You are putting them on trial Mr.Judgey Mc.Judgerson. What gives you the right, are you working for immigration? If not, leave them to their job,it’s not yours “legally”. Scott has over and over stated his position on working illegally here so you don’t need to police his choices either. He doesn’t advise it and warns against the risks, and he does a fine job without your direction.

    Hmmm,

3rd generation antibiotics, I am interested in hearing more.

Scott- Can you pass along my email to them, so that we may further talk? Thank you.

in reply to: Mobile/Manufactured homes. Will they sell? #193890

Manufactured homes have major issues with mold. All of the doors in a manufactured house don’t touch the floor, they are two inches short to allow for airflow in the house because it is such a problem. My inlaws bought a brand new one in Oregon 5 years ago and it was nothing but problems. And, they added lots of extra windows and fans when they custom designed theirs to improve the air flow. Here we live in the tropics, what are your plans to combat the mold issues?

    Hola,
I also live with the effects of Lyme’s disease. I got it about 20 years ago in California and was on Antibiotics for 2 years. Of course back then they didn’t know much about it, and I wasn’t treated right away. My family doc thought Lymes was a made up excuse of an illness. The west coast was and is still way behind on recognizing and treating Lymes. In fact doctors don’t want to acknowledge it exists because the insurance companies don’t want to pay for treatment. My own doc (a dermatologist) that eventually treated me pretends to have a fuzzy memory about my case and claims not to have the records anymore because it has been more than 7 years. My mom is a nurse, they worked together, and she ran the support group in our county and he still doesn’t recall…
It can be frustrating finding support and treatment in the states and here it’s probably more difficult. Nobody I mention it to has ever heard of Lymes here, but there seems to be a tick borne disease that dogs get here that is extremely similar. Everyone seems to have heard of it and seen a poor dog suffer through or pass on, it is called something like trichinitis. Personally I find Costa Rica to be a great location to live with the arthritis, much less pain for me here than in the california mountains during the winter. For me the pain gets a little worse each year and it seems to affect new areas too, I think that’s pretty normal for us. They say it hibernates in the body and you can relapse. I do know CR has the hyperbaric oxygen chambers here that some people like to use for treatment . So you may be able to seek out some alternative treaments, but probably not though a Lyme literate doc.
Sorry to babble so much, but your wife is the first person I have heard of with the same condition here in Rica. I wish you tons of luck and if she ever wants a sympathetic ear, I would be glad to listen.

We flew Frontier out of Sacramento, through Denver to Rica about 4 months ago. It was really nice traveling through the small airports. I would do it again for sure!

    Umm Dockers,

You live in SFO, and don’t have to worry about crime? Will your flower pot be safe if it isn’t nailed down over in the Mission district or Hunters Point? I worked there in your city for 10 years, in fact I modeled for Levi’s a few times too. They were a great company and had lots of great programs for the employees in the city. But, it was not perfectly clean, safe, unpolluted city you describe. More dangerous than San Jose Costa Rica by far. But maybe you live in the Marina district or another wealthy area and don’t have to look at it daily. You can do the same thing here in Costa Rica, live in a rich secure area and not live with those problems. Probably in the house Scott just sold, a specialty house for a specialty client, would provide just that. Can you rent your house in SFO for that 10% of 1.6 million? I am not bashing California though, I love it there too. I think San Francisco is a great and diverse city, but come on… The problems that city faces dwarf Costa Rica’s problems.

    Davidmcmurray-
Does this work for those blue crabs?

    Orignial poster-
Bring a good dehydrator, the fruit and vegis are plentiful, but almost always fresh. I do occasional buy dried fruit but most of it is imported and expensive. Biolandia (the organic health food co.) dries banannas and maybe another fruit too that is availiable at the supermarket.

    in reply to: Dengue #191568

Well, since only watchdog responded, I guess dengue isn’t to bad right now. Fingers crossed that it’s true nobody knows anywhere else other than Jaco that has an early problem. My nanny reports that they sprayed her area a couple times. She also added they are taking ambulances full of people to the public hospitals for further treatment.

How do you manage to have “about four girlfriends”? Sounds like BS to me. Your just pulling a number from your bum. When I first read your responses I laughed. Almost comical, are you serious, or just stirring the pot. Was one of your “almost girlfriends” that cow your so angry with? Marvilla had it right when she offered the clarification of latin women running the house without the man realizing, because she also make him feel powerful. It can be a great balance, and you can see many asian relationships follow the same course. No one is whipped in my house, thanks for asking. My husband is great and make great decisions for our family, to bad you haven’t had the same sucess. It seems a woman really hurt your feelings, because you are one angry dude. You are airing lots of issues and displacing them on others as “thats your problem, not mine”. I bet these angry words towards the women on this board are things you never got to say to someone who hurt you. I feel sorry for you now.

in reply to: Have You Priced Airfares Lately? #191144

Our last trip we flew out of Sacramento through Denver to San Jose (9hours total) on Frontier for less than 500 bucks. We only booked them 3 days in advance. This was less than half the price of everyone else, and the layover was only an hour. This was about 6 weeks ago.

in reply to: Herpes & STDs in Costa Rica #191190

Yes, what would you know Soflodoug? Maybe american women are trying to escape people like you, with your crappy attitude towards everything and everyone. May you one day be blessed with a latina woman, and then you will know who really dominates the household.

As for the actual topic- My ninera reports to me the doctor in the clinic in Jaco tells her Jaco is rampant with disease. Many young women are being exposed and a few are starting to come down with uterine cancer as a result. A 16 girl with a newborn just died from it this year. She was not a prostitute, it was a gift from her cheating boyfriend. The doctor told my ninera 90% of women locally infected with something. The teachers from her children’s school paint another horrid picture. They say many of the girls from the collegio work the streets at night. As a result many of them are willing to have sex in the bathrooms during school hours. Another boy will sneak in and film the whole thing on the cell phone and mass mail it to everyone else in school. Innocence lost for this generation, and now she is afraid to let her daughter continue school next year.

I drove by Hermosa Vista last week when I read about this and it looked to me like business as usual. Guys working, guards at he gates, and I didn’t see any type of yellow tape or signs indicating the closure. Do you think they are just ignoring the municipal? I looked at these lots a month or so ago, they were not for sale yet, so maybe future buyers haven’t lost out yet.

I was also curious about the Hills of Esterillos project. Yesterday I was at Esterillos Oeste and I saw a development I thought had the same name. They were also active and building away. Is this the same project, or just one with a similar name?

in reply to: CPS or Panni? #187053

Thank you both for your replies. I actually have heard rumors about everything you mention Rebaragon. I am worried about what happens to the girls after though. I don’t think another family member seems to be a good choice, they all seem to be involved or benefitting. Let’s just say I have seen a range of disturbing things, that has brought me to this point. I never imagined interfering into another family’s life in such a dramatic fashion. And, of course I do fear retaliation…
