If only everything on the web was true…..
Victoria

    your missing the point!!!

you should never rely on ONE source but a large variety of sources

with diligence and keeping at bay your preconceived ideas of how the world should be

the truth will slowly be revealed.

you cannot ever take anything at face value

I know its alot of work

but that is what is counted on.. that the masses do not or will not dive any deeper than what is coming out of the mouths of these bureaucrats

I remember clinton as if was yesterday.. looking at the american public

I did NOT have sexual relations with monica lewisky

even better was the recent scandel with wiener and his tweet scandel

when they open up thier mouths they lie!!!

this goes on all the time and you know what thier secret weapon is

    PLAUSIBLE DENIABILITY

and even today you have people that react shocked!!!!:shock::shock::shock::shock::shock:

I was speaking with my attorney friend about this and he told me about an incident which I had no idea

that in 1946 american researches (government) went to Guatemala and deliberately infected 700 poor Guatemalans with syphilis to test the cure of penicillin

I can only imagine the atrocities that our government has done.. that we do NOT know about.

    very sad and disgusting

Cut to the chase. What freedoms do you think you have?
waggoner

that is truly a great question.. we toss around the word that it becomes rhertoric.

can we get a list of definitions of freedoms that we should have or do have??? here is an interesting article called

10 Reasons The U.S. Is No Longer The Land Of The Free

    http://jonathanturley.org/2012/01/15/10-reasons-the-u-s-is-no-longer-the-land-of-the-free/

what is freedom really and can we ever be truly free??? if you ask people of the United states they would regurgitate some sound bite

a great quote from escape from New York

    http://youtu.be/xZCypUOH8js

I spoke with a friend that lives in Oregon and he thinks that is the most free place to be

love to hear what freedom means to other people

    thanks

what your saying regarding Sprite handing over his money is just as silly

what Sprite is saying keeping your long term assets in fiat dollars currency is the problem.

do you have your wealth assets in dollars??? I would hope NOT. as I recall your getting SS or maybe a pension.

if this is your only long term strategy than you should be nervous.

we have now actual towns and communities in the U.S. that are coming up with their own currency. you need to google this.

    http://money.cnn.com/2012/01/17/pf/local_currency/index.htm

you also have business also accepting euros and other forms of currency for purchases.

give it some time and you will see the almighty dollar become less and less.

Life is very different between the W-2 person that worked for a company all his life and now receives a social security and pension

as opposed to a businessman that was more in control in his day to day wealth growth and preservation.

they see the world with 2 different sets of glasses

NOTE: I am not saying either one is bad. just making a point.

    David

PS. in 15 years I have seen the faith in the dollars change dramatically here. I remember dollars were pretty much accepted everywhere here. it was like wow!!! dollars

fast forward now.. i find more and more people NOT accepting or NOT preferring dollars here. this has been my personal observation.

PPS. just wait until a crisis occurs.. like the dollar NOT being the oil currency and it will be part of a larger basket of currency’s.

lots of things are going on and sadly it spears to be intentional.

    Never EVER

pay anything here in costa rica with debit card

only credit card from the U.S. or cash

once something happens the premise falls on you to fix it which can takes alot of time.

once i had an atm NOT spit out $100 cash but the receipt stated I got the money

the hassle to get that $$ back was NOT worth the trouble

most people walk around in a sleep like state not even realizing what is going on around them.

i agree that the masses are ignorant but are quick to defend things they do NOT know or have a good understanding.

I spent the last 3 years immersing myself more and more in specifics areas of politics and economics attempting to understand what the hell is going on and to try to get a better understanding.

but the more I dive into the rabbit hole the more I realize that everyone is nuts!!!

and the people that are awake are either becoming preppers or they leave the country.

after this recent election I am now disconnecting to this area since it’s a time consuming task that does nothing except create more and questions.

I am going into 2013 to focus more on areas that are within my control and hopefully teach my kids self reliance and perseverance

and to never ever ever give up on thier dreams.

so in other words and correct me if I am wrong

the DEBT is NOT real??? its all make believe

so what does it matter if the fed keeps printing trillions of dollars more since its only monopoly money.

and what does this do to the purchasing power of the dollar world wide or internally??

    nothing???

it’s such a con game it would be funny if it was not true.

fractional banking, leveraged debt, unlawful preemptive wars , these are the true weapons of mass destruction.

    Maravilla

    here is a secret!!!

every 5 years they re-eval property taxes and such.

what you do is go to the muni office and request the form so YOU can re eval your property. in this way you let it go up slightly :D:D:D:D

if you dont do this then they send someone who does this and it will be at least 2 to 3 times more

this is what your neigbor was doing
The value of any type of money is based on the confidence of the people using it. If there is no confidence whatsoever because society has completely broken down, then the only thing left is barter. Whatever is used as money or barter has to either have intrinsic value or actual value. Gold and silver have been used as money for 5000 years. Unless we enter into a radically different world wide paradigm, and we could, I suppose, gold and silver will retain the role of money when fiat paper currency dies ( and it always has died historically.
David

having gold and silver will allow you to exchange for whatever currency arises then you can use that for daily living.

I don’t think you will be using gold or silver in small denominations for daily living.

I am sure a new currency or way for people to exchange products and services will arises again.

now having certain skill sets.. you will always be in demand.. so you can essentially trade your skill sets for specific items

    which has alot of value.

