Units are within the building that he resides. They’ve been empty for over 2 years and it is a nice place.

What is happening day by day in the USA is a lot better than what is happening day by day in Costa Rica.

By the time that young democracy gets better, since you guys are mostly Baby Boomers, you’ll be dead before a noticeable change takes place.

It is a panacea for very few issues, because all of CR’s issues, are many times worst than in the USA. Someone should start a website for the Americans who left CR to comment – 2 years is usually all people can take of that country. Most of the babyboomers on this site are new there (or just dreaming of being there) so you are still talking as if it is just so wonderful…. give it time, many come running back home because the USA compared to CR is a smooth running machine.

You can run to CR, but you can’t run from being an American. If America is so bad, become a citizen of that great Costa Rica and denounce your American citizenship. Oh, no, you won’t do that, that is too scary. After you do that, you’ll be in a great position to knowing how Costa Rician citizens feel about their gov’t which CAN NOT be GOOD (remember those presidents, how many in jail?). If you had to worry about the Costa Rician gov’t the same way you have to worry about the USA gov’t and the same way Costa Ricians worry about their gov’t, worrying about the US gov’t is a lot less stressful.

    What a bunch of crybabies.

Oooops, forgot to mention leaving your home in CR… can you do it with any comfort or should you worry about all your nice neighbors coming in to steal all of your material wealth?

I don’t have to lock my car or my doors… I don’t have to worry about anyone steal my pure breed dog from my yard.

No worries in CR…. yeah, right. Be sure to wear your gasmask in SJ when you go to protect you from the smoking buses, trucks and cars…. don’t take it off in the bar, lots of second hand smoke in there. It is so relaxing in CR, such a great place…. if you need a hooker.

I hope the America women who go to CR with their husbands or BFs are secure in their relationships because all is takes is 40 dollars to have a little on the side.

Don’t get me wrong – I LIKE COSTA RICA!!!! I just don’t think it is any better than the USA, actually worse, much much worse in many many ways, but this is the part that I like, it is something different but NOT better than the USA.

What a bunch of crybabies! Instead of doing anything to make the world a better place, you run away to Costa Rica which is absolutely NO better by a long shot that the US of A. Anyone ever been near a bus or a big truck in CR – all that black crap coming out of the tailpipes? Even the little things like trying to cross the street… amazing that cars really do have the right of way. Where there are sidewalks, they really suck. I was in a taxi on my way to the airport in CR, cop pulled us over, I had to pay my fare up front so the driver could pay the cop 15$ to leave. You aren’t allowed to complain unless you are doing something proactive to repair/change what you think is so bad in the USA, because otherwise you are just a crybaby and people tire of what you have to say. No one will listen in the real world so you get on a REAL ESTATE website to puke all over people about the injustices that you are RUNNING from – weak!

How many of the last 3 presidents in CR have went to jail? Sure you can fire back with something about a US lawmaker going to jail, but all I’m saying is that CR is no different, actually worse. You guys go to CR to be bystanders – to live a unless life yet you complain about the USA. How lame, shame on you!

Get off your high horse, none of you are any better than anyone in our past or present governments. Please, go buy another selfhelp book.

Not 1 lawyer, but 2 lawyers… see if 1 lawyer says the same as the other lawyer and don’t tell the lawyers who the other lawyer is.

davidcmurray is right, realtors brake hard for a high commission so sell your house yourself. Put a sign and flyers in front offering 4%, 4.5% or 5% (whatever) to the buyer’s broker and when realtors come to your neighborhood to show a house that is listed on MLS, they’ll also stop to see your house. They’ll also try to get their client to purchase your home if it is as nice as the others nearby because the commission is so much higher!

This is how I sold my house just a few months ago.

Prices in California have not declined very much. We have a lot of regulation here to build and not much available space so there is a housing shortage here. The people who are in a bad position are those that “have” to sell for any reason. With so many houses on the market, it does take time, but prices are still very high here.

Maravilla won’t reduce the price, but continues to pay mortgage, maintenance, taxes, electricity, water, insurance, expense of travel back and forth from CR…. nope, there isn’t anything emotional about this. If you rent it while it is on the market, you won’t get what others are getting because your tenants could care less about keeping it clean for potential buyers. Buying a house to LIVE IN (not as an investment) is all about emotion and I doubt a dirty or messy house will stir up any good emotions. Oooops, except the emotion which says, we could get this messy place for a lot less than they are asking for it.

Hey folks, it could be worse, I hear it takes years to sell a house in Costa Rica…. especially condos because a condo is a condo is a condo. A friend of mine lives near Santa Ana in a condo, on the 7th floor, and there are still condos for sale by the builder 2.5 years after completion and his 2 bedroom condo is really nice! Imagine being in a building, wanting to sell your condo and the builder still has available units – YUCK!

