Just came back from 9 day fabulous trip with excellent English speaking tour guide, who I will use again and recommend to everyone I know.
His name is Johnathon Sedo, his cell number is (506) 836-6204.
Feel free to tell Johnatghon Sedo that Kenny the curly long haired author recommended him.
He requested that I wire him the funds for the 9 days in advance, and I did last May. He was always on time or early!!! Very knowledgeable, and for a young man of his age, he has a fantatastic support system of other guides and drivers.
His vehicule had to get new shocks because of his just conmpleted guiding a group over very rough terrain. He was able to acquire another one, which was perfect for our needs. His access to numerous sizes and types of vehicules, and money saving ways at the various hotels I stayed at versus the special pensions he and other drivers use, was very refreshing.
I am not on commission, nor related to him in any way.
Scott I will be calling you after seeing Roberto Umana the best lawyer anyone can use if they want a lawyer who is a human being first, lawyer second and is worth 10 times what he askes. Please do not tell him I say so until I get my invoice.
He helped me do my fingerprinting, plus set up three bank accounts, get debit card and visa at the Bank Nacional in under 4 and a half hours including travel time!
They bank was so good, I decided to return with 15 chouro’s for everyone and their significant others and kids the next day. My aim is to make them fatter sooner, so I look skinnier quicker.
I loove chouros but choose to not eat them. When I get the urge too, I buy them for others.
Oh yes, also gave Roberto and Mriablel his secretary one each.
Speak to you soon Scott. Keep up the great service you are doing. I have recommended your site to at least 18 people this past week… You are making a difference!
I apologize for putting so much nonrelevant info here, but have dozens of important emails to deal with and so little time. Would rather play in Costa Rican sunshine, then use the net just now.
Chao Chao, the soon to look skinner

curlyonecurlytwoMemberFor grout, five yers ago I used a top quality Teflon sealer, which has stood up extrmely well on the kitchen floor and backsplash tiles and the bathroom tiles.
Best used after cleaning the grout, or if new applying then. Ask the store staff after reading the product labels
Easy to do, very long-term lasting, cost effective. Available at Home Depot style stores.
Water is the cheapet easiest solvent there is. Key is to give it time to do what itt does best, help lift the dirt and grim.
Along with white vinegar excellent window cleaner as well. Some professional Hi-rise window cleaners use water, vinegar and a few drops of dishwashing soap in a bucket.
For things like laundry detergents/soaps, half the recommeneded amount does the job. Saves $. Saves the environment, since we do not have to drink and recycle the cheimcals that get into our water supply.
Hope this info helps.
curlyonecurlytwo, signing over and out.
PS: Get a good nights sleep Scott, I noticed you are working long late hours into that good night… Bye’ Bye’ Chao Chao ZZZZzzzzzzz
curlyonecurlytwoMemberCheck out the Bed and Breakfast Vidal Tropical through this site. They only charge $33 a night for couples ($25 for a single) I reserved 17 days for my stay there, this July. Sound like a hearty breakfast is incuded.
They are warm, inviting, with a sense of humor. Excellent location in Aleujla (I’ll never get the spelling right), not far from the air port. Good for starting place for your explorations of Central Valley.
I am not on commission or related to them in anyway, but after corresponding with them I would choose to make them members of my extended family. Relatives by choice. Not for purpoes of discounted charges, just cause they seem so nice.
Good luck!
Please be gentle if you email me.Edited on Jun 10, 2006 07:56
curlyonecurlytwoMemberHi Sunshine alias MarilynSunshine,
Speak or e-mail Roberto first before expending energy on activities that may distract you. Each persons journey on the way, to The Great Way is theirs and theirs alone.
In Costa Rica it is said, “Before you wake up in the morning, make sure you have a lawyer to deal with any paperwork. VERY LITTLE SUING in Costa Rica, lots of opportuntites to throw your life away on frivilous activities that cause your path, your flow to be diverted unnecessarily.
You are making a very smart move by doing your hoemework. Let nothing divert you from your goal, your focus and intent are best kept intact this way.
In any case it took me 5 weeks, from the day I got back home, to get my papers to Cost Rica, and receive a temporary pensionado number.
Now I am going to make my second trip June 26 to July 17 to get my fingerprints taken for their Interpol check, and attempted to break the passport photgraphers camera by getting 8 photoes (4 for Costa Rica government, 2 extras to have with me in case my passport is stolen and 2 extras to leave with Roberto in case everything gets stolen, if he will hold them on file for me) along with 5 copies of the main passport pages for reasons of backup. WHY?
When I was there in February, a very wealthy man LOST his glasses, and could not see. His buddies helped him around, but he had to get an eye examination, and glasses. THEREFORE days were spent in misery, unnecessarily.
A real estate woman, was having problems with her land purchase (same applies to leases/renting, buying a home, etceteras) you need someone you can trust for example Roberto is a lawyer and Notary BOTH are required specialties if you are a stranger is a strange land, planning to live there.
HIs wise ousel, has saved me much unnecesary expense. In a matter where he would have made money, and choose NOT to charge me. PINCH ME NOW! It is not a dream!
“Hey, watch where you pinch!”
This time I am also going down to explore the Central Valley and probably will setlle in the artsy area of Ciuddad Colon, or San Ramon, or Santa Ana, or where ever. Having fun exploring, playing, making friends and a fool of myself as I struggle to learn, mangle, mess up and become Spanish speaking.
I am planning another trip in October/Novmber between putting home up for sale, and the closing. I will be moving to a friends place for a few months as I tie up losta loose buisiness and life ends.
Leaving is such sweet sorrow, my soul will rejoice on the ‘morrow.
So SUNHSINE savor your journey. Everything will work out as it should. Over-thinking can suck the life out of you. (Read the bestselling book BLINK it is a tendency that some folks have, and it wastes their energy, very subtly detsroying the quality of their life.)
In any case if it is meant to be, I will let you treat this crazy fun-loving mysterious Canuck writer to a laugh or two over a coffee, with you and your partner, if and when we meet. AT YOUR EXPENSE OF COURSE. Like dah’!
Chao Chao – curlyonecurlytwo ’cause my hair is long and growing for Locks of Love, and this is true. Look that charity up on the web.

