per bag.’

Personally, I would hesitate in sending a deposit, especially using this method. It has been known that people post photos of a house that isn’t theirs, the photos are old and not showing as it is ‘now’ or is not the same property.
Suggest you book into a hotel or B&B for a few nights and look round the area that you are interested in staying.

Read this info that explains why you may want to think twice…and I doubt you would get your deposit refunded.

Javier, I understood that dependents must be under 18, single and in the education system here, so is this correct or not?
A dependent that is totally dependent on the applicant, they too are covered, right?

Unless, you apply as an individual, only one pension for a minimum of $1000 per month if you are a legally married couple is required. You may be required to renew your cedula after one year or it may be two…
Presently, applicants have reported that from start to receiving your cedula is taking between 18-24 month. 😥

I would suggest for your first trip, just visit as many areas that sound like they have what you want, and take notes.
Most of us living here, would suggest you rent for a while to see if both the area and country is for you.
We are from the interior of BC and have lived here nearly 14 years.

Most that work at online business, were already established in them and worked from home before they moved here.

To move here legally, you WILL need a fistful of cash ($60,000 X 2) to apply as a Rentista or a guaranteed for life pension of at least $1000 per month.

Too many locals, various groups and environmentalists are opposed to an airport in that area. While many tourists do visit there for as short time, I don’t think many international flights would be filled.

Personally I don’t think this will actually happen. It was announced last week that an International airport will be built in Orotina, so I can’t image them adding another one.
