every time I stick my head in for a quick peek in here.. and sure enough its sweikert and his continous mental masturbation of various topics costa rica related lol
I will peek again next month and see what topics he is debating
keep in mind all this is on some company’s time that is paying him a salary to be productive..
which is typical
onward!!!

But this new state of affairs is only weeks old. It was just put into effect on January 7th.
There is no “new state of affairs”. The law left in place all guns that were held prior to the imposition of the law, and since there was a period after the law was passed and before it went into effect, gun shops did BIG business. There were a mere handful of gun dealers in Chicago who were affected and anyone who wanted a gun after the ban was effetive only had to drive a few more miles to get one. The ban was a stupid and totally ineffective exercise. It had no practical affect. The gun ban law was passed in 1982. In 1974 there were 970 murders but in 1988 that number had fallen to 660. It went up again to 943 in 1992 but since then it has fallen more or less steadily. Did the gun ban have anything to do with any of that? I don’t think so, but others do. The truth is that the gun ban probably had no affect on the number of guns sloshing around and therefore no affect on the gun violence rate.
Wherever hand guns are banned, the gun violence goes up.
If that is true, then how do you account for the decline in murders (almost all of which are committed with firearms) in Chicago between 1974 and 1988? How do you account for the fact that the US has both the bighest rate of gun ownership (by far!) in the world AND the highest rate (by far!) of gun deaths?
daviddMemberI have to agree with imxploring
If you do visit please bring common sense and the ability to use good judgement..

Don’t worry about it…. this type of crime is often the result of some type of conduct I’m sure you’re not involved in. The questions being asked as to why this happened will result in information that will make it clear that this wasn’t some type of random murder but more likely the result of some bad choices or associations made by victim.
February 13, 2014 at 2:02 pm in reply to: Gringo Jailed For Not Paying January $10,916 in Monthly Child Support & ‘Pensión’ For One Six Year O #159959daviddMemberthis obviously has alot more to this story as all stories do.
just kill a guy and no money was taken??
but your right about being cautious especially with such an age gap.
When I move about I am always aware of my surroundings.. and if I personally came across this scenario I would IMMEDIATELY assume the worse. which is why you should have some training and be armed.
One does have the right to defend themselves regardless of what the liberal wankers all cry about.
this poor guy looked like he never had a chance..
last week around 9pm.. someone broke into our guest house.. my neighbor called me and she said she heard someone around.. as i hung up the phone I went to go outside when I heard a crash of a window Paine.. the idiots tried to dismount a sliding door and it shattered.. i came out and shot off about 20 rounds.. ( not to hit them but in the ground) one never seen anyone run so fast..
I could see the outlines of the street lamps as they took off.. I doubt the will come back.
Called police and made a report.. one cop asked if I took some shots.. I said yes.. he said good..
🙂
Seems another “older” Gringo enjoying the company of a much younger women in CR has had a bad outcome. This time the “victim” was murdered near La Fortuna. Seems they let his 30 year old lady friend go however… why would they leave a witness to murder? Hmmmmm.
I’m sure there’s more to the story just as there is with the poor fellow being extorted for $10,000/Month.
Word to the wise… be VERY careful with new relationships in CR… the scenery is nice and very attractive… and can be VERY inviting… but there’s snakes in the grass that can cause a lot of pain or death if you’re not careful.
being almost 70 years old and in jail here.. I bet lets say 50 years ago
if someone who could tell the future said to this guy
Buddy.. in 50 years from now you will wind up in a costa rican prison
he would never believe it :P:P
and for the look of things he probably came to this country like many americans do and try to do the right thing regarding transparency.. because there is no way he would have even mentioned that kind of money if he planned things accordingly
that is crazy 10 thousand dollars per month for child support.. does not make any sense
I wonder if this is indeed his child..
so he was 62 when he had this child..
hope he can get through this

