Slightly off topic of truck noise…..Last year we stayed in an ABSOLUTELY gorgeous new hotel
in the southern zone. The breakfast area/pool looked out over the ocean and scarlet macaws visited mid morning in the almendro trees below. The owners were fabulous and friendly US expats. In the late evening the bar below the hotel on the costenera had locals trying to sing American pop songs through the Karaoke amplifier. Now I’m no prude but where I’m from the Karaoke noise stays IN the bar where there are windows and walls.
All in good fun, it was a true travel memory!

Yes Grayline is comfortable and more expensive. Another option for travelers, no?

    dkt2u,
I have heard these same things regarding these illegal structures on this section of the beach. I heard that story over 3 years ago about the pulperia being torn down. Also that the muni wishes to move the road to the rear of the properties which is how the road is on the eastern end of the beach.

I would like to contact you outside of this forum. We are very familiar with the area and would like to know what the latest information Marvin M. has at the Muni about the plano regulador and other things.

Can we and how do we connect??

    Stan,
    Two questions:

    1) Is your beach property to the east or west from the road to the beach?

    2) What past rain are you referring to? Are you talking about rain last week or when?

As Americans, we had no problem opening a bank account at Banco de Costa Rica. We showed the bank agent our our SA paperwork, passports and a few other ‘closing documents’ from our recent real estate transaction. We finialized the deal in less than 45 minutes, with a language barrier to boot. All in all
it was easy, despite our fears. Our debit cards and pin numbers were even given later to a gringo resident friend as we were leaving to come back to the states to receive them. Handled very well!
