Why does it have to be a Siamese ? There are so many beautiful “normal” cats around, don´t be a racist, adopt a “zaguatito” :D
Why do some prefer German Sheppards and some Poodles? Guess the breed characteristics are different for different breeds!!!
I know I know, just advertizing animal adoption, myself I prefer Mix bred. I had and have a few pure bred dogs (all adopted) and nothing but health problems. German shep died suddenly at age 6, Schnauzer has skin problems, Aussie Shep has stomach problems, Husky has epileptic attacks and went blind at age 7 (glaukoma)……. Never had problems with “Zaguates”

elindermullerMember
Remember, our pride of home ownership and level of comfort aren’t fulfilled by waiting for the inevitable storms to pass. “Hasta manana” is a local tradition that most foreigners have been exposed to. In order to survive down here in the jungle, property owners need to learn how to deal with Costa Rica’s unique climatic characteristics in order to protect their investments.
Therefore I am glad I live in the higher areas at Lake Arenal. The water always goes down hill, if you build right and the roof does not leak, you never have problems with flooding.
elindermullerMember
does anyone here have any information regarding the use of fidecomiso to replace using S.A. for holding property and vehicles etc??

elindermullerMember
I am currently out of the country. I want to pay my taxes online. I have a banco nacional account. Can I psy the tax online from Banco Nacional to BCR?
No, only if you have an account with BCR and therefore can do online banking. You can not transfer from BNCR to BCR.
You can pay the tax when you come back to Costa Rica, since you only have to pay a small fine or interest (25 Colones for inactive or 50 Colones for active Corps. per day)
But make sure you come back during the next 3 years, otherwise the government shuts down the corp. and puts a lien on your property (if the corp. is holding property).elindermullerMember
oh, come on, all of latin america is rife with bribery to the higher ups. to think otherwise is completely naive. it’s how it’s always been and how it will always be.
I AGREE 100 %
elindermullerMemberOne thing is the residency part, the other is the survival part. In this sick economy I just don’s see how to make a decent living if you do not bring a big junk of money to invest and make a start somehow. In order to run a business you don’t need residency (just leave the country every 3 months) but you will have to hire employees because you are only allowed to manage, not work. Plus you will want decent education for your teenagers which costs money too.
The kids may one day marry a Tico and/or have a Tico Baby, then you can get residency as a first grade relative.elindermullerMemberthe last thing I heard / read about that tax is that all the corporations are being charged as inactive. The Tax department was supposed to provide a list of the active corps. to the national registry, which they off course not did. Now the registry is supposed to find out on their own ….. therefore no matter if your corp. is active (business registered with tax department) or inactive, you pay only the 140 $ (mas o menos)
Nevertheless, I will wait until last minute, plus, I read that the fines for late payment are tiny.elindermullerMemberhttp://www.nacion.com/2012-04-05/Economia/1-525-sociedades-ya-pagaron-nuevo-impuesto.aspx
Seems that BCR has figured it out, over 1500 corporations already have paid their tax.

Don´t forget to include Lake Arenal in your travel list in case you have not been here. Lake Arenal is and has been for 20 years my home and favorite place in Costa Rica.
I did have the chance to spend a couple of days around Lake Arenal and I think it’s gorgeous. I tend to be drawn to the higher altitude areas….those places that have fireplaces for the evening. I am SICK of hot, humid Texas summers and want some comfort in my aging years….lol. We will be spending a a day in La Fortuna during our next trip. Do you have a view of Arenal Volcano? We stayed at Arenal Observatory Lodge and I found the volcano to be awesome.
The higher areas are definitely the better choice to live all year around with pleasant temperatures and green nature. The beaches are close and can be reached in less then 2 hours in case you want to see the ocean and get fried for a few hours or days. Myself, currently I live in Tilaran, with my kids high school close by, but I hope to move back to the Lake (and Volcano view) soon.
elindermullerMembersecond half can be the last day and I agree, don’t let them make a dime of interest on our money. I also paid a traffic ticked of almost 300 $ which would now be a fraction of that.
elindermullerMemberI will definitely not pay until the second half of April. They should have worked it out by then, maybe…….. 🙄
elindermullerMember
I’ve been researching moving to Costa Rica for about 4 years and would love to liquidate tomorrow and make the move. I believe my husband is about ready to jump on board as well because of the same reasons you mention.
We are planning our 4th trip this summer and hope to narrow the places we’d like to live. Right now, we’re thinking Orosi, San Isidro, or Los Santos area. Still want to check our Santiago de Puriscal.
I wish you the very best of luck on your new venture
Pura Vida!