The news story states that: “Un comerciante está en la cárcel desde el jueves pasado por no pagar la cuota de pensión de enero, que fue de ¢5,6 millones (¢3,6 del monto mensual, más ¢2 millones de salario escolar) a favor de su hija de seis años.“

daviddMemberlol yep.. that is what we will call sweikert
“Mr Google” 🙂

That report tends to prove two things. Come now Steve… like I told you previously…. Paranoia in the unfounded fear people are out to get you! In this case they’re just out to get your money (nothing new there when it comes to governments that have made promises they can’t keep and spent the future today)… and after you relocate to CR for a while (or anywhere that a true divide exist between the haves and the have-nots)… you’ll understand.
Until that happens… you’re entitled to your opinion as to the motivation and true intentions of the folks running CR… just as I am mine. The difference is mine in based on 8 years of actual experience, yours is based on a Google search! LOL 😉

did not mean to step on any toes.. 🙂
my publishing company publishes books on various subjects including but not limiting to the health niche as well as certain industry technologies. we have close to 100 published books and even have a few best sellers. saying we regurgitate books would be like saying your books as well.
each is very well researched and 100% unique content.. I don’t re purpose online income opportunities to other people
nothing wrong with that mind you
There are so many paths to online income
a close friend has a network of prayer sites.. and he generates a 6 figure income doing this.. his network of sites attract people and they light a virtual candle and say a prayer and make a donation of $1 to $5
crazy I know.. but goes to show you the level of ignorance that exists in today’s society.
good luck on your new business venture as I am sure you have enough followers that will almost anything you promote..
of course reason being you have a great reputation which has been earned I am sure.
to a profitable 2014
As always, you are entitled to your opinion davidd…
I am certainly not “blind” when it comes to making a living online and as you know, I have made a fairly good living online for a decade now!
The new online business I am involved with is based on an already proven online business system, you can call that “regurgitate” if you wish…
The commission earned by the people I know (without ever having to make telephone sales calls) who are already involved are very “real” indeed.
Some people might say that in copying millions of other people producing Kindle books that you too are “regurgitating.”
Having said that I wish you every success in your online ventures…

touche!!! ( is that correct??) 🙂 excellent reply
how can any sensible person not see the logic with this statement. oh yea lol

Is your current health insurance in Chi-Town based on a percentage of your income? How about your auto insurance or your renters insurance? I’m guessing they’re not.
That’s a fair point but the other examples of protective services I cited are – and healthcare services are not a product as you seem to insist. But OK, if we want to limit the discussion to healthcare only then what about Medicare – that is paid for by a tax on income. The more you earn the more you pay.
Even Obamacare in the US is not based on income for those exceeding the subsidies levels (lower income individuals and families). A person making $1,000,000/ year is not charged more than a person making $100,000!
Well Obamacare is, at the end of the day, simply private healthcare insurance that people have been induced to purchase. And in private healthcare insurance not everyone pays the same either, and it is not solely based on risk. If I lived in downstate Illinois I would pay less than I do here in Chicago because healthcare providers downstate earn less than they do here. So I pay higher premiums as a result.Even risk based premiums aren’t strictly fair because older people TEND to use more healthcare services but it doesn’t NECESSARILY mean that a particular older person will require more healthcare. It’s all just an estimation.
Of course one could consider the most unfairly treated people of all to be those who pay for healthcare insurance and never get sick – every dollar they pay in premiums goes to pay for healthcare for other people.
You are certainly entitled to feel aggrieved that you pay more for things because of your higher income level but as I said earlier, what we each consider fair can vary from person to person. I consider it fair that people with more means pay more than people with less.
Looking at your last sentence I’m guessing you’re pretty much a socialist Steve…. so should I be paying more for my groceries or a meal when I dine out… how about my car insurance or electric? Where would you draw the line? Don’t you think such an attitude encourages people to seek to game the system and discourages people to seek being more productive and sucessful?
And finally…. is that belief and view based on your own position in life and how such a system would benefit you at the expenses of other more sucessful people since it would appear you would be on the receiving end of this system rather than the paying end?
I noticed in an earlier post you mentioned you figured that your contribution to CAJA would only be about $100-$130 per month. Assuming you’re using the 10%-13% numbers that have been mentioned for mandatory CAJA contributions that means you are figuring on having to declaring approximately $1000 per month (the bare minimum) in total income to obtain your residency. If I have those numbers correct will that be your total income? I’m guessing not since I think you know you won’t be able to live on $900 per month in CR unless you go native. And with inflation and the apparent increases in CAJA even if you could initially.. your stay would be a short one when time and increasing cost quickly caught up with you.
So you will have other income I’m guessing. How about when SS kicks in after you relocate? Will you be declairing that additional income (even though it might not be required for you to obtain your residency) since you feel so strongly that people with means pay more than people with less? Or will you be gaming the system since it benefits you?
It’s easy to enjoy the ride (and even justify it) when someone else is paying the price… but be careful you might have to walk by a mirror and see yourself, although for many people these days that doesn’t even seem to matter!
Once again… personal health INSURANCE is a product… not a social program!
I’m new to this forum but Imxploring you “nailed” it.
I look forward to see your new online business venture will be..
most of sorry ass people that say they operate online business regurgitate..
How to make money online type of business models. and sell other people how to make money online
its like this psychopathic merry go round of the blind leading the blind
I operate a real online business in the kindle market as well as managing business clients
one hedges the other.. in the event the economy goes south.. hopefully people will still spend $2 for kindle books.
As the owner of this site and a legal permanent resident of Costa Rica I have to be a cautious about certain topics…
For obvious reasons I can not be seen to encourage people to work in Costa Rica illegally or, to visit Costa Rica under false pretenses.
You mentioned that you wished you could retire but did not make it clear why you are “not to that point yet.”
By that do you mean you do not have enough money to retire on?
If I were in your position, my one and only goal would be to develop some kind of online business that you can run from and make money from anywhere in the world.
Within the next 3-4 weeks I will be showing our VIP Members the new online business I have invested in. I am very excited …