Good night Scott. Sweet dreams. ZZZZzzzzzzz…..
PPS: Could not insert your article about the Hotel Don Carlos, but what I did in the end, is even better. Now you and your website are in the story. (:
“Mucho tease!”
‘Si.”curlyonecurlytwoMemberMy lawyer, Roberto Umana, uses his address and telephone number for my application and information.
Roberto Umana is also a good friend of George Lundquists. Scott also knows him. And now I am glad to say my friend.
Roberto is more than just a lawyer. Believe it or not, Roberto is a human being first, who happens to practice law.
I will be seeinghim end of June to to complete my pensionado status. His office is perfectly situated. His fees are ‘HONEST’ in other words reasonable.
Location: Across the street from Hotel Don Carlos, at Avenida 7 and Calle 9, just west of the Instituto National de Seguros, in the historical area known as Barrio Amón in San José.
Roberto’s office is just across the street.
Also near the Instituto National de Seguros, Ministry of Public Security, Minsisterio de Seguridad Publica, building, where the Department of Immigration, Direccion General de Migracion y Extrajeria and the National Immigration Council, Consejo Nacional de Migracion y Extranjeria resided. They reviewe residency and immigration petitions.
WOW life was so easy, when you threw an address on an envelope or gave directions before I discovred Cossta Rica. NOW I understand why life is so much slower in Costa Rica, and I would not change this one iota!!!!
SCOTT, Please insert contact info for Roberto, and the other lawyer who supports your web-site.
CONGRATS. Looking forward to reading the legal book when I am there, and leaving it for you to hold for me, since I have a hundred small reference books I am bringing down this trip. The really small ones. And over 100 + BIG heavy ones I have to get there when I move down. Phew!
Aside from recent posting about the shipper today, are their any other reasonable shipping options?
Chao Chao
Kenny. Looking forwrd to the Cuidad Colon article…. Hope Margie is doing it. I like her down home, down to earth, writing style.
curlyonecurlytwoMemberScott. E-books is the way to go. I do NOT know particulars about it, but have bought quite a few, and have some contacts or sites that will show what I mean by e-booking it to $ ‘mana’ heaven…
The savings on cash flow, S & H, 24 hour availablity, not sitting on a shelf on consignment, taking a year to see a few bucks back for investing so much… I hope you are getting. Guess our second lunch or supper will be a working one. First is always get to know you fun…
When I am down there we can chat. I know a few things about publishing A-Z in a traditional sense, and give you an idea on how to legally bypass your x-wifes bank account, and still get the bucks into Costa Rica, legally.
See you sooner then you know to pick up my legal reading material when I am there. Should be e-booked!!! Downlaoadable from your site, certain groups specialize in handling these transaction…
PS Guys buy Scotts book! It is the most comprehensive concise one on the issue of Real Estae in Costa Rica and yes Scott there is competition out there, but you wipe their… ooopppsss sorry I just rememebered this IS a family friendly site.
PSSSTTT Buy a few copies for those you love, and want to live in Costa Rica with you for Holiday gifts, for those you do not like, send them the book, ‘Living in the Gulag’, by Frozen Stiff circa 1948…
PPS: I have written over 10 published books, and know a valuable read once I have read it! Scotts is a MUST read if you are thinking of just living in Costa Rica. And yes I have read three top books about Costa RIca, but this Scott’s is #1 for Real Estate in my books.
PPSS: Conventional wisdom and common sense indicate they need teachers called Think for yourself, and Life. Chao Chao. Ken

