We are in the Grecia area. Does anyone know a few good
craftman for DOORS and Cabinets..US style. We looked at pre
made doors in EPA and they are not made well and cheaply made.Or can recommend another store?
We did get one price from someone but they figured American
can double pay. We just did our kitchen in USA and it was double the size and nicer work. The price we got here was double the price and half the cabinets.
Does anyone know good, FAIR, Craftsmen? Some english would help.Joe
US style ? LOL. Go to Homeless Despot and order some of their garbage.
Good Lawdy. You are in the land of high quality wood and craftsmanship.
Get a young translator and go to some saw mills. Those dudes will steer you straight.Doug WardMember

Yes and don’t recommend it, didn’t deal with a serious gum problem before going ahead with dental work. Didn’t even mention the problem. Like Prisma Dental a lot.
Thanks, I’m checking into them
Juven Solano. Tilaran
Thanks, I looked for Dr. Solano on the net and couldn’t find anything.I live in the states and would be coming back to Costa Rica for a bit of dental work. Is English spoken at Dr. Solano and do you know if they have a website?
Thanks everyone!
I don’t believe he has a site. This is a very rich town, by CR standards, so he has no need to approach “dental tourism” He’s a youngish guy (35-40?) and lived in the Empire for several years. His Ingles is impeccable and his gadgetry is top of the line.
His CR number is 2695 6560.
He’s not only my dentist but a good friend to boot. We are in a very small community up here.
I’m killing a pig Saturday and I imagine Juven will be up here for some chicharrones and some beers.Doug WardMemberJuven Solano. Tilaran
Doug WardMember
here one would need a bodyguard if one lived a $100k lifestyle, but why would one want to???
Well. 2 employees in Miamistan ran me about 20K/year/pp. Property taxes were 10 grand. Electric ran $700/mo.Car insurance (mandatory) was $2300 a year.
Homeowners/hurricane/flood ran about 3 grand.
100 grand in Miami is nothing to brag about. $2500 a month does ok here.
Contrary to the “info” from Christopher ??? ( I need to buy a comb)my gardener costs me $600 a month if you include the INS policy and seguros. Add to that aginaldo and vacations.
The girl that works in the house is the wife of one of my construction employees-best buddies so she just works day to day.
I’m getting her a music keyboard-organ for “aginaldo”Doug WardMember
yeah, and with that $100,000 a year lifestyle, be prepared to have full-time bodyguards.
Where ? In Miami, or here ?
I AM my bodyguard.8)Doug WardMember
After reading all the different commentaries it seems fair to conclude that with $100K a year to live off one can live like a king there. Am I correct?
Sure. I spend about 2500 a month. In Miami I spent 10 grand/month for the equivalent.Doug WardMemberThe best Italian restaurant here is on the road between Nuevo Arenal and Tilaran. Cafe Macadamia.
The best Chinese place is run by a Chinaman in Canas, can’t recall the name but if you go there just ask for the best Chinese food.
There is also an Argentine steak house in Tilaran.Fantastic.
My mental passport wont allow me to enter the central valley.Doug WardMember
Glad to find you found a card. Maybe the CR banks have changed policies in the last eight years (thanks to BIG BROTHER) but I have two company and two personal accounts with BCR with debit cards and have never had to show any tax returns or letters from accountants. Guess I got “grand-fathered” somehow.
Me niether ?
I opened mine in late 2004.Doug WardMember
Is there any way to get a new windshield for a car without going to San Jose?
Trying to be non-obnoxious (hard thing to do)
Where are you ? If you’re in Guanacaste go to Canas and ask for the taller de Hymie.
If you’re near San Carlos ask anyone for Chino ( de Varela-Torrez). These 2 are problem solvers. Bring some Spanish with you.Doug WardMember
Drive down the Jaco strip any night at midnight and all your questions will be answered.
You nailed it !Doug WardMemberI just met a guy who brought 2 bulldogs into Liberia on AA.No problems.
As I’ve always said, San Jose is NOT Costa Rica.Doug WardMemberGive it a couple of years and it’ll be $500 the way the clowns in DC are ” takin’ care o’ bidness”.
Doug WardMember
I think all Latin countries have this bureaucrazy! It started 500 years ago with the Spanish keeping meticulous records of every damn thing. This is pretty accurate and funny!!
Put the video under ignorant morons with zero guts or common sense on Wikipedia.Doug WardMember
Well, if the jobs they’re creating are all in India, China, Africa and Costa Rica, why in the devil are the wizards in Congress so hellbent upon giving these corporations tax incentives using American dollars? Why not rely on the Indians, et al, to supply the incentives? Why us?
They are ! They borrow the money from those countries, give it to their corporate pimps and YOU get to pay the interest on it !
It’s just business.Doug WardMemberLOL.
