I don’t know if you’re looking for English meetings or Spanish. There are many Spanish meetings all over CR. English ones are a little fewer, but still findable. I lived in Grecia and there are English meetings on Mon, Wed, and Fri at noon. This isn’t too far from San Ramon.

I also got an e-mail, recently, announcing a new AA English meeting in San Ramon. Unfortunately I didn’t save it, but if you’re going to be in San Ramon, somebody must know about it.

    Good luck.

    anyone had experience with

    http://www.renta4x4incostarica.com ?

    they look more affordable

    thanks[/quote]

I rented from them for 3 months a year and a half ago. Good, friendly service. Of course, I lived in EL Cajon, so they were down the road from me. If they had been farther away, who knows?

It could be I’m just overlooking how, but it seems that I cannot easily figure out just how many new answers to a topic there are and whom they are from. That is without actually opening the topic and looking.

That was one feature of the old setup that I definitely liked.

I had experience with a Garmin while in CR and unfortunately, off the main roads it often suggested routes that weren’t really there. 😳

    An addition:

First of all. I agree with lyncota, let tham empty the tank more often. And, truthfully, I just couldn’t bring myself to put the used paper in the basket. But, like David Murray, I am also am wondering, what’s a “Noro-type illness”?

Hi David, I was wondering too, have you done this?
    Do you know:
If I sent an order for prescription drugs to my mail order drug service, to be delivered to my NY address, will it be expensive (particularly duty) to have someone remail the package to Aerocasillas (I have an acct), and then pick it up in San Ramon?

Hi Scott, I need to order a external Slimline USB DVD drive for a notebook PC. It costs about $100 from amazon.

Besides shipping costs, do you know if there will be import duty? I’ll be taking it back to the US with me when I leave CR Aug 29.

Hi, and thanks for your input TXGringoTico.

Actually, just last night, I decided to not bring my Jeep, because it was too much of a hassle and too vulnerable to theft. Even though it’s all dented and beat up, it has about $20K worth of modifications. Heck, if I were a thief with any knowledge of cars, I’d steal and strip the whole thing. To see a list go to: http://www.4x4fred.com/jeepinfo.html#Jeep%20Info .

Anyway, I’ve decided to rent a GEO Tracker 4X4 for 3 months. It’s not my Jeep, but it’ll get me around.

Thanks for the answers. My question now is do I buy the INS insurance in advance or when I go to pick up my Jeep?

I do not plan on registering my Jeep in Costa Rica. My question is: Will I be allowed to bring it into CR? I will have it there for 90 days under a tourist certificate. It will still have NY/USA plates, NY Registration and NY Insurance through Geico. I would think it would be the same as if I drove to CR and then left before the 90 day limit. My question is do I need to get CR gov’t sponsored insurance or can Geico write the policy?

I don’t know where jreilly is located.

I’m in Croton Falls, near Brewster, only called “upstate” by those who live in NYC.

whew… $7800 for an ’02 Trooper. If I decide to move to CR, I’d need to figure out some expenses. One thing is my Jeep is a bit older, so that may bring the cost down some.

I also need to see how possible it is to get things repaired down there. Most of the parts are special order anyway, but will anybody know how to replace them? And, will the duty on those special order parts be prohibitive?

It’s a ’95 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited V8. Highly modified for off-road driving. See a picure at: http://www.4x4fred.com. (when I finish building the website there will be more pics, now there’s only one)

I would think it could get me anywhere a vehicle might go in CR, but actually from what I’ve heard, I think it’s tires and maybe other mods are too big for CR laws and would need to be changed if I were to keep it there.
