Punta Leona has one of the most beautiful & what I consider safest beaches in CR. This is a resort with swimming pools, beach and other activities. I was not impressed by their rooms however, but good enough to spend 2/3 days
elticoMemberSprite. Cuba has had fake elections for years. If you do not vote for Fidel, consider yourself dead. People have no freedom of speech or freedom of any kind for that matter. People could not tell you otherwise, because they are contantly watched and listened to. Nobody dares to speak against the revolution.
Please do not compare Costa Rica with Cuba. Ticos are most proud of their beautiful country and the democracy they live in.
elticoMemberThank you David for all the wonderful information. I think that I might finally convince my wife to retire in Costa Rica.
elticoMemberDavid: You made a very good point about a serious illness. That is why we are so scare to make the move, in spite of all the beauty that this country offers.
I am curious to find out how most american retirees living in Costa Rica handle this situation? Do they majority of them plan to live there for as long as their health allows and then move back?
elticoMemberThank you so much for this information. It was more than I expected and very useful.
My wife and I both have pre-existing conditions, so we have been debating whether to move to C.R. now or until we qualify for Medicare. In the event of a major illness we could always return here for treament. But the medical care there sounds good and not at all expensive.Thank you again for taking the time to answer.
elticoMemberThank so much Scott, this article was very helpful. It looks like it is to my advantage to pay in dollars to avoid the rent increase.
