Tao,
Music to my ears.
diegoMemberPT’s get a bad rap. It’s part of the western indoctrination syndrome. The good little follower thing.
Hey Terry, do I know you from casa Roland???
diegoMemberTao,
Do you support the idea of a new international airport on the Osa??
I consider this a very telling question and if you do not think a simple yes or no will suffice, then please elaborate on you ansewer.
Thank you for your good intentions and any and all work you have done to help stand up for the Osa.
diegoMemberI feel better after reading your reply. Thank you.
Also I am sure you gained some clients through referals….
Please help to take good care of everybody’s Osa.
diegoMemberAmen
diegoMemberThat was not meant to an attack.
Who is going to “stand up” for the Osa? Who is looking out for it?
The Osa is the best of the best. It needs to be protected and not with just rhetoric.
I think I presented a great idea regarding deed restrictions. But that went overlooked because of my passion for the Osa and what was perceived as an attack.
What are her ideas and what are her previous actions that demonstrate her intentions. Some of us are doers and some are talkers. I am just trying to figure out if someone who represents property for sale in the most biologically sensitive place in the world has good intentions and more importantly implements those intentions.
Tao are you for the proposed international airport in that region?
If you are there to protect the Osa, lets here how and what you have done. If you are a real estate agent seeking profit – that’s fine, I have no problem with that. But a real estate agent using the guise of an environmentalist to me is abhorrent. I am NOT saying that she is doing so, nor implying such. I am just trying to find out which side of the Eco pie is she on?
diegoMemberFive more years….
I see some of you are getting the “leave the gringo mentality at the airport” vibe. Very Good. Come to CR to do as the Romans do, or don’t go to Rome. Rome is Rome, lets try and leave it that way.
Although, I am still sorry to say it but I will repeat “5 more years.”
diegoMemberapexit,
I sent a note to Scott and he indicated he did not know about any of this.
diegoMemberI am armed to the teeth. Rottwilers too! I dont depend on the government to protect me. Never have, never will.
I’m officially on vacation so whoever miss M is will have to wait.
See you in CR sometimes. Lets have a beer and do manly stuff, you know berp and fart and leer at women – normal neandrathall night. Hey we can even rise above the 5 letter per word limit. but I may get confused…. errrrrrrrrrppp.
diegoMemberThanks Lotus,
“Only an alert and knowledgeable citizenry can compel the proper meshing of the huge industrial and military machinery of defense with our peaceful methods and goals, so that security and liberty may prosper together.”
—Dwight D. Eisenhower, Farewell Address 17 January, 1961I accept homosexuals but do not condone it. This types of decadency rots a nation and again most homosexuals are into it for the fad rather than physilogical reasons. David Bowie and Mick Jagger popularized the fad if you are old enough to remember.
So “just born that way” is true, but only to a limited extent. I see homosexuality also as a companionship issue. Without getting into it too much, a lot of it is based on TV perception of what a “relationship” is. These portrayals have led to unrealistic expectation from men and women, therefore much disatisfaction. Also the fact the women are more masculine now has emasculated many borderling strong males, making them unattractive to women as they continue to seek a hyper masculine male to balance their escalting masculinity(although they wont admit it). Femininity is out of style. Women say they like the sensitive types but after controlling them they desire the ones who are in charge – its phyisiological.
Also as people grow older their chemistry changes and women literally become more masculine and men more feminine. These are complex issues, but the portrayal of various relatioships in the media has conditioned many to belive they are normal. Thus destroying traditional values that many seek in Costa Rica.
Many men go to CR looking for a traditional women. Unambitious and submissive who will be happy staying home with the children. Unfortunately this is changing rapidly in CR too. Basically motherhood is seen as a second class occupation. Too bad for the kids.
The media is destroying motherhood and fatherhood too, but in a differnt way. Look at the rate of children born to umarried mothers.