    Sprite

can you offer fiat currency’s of the past that have collapsed???

would like to read up on this topic

    thanks

    David

PS. BTW just being in costa rica will offer some protection because a large %%% of people here are self reliant and already know how to grow food and such as opposed to living in NYC and becoming a dumpster diver if this makes any sense.

feeding yourself and your family is the level where civility will break down and true chaos will happen

meaning if normal people come to a point where they cannot feed themselves OR their family.. they will resort to doing things they would not do before.

this will NOT happen here. food is abundant, there is NO extreme hot or cold climate, and the soil here is fertile

I’m Canadian (Victoria, B.C.), Natuarlized as a Costa Rican (carry two passports) and have lived in Costa Rica for over fourteen years. Any such remarks, or inuendo as you suggest, are, in my opinion, based soley in envy and jealously. In a sense, if you’ve successfully made the move to Costa Rica, or the like, you are living a dream that few of your countrymen are able to achieve, for one reason, or another. It takes “guts” to make the move initially and even more “guts” to make the cultural compromises required to sustain it. If you’ve done it, be proud of yourself and consider yourself lucky enough that you were able to enrich your life with the experience, that many of your disgruntled countrymen wished they could have as well.
Well put….envy/jealousy is a part, but the arrogance of, especially in Americans, that there is no better nor more superior place in the world and heck, then, why leave…
it’s not jealousy it’s ignorance. which is OK.. let the ignorant live thier lives

so your a prepper LOL :D:D

I agree with what your saying.

gold and silver is a nice benefit to have but there are much more important things.

like the skillset needed to live in the changing times

it would be good to learn and master growing food, building alternative energy systems.. carpentry, electricity.. etc

because when the shit hits the fan.. all those people with gold and silver will be paying you to help them start a new life

to put on a happy face is what I do all the time. I am a great neighbor. friendly BUT not familiar if you understand what I mean.

i am independent and never cross the line with people and respect them as I want to be respected.

you could be a homosexual, a sex addict a drunk a white black asian or even an OBAMA lover LOL :shock::shock::shock::shock::shock::shock::shock::shock::shock::shock::shock::shock:

whatever is fine and I respect your space as long as you respect mine.

I find we as americans once we get a little friendly with people we expect them to be loyal friends and such and I have seen to many relational problems arise from this.

I often ask my wife what the neighbors think of me

    and always the same

    very serious. :D:D:D:D

which is fine this way no one starts to feel too comfortable in asking me for money or anything that I have to say no.

her family knows me to be the same.

I have a neigbor who is canadian couple. they have lived next to me for almost 2 years

we wave and say hi when we see each other but we don’t stop by for cookies and milk whenever the feeling arises.

one of them got into an accident.. and they called me.. and I dropped everything and took them to the hospital and stayed with them for 3 days until the felt comfortable going back.

I am the best person to know in your life and I would consider you extremely lucky to know me

    why??

because in a moment of crisis I will be there. no words BUT action non of this silly small talk

    action!!!!!

my word is my bond that is how I live

I often explain to my kids that I think it would be best in life if everyone could NOT speak

and we judged them by what they did not what they say

I am teaching mi kids to understand that words are only support for actions and to always keep an eye out for discrepancys between the 2.

for example. if I told my kids that don’t smoke its bad for you and such etc.. and here I am smoking.. their antenna should go up..

americans have mastered the art of bullshit!!!

oh yea I will be there tomorrow.. oh yea I will pay you back on monday, oh yea I will make sure this is taken care of and that is taken care of…oh yea..

    it’s like the politicians..

here is a photo op that Mr O took with this woman.. I remember it so well.. because you actually have people that believe these ignorant bureaucrats

    http://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2012/11/empty-embrace-hurricane-sandy-victim-upset-after-being-played-by-obama-video/

and I knew it was just that a photo op and knew nothing would ever get done. it’s examples like these that make me sick that I never have the sound on any longer just watch.

    sorry for the ramble

they don’t like us in the first place, so if they can blame us for anything, they will!!
Is the “they” here Costa Ricans?? Where do you live?? Up here by the lake, everyone has been welcoming. Perhaps we just don’t act like gringos? In our first nine months, we have attended 3 local gatherings, 2 Tica baby showers, had dinner with locals in their homes….if they don’t like us, would that be happening? Are they pretending to be nice so they can rob us? OMG that must be it! Quick, lock the house!

Ok just a little hyperbole there. Once you get through all this ‘gringo’ ‘tico’ stuff, it is who you are, not where you are from.
Victoria

let me ask yo a question.

if you have never been robbed. would that mean there is no crime???

we all live in this bubble of life

which is a good thing by the way if it makes you happy and you pursue your passions

but being also aware of whats going on around is also good as this gives you the ability to make rational decisions.

your success in your interactions with ticos here are based on alot of factors. where you live, your ability to communicate in the language, your ability to re evaluate your assumptions and be open and friendly.

a whole bunch of nuances that you may not even be aware of or somone in similiar situations may not have those life experiences that enable them to adapt.

me personally. I don’t like people

and if I had my way I would avoid people since they are a big pain in then ass.

    BUT

I also understand that nothing gets done without people SO I adapt and put on my happy “hey!!! how’s your coin collection”face on .:D:D:D:D