curlyonecurlytwoMemberMoving down within 6 months. Is organic soya milk, almond milk and ‘or bown rice basmati milk available there. Also cold milled organic flax seeds, etcetera…
Completing pensionado status next trip with Robertos assistance. Great lawyer. Great human being. No this is not an illusion nor oxymoron you are reading, in Roberto Umanas’ case. George L. turned me onto Roberto. Love them both.
I love cooking, and milk? What’s that stuff? Gimme my clean water and fresh lemons, oooppsss limes no organic lemons in Costa Rica, and I am about as happy as a you know what in a feedlot, called Life!
PS: I am a Canuck. Hopefully soon a full fledged Costa Rican in five years or so… Goodbye Bbrrr factor, Hola the Rich Coast, Costa Rica.
curlyonecurlytwoMemberI am an x-Montreal (left in 1977) Torontonian in process to becoming a Costa Rican. I will be in Costa Rica June 26 to Juy 17th. Am completing documentation for pensionado status. Tying up loose ends over next six months, and hope to be living there, by year end.
Stay at Hotel don Carlos, San Jose first few days then B & B Vidal Tropical. Hired driver guide for 9 of the days, as I explore Central Valley.
There is a Canadian Club in San Jose. No not the drink. A real group of Canucks. Elaine, an ex-Thornhill resident Canuck, in Escazu owns The Beauty Place, great massage therapists, in Esaczu.
Them Canucks are all over the place, as am them Americans, but my heart has a place for the most special people of all, the Costa Ricans.

curlyonecurlytwoMemberI am a co-author of 3 books on natural remedies, supplements and complementary medicine. An avid user of natural remedies and supplements.
I may have to import cold milled organic flax seed, (USE IT DAILY), natural green power mutli-powders (DAILY use), and small things like wild-crafted oregano oil, tea tree oil, colloidial silver, etcetera.
There are health food style stores, I will be exploring in detail, when I am in Costa Rica my next trip June 26 to July 17, to finalize pensionado resident status details. Then wait for the bureaucracy to do what it does.
Is there a need? Yes. Is there a large enough target market and distribution system, I do not know. Many folks into that culture of self-health care and optimal health form a strong core of possibly thousands which might initially best be served with an internet site, selling and shipping within Costa Rica, preferably in bulk amounts using less packaging.
I hate buying top quality AOR multi-vitamin’s or EFA’s with DHA and EPA in small amounts (a months’ supply) as it is a waste of packaging, money and environmentally unsound.
I plan to make 2 trips to the USA or Canada each year, too load up with my needs. Am making arrangments with a couple of wholesalers for bulk purchases. A close friend and naturoptath works for a major vitamin supplier in Canada.
I also worked with naturoptths, pharmacisits, MD’s and assorted complementary medicine healers. The market is growing in Costa Rica. Rate of growth, unknown to me. I met many who have friends bring down supplements.

curlyonecurlytwoMemberDear fellow Canucks,
I’m joining you. Finalizing pensionado status June 26 to July 17 PLUS researching locations on Central Plan, + meeting more fine Costa Rican friends to be. Have decided everything stays here, except for new Apple notebook I will buy, linens, and some clothes.
Unfortunately I have over 100+ key reference books I use, when writing my books and I cannot be without them. That is the killer. Books are heavy, and a tool of my trade. Just my dictionary weighs over 10 pounds! I’ll figure out what to do with this load, soon enough. See if they have a slow boat to Costa Rica, they will probably end up in China.
All the other stuff is irrelevant.
Next trip in October/November 2006 is to rent or buy, or whatever. Return to Toronto, then go home to Costa Rica, as soon as possible after that.