I’ll be back home in CR for the summer, so will not be posting as much (I am sure some of you will be delighted about that).
diegoMemberRoark from your passion, although be it misguided, (maravilla: ditto – but not misguided) I can tell you are a patriot, Thank you for caring, But you need to look deeper than the rethoric.
There is a lot of “crazy Wisdom” to war.” When you stop shoving things down peoples throat they tend to stop resisting. This is a basic physical reaction – as well as an emotional and intellectual one.
I was part of Viet Nam and Reid’s logic was mostly valid.
“That is also what Osama Bin Laden wants. Winning is doing the opposite of what your enemy wants.”
We played into Bin Laden’s hands. Using your logic, winning would have been not to empower Iran by invading Iraq.
“To help birth a nation and staying true to our promises is how we win.
What was our promise and who made it????
To help birth a nation in our image?
They obviously do not know enough about democracy to fight for it. Are we going to hang around there and have our troops killed for Iraqis. I don’t care to sacrifice our citizens to grant Iraqis freedom they will not come together for. Or fight for in a cohesive manner.
“We are there now, like it or not.”
That doesn’t mean we can’t leave. You are where you are now – and you can choose to leave. That’s a benefit of freedom, it called choice.
“If we leave, there will be massive murder of innocents and a haven for terrorists. That is what losing is.”
That was inevitable when we invaded without proper previous planning. Bush made that a reality, not us leaving. Bush has used the crisis he has created as an opportunity to profit, financially and politically.
It is the LACK of Planning and Bush’s arrogance that has empowered Iran and will lead to the INEVITABLE civil war that will reveal who will fill the power vacuum that the Bush Cheney war machine, so they could rein supreme among the Elite – has created.
“Do you think leaving is a better idea?”
Yes, because it is inevitable. Iraq was a cavity that could have been filled by replacing leadership. Not by destroying the governing system and trying to rebuild it. Oh what a great reason for an occupation!!! lets see 5 good years rebuilding (?) the goverment and Halliburton and their kind could rake in ca-billions. This is all about Power, and not Iraqis or US citizen power. It’s the elite in a pissing contest at out county’s expense.
“At this point don’t we owe it to the Iraqi people to stay and help fight the terrorists who want control of their country. “
Hell no! The terrorist will control the country if we stay. The power vacuum has not been filled. Once the strongest come to power, the civil unrest will stop. This may take years but thank georgie porgie for this (get down on your knees and thank the little tin God Bush).
We should all hang our heads in shame for the way we have let the Media decimate the chance of having any new dynamic leaders step up. The media is the enemy, PERIOD>
“Do you think the terrorists are neither a force of good or evil? Or a force of both? Just like you and me.”
Actually, those airplanes hitting the towers did our culture a lot of good.
We now see how other countries are sick of our perverse culture, Men are women / women are men. Rampant materialism and hedonistic movies. Our culture is rapidly losing all moral sense. Rap – need I say more? This county was based on the credo “In GOD We Trust” There have never been so many Godless souls in the US.
So if Islamic extremist kill 3,000 Americans to say “enough” with exporting your perverted culture, then yes I think they are a force of good although working in an evil way, just like our occupancy. Hey we gave it a go and there is no sense in throwing away good lives after bad decisions.
Our problem is people just don’t stand up anymore when they see unnatural/violent/beligernt behavior. They just turn their heads. This is a defect in our culture. EWre should say enough to the hollywood crap machine and stop buying their products, Stop worshiping stupid movie actors or worse slutty wealthy debutants.
IE: I picked up my 7 year old from school after a late soccer practice. As we were leaving there were 4 teenagers dressed in black skateboarding. Jumping on curbs, hand rails etc. My kid said, “Dad we just got new lunch tables and the teacher said they are already scratched up by the skate boarders.”
I took my cell phone and took pictures of them jumping and banging things up.” Then I walked up to them and took pictures of their faces. They started to leave. One kid turned and said “You didn’t have to take pictures of us, all you had to do was ask us to leave.” I told them “all of you drop your skate boards or I am calling the police and giving them these pictures (I also photoed their license plate number).” They all gave up their boards. I gave then a business card, collected their boards and told them if they want them back have their parents call me.