Maravilla says “good grief, when i read such uninformed b.s i am thankful to be out of the fourth reich and living in the land of pura vida.”

Pura Vida can easily be found in rural America – no need to go to CR for Pura Vida. Turn on CNN in Pura Vida whether in CR or rural America and your Pura Vida sours. Pura Vida is less about “where” you live – it is more about “how” you live.

The older I get the less I care about anything political. Leave the political crap to the younger folks, they have to deal with the world longer than I so it is more their responsibility (if they so choose).

Just FYI – If you are still p***** about 20 year old political messes then you aren’t living the Pura Vida no matter where you are…. let it go.

A lot of laws are selectively enforced. A lot are enforced against those that the CR gov’t knows are working illegally in the country.

If you have money, plenty of money, I, for one, wouldn’t sweat it, because they want your money spent in CR. You are taking a chance, but I doubt the odds are against you. If CR is very important to you, follow the law/reg. If you could live in Panama or another country should CR deny you, move when they do. CR isn’t the be-all of end-all to everyone.

It isn’t a good idea to build if you aren’t in the country.

It isn’t a good idea to own in CR if you aren’t living in CR – the more you own, the more it owns you, especially when you own in a foriegn country. If you are buying for investment, there are still plenty of investment opportunities in the good ole USA.

There is nothing exotic about owning investment RE in a foriegn country.

Wait until you can live in CR to build in CR. Rent for a year, then start building. You can find a really nice rental that you can make into a very comfortable home while you wait for your home to be built. I like the building idea better than buying what exists, because this is exciting to me, but only if I were present throughout the whole process.

Hey Dwayne, “USA – Zero and Costa Rica Three’- sounds like Costa Rica is winning to me. SHOULD doesn’t count??? An ADJUSTMENT isn’t a RAISE??? Oil has NOTHING to do with it???
    >>>>>>>

Gr… in England, when playing game of darts, you count down from 301 or 501 so sometimes a low score like in golf means you are a winner.

It is an ADJUSTMENT – there is a difference.

I don’t think it is about oil – nothing about oil.

What upsets me about Maravilla is that she can’t talk about anything expect the bad. She has that, “the gov’t owes me” attitude.

Lots of the SSI, mental disability, folks living in CR. She sounds like one of them…. crying and complaining even while the free check is being delivered.

Maravilla, I was in the Air Force, we received a cost of living raise every year! Oh, and it isn’t a RAISE, it is an ADJUSTMENT! We did get raises when Congress approved of one, but they didn’t materialize every year. What Congress is getting is a cost of living ADJUSTMENT Maravilla.

Now you are in spin mode Maravilla. Did you know what you know now about the cost of living adjustment before you posted earlier?

Oh, and here I am watching Bonham of U2 on 60 Minutes sayings that 200 thousand Africans owe their lives to America – we gave 12 billion for AIDS meds.

Oh, and lets not forget what the capitalist PIGS are doing up there in Seattle, the one named Bill Gates who is giving BILLIONS to the world’s children and let’s not forget the other capitalist PIG, Warren Buffet, who is giving 30 billion to the Gates Foundation so now the foundation is worth something like 68 billion dollars.

Americans are the most generious people in the world Maravilla. If you can’t find something good to say about her – give it a rest. If there is anything I can’t stand is a American who has far more opportunity than near any other in the world, complain about how bad she is without recognizing the good. SSI cry babies get no respect.

Maravilla, it isn’t about SHOULD…. let’s deal with the facts Maravilla. USA – Zero and Costa Rica – Three.

Like I said, Maravilla, you are just a sound bite.

Maravilla, you sound like one big sound bite.

It seems you think the world outside the USA is great and the USA is awful. This is sad. Instead of bad mouthing the USA, try to give her one compliment for every negative that you are so good at dispensing.

The USA isn’t perfect, but there is a reason why the world wants into the USA… beating down the door to the country at 150 on the “happy country” list (what a joke). The world wants to go to our colleges. Have you ever been in a taxi in SJ? Did you hear the AMERICAN music playing in ENGLISH (this happens to me all the time)? How about our consideration for handicapped people…. any handicap parking in SJ, any sidewalk corner cut down for wheelchairs?

Costa Rica – hasn’t the last 3 presidents of CR ended up in jail?

Give it a rest Maravilla. The USA isn’t all that bad Maravilla.

They vote themselves pay hikes, but NOT EVERY YEAR as you said.

I’m not going to do your research for you, but if you don’t know that they actually seldom vote themselves a pay hike then you really don’t know much about Washington (no offense, just matter of fact).

I can tell you that I think that they are UNDER PAID for what they do. Many a people who work way less hours in less responsible positions actaully make more than our leaders. My GF’s daughter who is a loan officer and who is only 23 made over 200,000 last year in California and she is on target for the same again this year.
