Life is a stage and we all play roles and that is part of our commonality. However it is amusement, nothing more. The day that brings us light and air is what sustains. All the rest is merely style. In CR right now there is a saying – solo bueno – or = it’s all good. Well it is all good, excepts somes better. And the interesting thing is that once you accept the mundane you find that it is the “somes better” part. People go on and on about the richness of life you deserve and how money well let you lead and extraordinary life. What a crock of ****. There is nothing but extraordinary life. No life is merely ordinary all life as the word indicates is extra ordinary. The paradox lies in the word ordinary, its connotation seem to mean “boring” to most. You want the ordinary extraordinary experience, go to a place where there is very little material wealth and a lot of educated people (Cuba?) intermingling with country folk. Its all extra-ordinary once you remove yourself from the marketing machine that perpetuates endless wants.

Gibson purchase seems to be a good buy at $16 a meter. All who have read my never to be humble and very opinionated posts know that I believe Costa Rica to be on the way out for the avant guard and should become a retirement location for the rest IF it does not go the way of Florida and Arizona and IF the crime does not continue to spiral out of control.

Real estate speculation is inherently bad for all except the speculator. On the other hand, real estate development is good if it is in balance as it supplies needed homes. Speculation drive prices up when what is optimal is a steady and gradual advance in prices rather than radical spikes as we have seen over the last years.

What is your vision of CR? Mine was a place to be surrounded by people that are grounded, in touch with the earth. As CR moves farther away from AG based culture, it loses its attraction to my type. The more suburban CR becomes, the less smiles are found.

Sadly the smile rate and the monkeys are declining. What kills smiles? Materialism. It also kills monkeys. It seems that the only pura vida left is in the remote parts and as CR is very small nothing will be remote soon.

Gibson purchase will drive up prices and will be a good thing for the people who have money and like to live a socially isolated lifestyle. You know the US thing where women dress up for each other and men drive around in fat cars. For those of us who have money but prefer to stay grounded by blending into CR culture, driving 10 year old vehicles, living in the country and eating at sodas, basically trying to surround ourselves with grounded people, its going to be yet another straw on the camels back.

Is Gibson’s purchase good or bad? Depends on your self definition and what you have bought into. If you are coming to CR to live a natural life away from the artificial US culture with it marketing drama and confused social roles, it’s a bad thing, because here comes Madonna (a cultural turd and a marketing genius).

If you are coming to make money, well you better know what you are doing or you will end up lawyer feed. However, Gibson’s purchase should drive prices up for all the money lovers out there. Buy the way; I keep all my wealth in dirt. So I have plentiful resources but do not buy into the spend, spend, spend material world. Also I do not deficit finance anything. Most of my dirt sits vacant producing oxygen. When I get the urge I cut it up, deed restrict it and sell it.

To sum it up, Mel is a welcome wagon for US culture. More good little followers most ass-end in debt trying to prove they are somebody by the cloths they wear and the car they drive. This will be devastating to the already declining Tico culture.

What a beautiful response. It is all about balance and harmony. I think exposing imbalance is the way to create harmony. The ancient Chinese say if the moment is in balance, do not exploit it or – do not act. If there is violence (that which goes against nature (the tao)then act to correct it – harmaonize it to restore balance. Too many people are quick to change what is natural without experiencing, knowing the natural way first. That’s the buy in. It has become hip to be differnt at almost any expense creating extreme social imbalance.

Again ingrained masculine thinking. Your Nureo Lingustic Programing shows that you are indeed programmed to be competitive with men. You should be thinking “recive Diego” not “Take” Diegito. When it comes to men, only the Diegos amoung us do the taking. And please you girls don’t recive me seriously – life is too short and as Mick put it, “I’ll never, never, never, never be.” too many pretty girls to choose from.

I assume what you meant by “handle” is “tolerate.” Men and I did say MEN do not appreciate masculine women. Being a wage earner is one thing, smart is another, strong??? Now is that code for Masculine? You can be all of the above and still maintain a feminine identity. I date a Tica attorney who is all of the above yet would never dream of raising her voice to me, and I doubt if she would consider someone referring to her as a strong woman to be a compliment. Why, because she is smart enough to know that her feminine charms can get her much farther than confrontation and showing of that she can compete like a man. Most US chicks have a bad case of penis envy. If they would be proud of the genitals they were born with and act submissive (actually making their men feel dominant and empowered) they would have husbands that could not wait to come home to them. Instead, they have husband that have to “handle” them (tolerate).

Lotus. Points well taken and believe it or not we have much in common regarding the Asian philosophy. Also, I have no illusions regarding monogamy. I don’t think people are built for it. I have lived in Latin countries and fully understand that a fling or two not only spices up the love life when you return to the same old same old, and if handled discreetly does not hurt anyone (can you say motel Eden). Also if the other finds out, in most counties the soup eventually cools and it is no reason to break up a family – as in the US where most chicks run to get a divorce so they can collect the pension and reap a windfall. Women for there own selfish reasons do more to screw up families than men ever do. They place no importance on fatherhood and do not give the respect most good men deserve (cuz thy are not bad boys – they do not make their women submit), hence the cartoon. Regardless what you gals think about me, this attitude is prevalent and this post should inspire some self examination as you gals are the emotional backbone of the family. So act feminine and support your families by not competing with your men. Treat them like kings and I am positive they will treat you better than you ever expected. You might even have more frequent and better sex.