Sorry folks, do your homework. You’ll be shocked.
This, not surprisingly, was the germ of an idea for another book I am researching, to make into another spiriual romantic thriller. Guess the principle female character should be a pealer (aka stripper).
Sorry folks, I can’t resist a pun or two when the opportunity to contrast the sad with the funny arises.

curlyonecurlytwoMemberHELP REQUESTED! During my first trip to Costa Rica, I met a well-to-do Costa Rican who read an exceprt from a manuscript I wrote, my friend brought with him to read. After reading it she asked me what other books I was working on.
Now, a like mind calls out to you, for your help, so we may help the fine folks of Costa Rica, my soon to be new home, in a way you will be surprised. READ ON:
I showed this fine Costa Rican ‘translator’ woman, the 100 words I just wrote, and told her the story line of this spiritual romantic thriller I was writing, incuding the ending.
She gasped. “IF YOU WRITE IT, IT WILL BE A bestseller! You do not speak Spanish. How did you know we are just starting to talk about what you wrote?”
Well that was February 25, 2006. March 1, 2006 started writing it in earnest, April 18th completed 75,000+ word draft. This is my 12th book, 10 prior ones were non-fiction. My old literary agency in New York City handles foreign sales mainly. And this is beyond their scope.
Test readers stunned by the story. It is a fictionalized tale based in truths (aka Michael Creighton, John Grisham, Irving Layton, etceteras – No I am not them), yet feels real, makes them laugh, cry and…want to stand up and take action.
As I read this board, know the truths in it and the book, the solutions I wrote, and how readers become emotionally engaged and transformed by it. For the first time in my life, and I have had many better reasons to reach out before, I am reaching out to you to help me, help Costa Rica. How? READ ON…
Scott, my lawyer Roberto, George Lundquist and the Costa Rican who does translation and for some reason loves the styles of writing I do, will be getting the unedited drafts. It goes to my professional editor end June 2006, when I leave to complete the paperwork for my residency status in Costa Rica.
This month I start searchng for an American Literary Agency to handle all the requests and this and prior books, and suddenly one, now two executive producers want to option 2 books and the play I did a draft treatment of, based on a complex, book, I will not release, just yet. Why am I posting this info HERE?
I am overwhlemed. I am a creative, and do what I do best, and need a NEW solid American Literary Agency who will see the incredible value in this book and my other published successes + literary projects under development. More importantly the VOICE it gives these wondrous Costa Rican people and country, before it is too late.
Guys, the power of 7. Networking. Those of like mind may email me.
I will email you the proposed book cover text and first few pages. I have a few agnecies I am considering, but YOU may know a legitimite solid agency in California or NYC, who can handle this and the numerous published reference, non-fictiion and in progress spiritual romantic thrillers works. I will insert my e-mail in the excerpt I send you, so you can forward it on.
As the Costa Rican protagonist woman in my book says, “Si Dios quire. If God wills it. Gracias a Dios. Thanks to God.”
Please insert “From WeLoveCostaRica Lit Agent Possibility” in the subject line or it gets tossed. Too much junk mail.
PS Yes Scott, one voice, one person, one word, can have profound affects upon humanity. It is the basis of Chaos Theory, Einsteins work, The Butterfly Affect and so much more.
You see Scott, you are here, because the universe willed it. And I thank you for being you and doing what you are doing. See you soon. Keep on making a difference.
Chao Chao,
Kenny – That 54+ year old, single guy, with a compelling book, The Ultimate Power, you asked me to bring to you. Yes, the guy with a stench of… ooopppsss I mean sense of humor, and you sensed his integrity so I captured your attention and you started goggling me, to find out I really had written 10 books. But did you know a Mexican publisher translated one of them? A Turkish publisher the one, unsolicited by me, that you asked to buy, and I am bringing you your copy?

curlyonecurlytwoMemberWelcome to the rule of law. That is why they say you need a lawyer in Costa Rica, before you get out of bed, so someone can intepret the options for you. Costa Rica is not a litigious society, compared to the USA and even Canada believe it or not – Scotts 124 tips makes it clear why thisis so.
Now that said, I am sure Robrto would NOT tell you to do something illegal, in anyway.
He may indicate that this is what others have done, but a lawyer, a professional, does not jeapordize his livelihood by telling a potential or fee paying client to do llegal activities. Are you getting my drift?
The key is JUST DO IT, from what I gather. I have, and am lookingforward to becoming a resident once the paperwork in San Jose is done. I am now GRANDFATHERED. Phew! ¡fo! as they would say.
I guess I will review mey reply and EDIT IT after I get your reply. DONE, see what I mean!?
Chao Curly signing out.