daviddMember
Any other ideas on a better internet connection up my way in Arenal?
I am not sure.. but ICE has the new launch of the 4g service..
pretty fast plans for like $50 per month for 10 mgs.. but they have a 15 gig limit download.. so I don’t know what your consumption would be.. and I am not sure if they have it by you.. I would think so but this is costa rica and nobody other than sweikert knows how difficult things can get here :D:D:D:D:D:D
daviddMemberSprite
aside from being in that comfort zone of 100 mgs.. why would you need that speed??? I operate my 6 figure business complete online.
What I do is I use a small company here called JAPI
I have a point to point dedicated connection 10mgs down 10 mgs up
only used by me not shared so ths would be the same as a 20 mgs shared here
cost me $265 per month
now I run some high end software that need high speed internet so i have 3 seperate VPS located in Germany that run all my software
I pay $50 per month for each and my speeds there is 300megs down 300 megs up
and I just communicate with those.. and there you have it 🙂
PS. BUT maybe…. just maybe… if we ask Sweikert he could set us all straight on the facts and tell us which way would be the best way to go lol

You’re right this is not the US so Net speeds for the price don’t compare nor do the prices of cars! This is CR.
I think you can purchase satellite feed for the speeds you seek albeit likely very expensive.
Hmmm. not happy if that is my only option. I have heard horror stories about satellite. I guess my day dream about laying in a hammock by my waterfall and simultaneously zipping through cyberspace at lightning speed ain’t gonna happen for while.
Maybe I should just unplug and listen to the exotic birds and the falling water.
daviddMemberScott
thats great!!!

However, I am less concerned about the price and more concerned as to whether or not I can even get at least 100 Mbps in the San Ramon area….
daviddMemberI would have to agree partially with your statement media mogul sweikert 😀
there is indeed a difference between living here day to day.. and experiencing life and the application of laws here with all its nuances
and just visiting and reading all about it on the internet.
You regurgitate info you read and make it your own.
instead of being a student and asking questions from people that live here you debate these endless scenarios.
but Like I always have stated
you enjoy this mental masturbation :roll::roll:
good to see your still going strong
keep up the good work..
I will check back in 60 days to check up on you

Perhaps when you do make the jump and invest and live here in COSTA RICA your OPINIONS which, for the most part, are based on what you’ve read or have discovered after an Internet Google search will carry more weight.
Well if that’s the yardstick then I guess your opinion should always win over mine. But you live in CR only part-time and waggoner41 lives there full-time, so I guess his opinion on this trumps yours.
daviddMember
So if the Republicans get their way it would be scored as:
Tax Cheats 1
Honest Taxpayers 0
the world according to sweikert 8)8)8)8)8)8)8) nice place.. can we get a ticket to visit sometime
is it me.. but it seems overtime I visit this forum there is always a debate going on with Sweikert ( someone who does not live here) and the rest of people that live here day to day.
I guess he must have enjoyed his visit to costa rica recently