Now the Love Doctor has a word or two for you men: Just because the woman are emotionally stronger does not mean that you have to cave in all the time to maintain peace in the home. If you do this, you have firmly implanted the snout ring that your “woman” can lead you with. Yes you will be a beast of burden (didn’t Mick Jagger write a song about this?). So grow a spine and choose to be emotionally uncomfortable at times so you may have some justice in your household and a better sex life. Inside or outside the household.

The beer invite was because it seemed appropriate as the truck driver mouth usually indicates a taste for certain libations of the middle class male persuation.

Bad boys are as bad boys do and they do more then most. I know you would always Say that you agree. Where are you tonight sweet marvy?

Ahh… So you find me attractive… Again you prove my point. You hard head chicks with your power suits etc etc always want a man in the bedroom who will make you submit. I bet if you had a man in bed that didn’t practically rip the hair from your head at climax you’d kickem to the curb. I got your number.

I left a chick like you – made 100K a month as a mortgage banker, double fisted cell phones 600sl, land rover, personal shopper always sourounded by YES people, beautiful daughter she never paid attention to. She was crazy about me cause I used to spill the Opus One on her $100 a yard carpets, eat off the fine China and basically made her model house into a home (the interior decorator hated me – so she said).

Kicked her to the curb after she made a fool of her self in the first class cabin returning from CR acting like the nuevo riche little brat that she was.

I then started dating Cuban farm girls. It was great. Just bring a cow over to dad or some goats and the world is your oyster. Ahh the simple life. Cigars, rum, dancing and singing. No lip from the misses cuz if they became emotionally violent you just .. well you know. The way things should be, and then great make up sex. Nights in the Marina Hemingway, poolside at my house in Nautico, 57 Chevy hard top, 3 on the tree with a straight six. Guys hang with guys on Friday and Saturday night and the women gather in the parlor for a sewing circle(lol) … paradise.

If Castro would have only let me have a car, computer and allow me to fling real estate I would have never left. NEVER. Did I say never. Now the Ukraine is another story. But sadly too cold. Are you nauseated yet? Yeah, well I bet your turned on while your vomiting.

    Mar,

I see you have Scott B syndrome.

Well that’s OK, but your truck driver mouth and the last sentence of your post well illustrates my point.

You sound like a blast to have a beer with and I like your politics as for a woman with your POV, well lets just say I’ll stick to Ticas and Ukrainians.

If a man talks to another man in the way some women talk to men they would be punched out. But noooo, women hide behind the weaker sex skirt and man bash away. Although they may be physically weaker, they are emotionally stronger. So why are they not prosecuted for emotional violence as men are prosecuted for physical violence.

Violence to me is what violates what is natural. A woman behaving as if there is no chance of physical repercussions because they are weaker is unnatural. Two strikes – emotional violence and hiding behind the weaker sex skirt.

You want an example of a double standard?

In movies and television you frequently see men being stuck in the genitals by women as a comic situation. Has anybody ever seen a woman being struck in the genitals by a man? Rest my case.

Have you seen this Maravilla? Please answer that before you get out the clippers.

Women in the US are not happy being feminine, they want to be masculine. Another sickness in the US culture. Too bad that we have paid such a high price for all the great ideas and inventions the US has created. What price you say? The death of femininity. Female masculinity and the raised by the mother home have birthed male femininity. No Lotus I am not homophobic, I just think homosexuality is violent.

Then Diego pulls out the dinero
And they say my my what a wad-ero!
Ok, you can stay and play away
In the land where the local don’t obey
    Their laws and don’t care–o!

David, you’d be better off living by the laws of God rather than the laws of man which are just set ups. But I am sure that you have been castrated by the system and no longer wish to defend those who value freedom that is truly free. Not the freedom if you follow the rules kind – as you eschew.

A bad jailhouse experience can cause neutered character. Freedom or death. BTW – No one gets out alive.

Scott B – Ticos do not follow their own laws and you should learn from them. Just because it’s a law doesn’t mean it’s just or right. Legal is not a substitute for ethical.

This post is not the opinion of the site host

    – its just the demented opinion of one bad-boy participant (who gets the girls – Eh, Lotus – you starting to figure it out????). But then again, watchout you do not agree withh that bad boy outlaw Diego. All you girls reading?? I hope so…

Death to the outlaws you say. Well where you gonna run to when your freedom runs dry? Oh now you are going to get a gun and protect yourself when there are not any, because the good little followers have allowed the benevolent government to ban them. Hmmmmm

Mar – you say leave the Twinkies at home – and I agree. Why not leave the “depend on the government” attitude at home too. The US is importing the good little follower syndrome to CR. What a shame.

    Don’t do it.

Put it this way. I have talked to tens of people who have done it.

Although I have heard horror stories and no big deal stories, When I ask the question – would you do it again? – not once has any one said – yes. Not once. nough said for me.