That was Saturday.
Not one parent has called.
I got in the car and my kid said “Dad, thanks for protecting my school.” What she didn’t understand is I was protecting our culture by saying ENOUGH and doing something about it.
How many citizens would have ignored the potential vandalism? That’s my point – no body stands up…. We need to stand up to the press and the movie industry! Enough vulgarity.
diegoMemberEverybody lost as soon as we went to war – EVERYBODY!
The US is niether a force of good or evil. It is simply a force of both. Just like you and just like me.
Please tell me what is winning in Iraq?
Making it like the US, imposing our values and culture (?) on them.
If that is winning I guess we are winning in Costa Rica too.
diegoMemberYoiu are naive because being likable and open has nothing to do with following the law.
Costa Rica used to be a place where people came to escape the US. It used to be called the land of the wanted and unwanted. Literally and figuratively. It looks like its going to be like the US now. Filled with follower drones ramping up the size of the government by increasing the taxes.
Give me small government, pot holes and infrastructure that is faulty, blackouts and all, before turning the populace and country into indoctrinated citizen that think they need big government to protect them and care for them. All this naiveté about being good little drones and playing by the rules which are designed to enlarge government, are not Tico customs.
Tico custom is to keep government small by not participating.
Most Gringos, like some of the ones writing here are speaking about Tico customs they know nothing about. They have their idea what Tico customs are or should be, but obviously have no practical experience with Ticos and their customs because the rule of Tico customs is to ignore laws that sponsor larger government. And good for them. Its the Gringo drones coming to CR and declaring full price on their property purchase (a Tico would never do that) that are working against Tico culture.
I’ll make a point. How many of you can honestly say that you know Ticos that file and pay their income taxes. Come on tell the truth. I am not talking about the isolated case here and there. I do not know any Ticos that even know when income taxes are due let alone pay them. That is not an exagerations. Antbody? Rest my point.
Please do not confuse Tico culture with Tico law. That is like using legality as criteria for ethics. What is legal is not necessarily ethical. So all those arm chair experts who whish to comment about Costa Rica culture please state your qualifications, your experience. I have 20 years under my belt. Seems like we have a lot of experts (?) expounding on that which they have no practical experience.
Most Gringos want to refashion Tico culture in the Gringo image. Ticos laugh at this. And only recently has the indoctrinated mentality began to penitrate the green wall. Too bad. 5 more years boys and girls, five more years and you will have so many Gringos down here participating with the system that Tico culture will be shot to hell and the reason people came to CR, escape high taxes etc will be gone.
Remember the US was founded by outlaws. Those escaping taxes. And every one is quick to fault the outlaws. Historically it has been the mavericks that blaze new ground. Most of you would have never heard of CR now if it wasn’t for the mavericks that went before you.
Also when the US have put the details on your indoctrination and now wants to take away your guns (no doubt with your approval due to your indoctrination) who will you run to when the poop hits the fan. The outlaws? Not likely because you have eliminated them all. Keep up the indoctrination diet US citizens and see where it gets you.
“US Love it or Leave it.” That’s why CR is so popular, as many do not love the US anymore so they are leaving it. To do what? Turn it into another US? This is done by influencing CR culture. When you come to CR play by the rules. The Tico cultural rules that is. Keep big government out!
diegoMemberStan,
There are specialists in different types of criminal law on many different legal echelons. There are criminal prosecutors and criminal defense attorneys. There are those that prosecute fraud etc. There are firms that handle both criminal and civil cases simultaneously. They prosecute the defendant outside the fiscal (district attorney) and get things done rather quickly and competently. Working outside the cumbersome CR penal system is recommended for quicker results.
Tell me your circumstances and I can help point you in the right direction. If there is a lot of money involved such as a land fraud case (estafa) you need a heavy hitter or it will take forever.
diegoMemberYes she speaks English?
