DENISEMember
thanks Beth…..for both
i went to your website but that is a bit too expensive for our wallet….we have stayed at the Harbor Reef but wanted to have a kitchen…..
we have stayed at Luna Azul, Gilded Iguana, Villa Mango……all of the above are GREAT but we are looking for a house close to the beach….
this is my quest…..
thank you again
deniseDENISEMemberdearest Brad….lawyer, doctor..car salesman…..it is the fact that she made it happen at 23 yrs old, married, and working her way thru….
i hope u can be just as proud of your childrenDENISEMemberLast yr we rented from 4×4….never again ,,,bad experience that is too long to get into
but my recommendations are
1. rent something with a hard top….soft top Geo does not allow u to leave anything in car for fear of theft
2. pay with a credit card….if anything goes wrong, your cc company can help uDENISEMemberOn our 1st visit to CR, we traveled to the Pavones near the border….southern border…..wow….talk about sleepy…..it was gorgeous but definitly the surfing town….which was fine for my husband and son….it was a bit too undeveloped for my taste…but gorgeous with beaches to die for….
DENISEMemberthere is a group of people near Nosara, (just up the road from Luna Azul)…..i thought they were for yoga but i may be mistaken….does anyone know the name of this group? something like PACHEEMAMA..?????
DENISEMemberI am truley convinced that one needs to rent before deciding where, when or to buy or rent when making the BIG move….my question is how have people done this? do u arrange to rent before going down to CR or find something when u 1st get there….do u stay at a hotel and look for an apt or house? who do u contact to find a place to rent with a price in mind?
did u all just go or plan for years? do u have contacts and how did u make them
if it were up to me, i’d leave tomorrow…(un)fortunately, my husband is a bit more practical
deniseDENISEMemberwhat is the ‘DF’?
DENISEMemberlast summer my son had to go to a clinic for vomiting, fever, diahrea, etc….he was seen in 10 minutes, got a shot of anitbiotics, blood workup, pills, etc,,,and was done in an hour, feeling so much better and at the cost of $100….that is his emergency room co/pay in the US and u’d have to wait a few hours before being seen,,,,
i’m sure others have had experiences in CR both good and bad…but …
like the offending scene u saw with the Gringo….wait until u see the news in the states….it is all bad….and the good stories are the lamest ones a reporter can find to fill air time…oh well ….no place is perfect besides heaven….and i’d like to wait awhile before cking that out
DENISEMemberi know i can find fabric online….but why is the cost of shipping into CR so expensive? …do they want u to spend $ in country instead of sending $ out…that makes sense …but …
DENISEMemberthanks again for the insight and travel tips….are u looking forward to returning home, or are u sad to leave CR…? i always felt so sad,,,,and count the days for returning,,,,
we’ve had a few disappointments in our travels but mostly wonderful ones…such is life…we live in San Diego, CA which has the most perfect climate with no bugs but it is so crowded and expensive, that we have been on the search for a place similar to it to retire in….we found Nosara area to be to our liking,,,,not yet developed….we loved La Fortuna…but have a need for the ocean…we hope to ck out Santa Ana on our next trip….looking for a small place to live ….
again thanks for your sharing…
dDENISEMemberi’ve been thinking about the same thing…..i quilt and thought about how to receive or buy fabric in CR…..i don’t know if SCOTT would know about quilt shops, but i am hoping there are others who may help me….
DENISEMemberthank you Keith
are u living stateside or CRDENISEMembermany moons ago, my son rented a car – Suzuki – and rolled it….they had insurance on it….basic….but it was rented on a credit card….after months of letter writting, threatening, writting, waiting…..it came to an end,,,,the rental agency in CR wanted them to pay $15,000 because the car was totalled…even though the rental had coverage, they said car was being driven on dirt roads….duh,,,,name 3 paved roads….!!! finally getting to the point of almost getting a lawyer, the cc co. came to the plate and told the rental co…….NO…. the end….it was scary but after sticking to our guns and having the cc company help….it ended after MONTHS….
moral of this story….ins or no….u must be careful…..DENISEMemberdoes this apply to those applying as retirees….pensiones(?)….we don’t plan on working… but i thought there was a difference between residency and retiring there
DENISEMemberi have enjoyed reading your tales of life in CR ….my husband and i are planning a 2 month trip next summer….can we start paper work for our move in advance? we will be retiring there soon….but need to stay near coast where our property is….i assume most paper work needs to be done in the city….correct?
thanks for your stories and keep them coming
