Getting into a legal battle anywhere is costly and time consuming.

Many people complain about paying legal fees. Lawyers are paid for their time, knowledge, and expertise, which produce the desired result.

Dealing with clients who are at a distance will take more time. Clients who are unfamiliar with the “system” or whatever framework the engagement with the attorney must operate within requires more time to explain, answer questions, await client decisions and directions.

I wonder if CR attorneys carry malpractice insurance similar to US attorneys? That would certainly help me decide the issue of title insurance.

We brought tackle expecting to surf fish at Nosara, especially at the river mouth where you can cross at low tide. No luck, and didn’t see bu one other guy striking out too.

The small town about 5-10 north of Nosara is Garza. Garza is a small, undeveloped, fishing cove. We took out a 21′ work-style boat with a fellow named “Nino” for a very reasonable price for 1/2 day. That was plenty! Roosterfish, Dorado, Yellowfin, bonita, all close to shore. I wouldn’t waste almost a thousand to go out running for an hour or so to troll blue water-did that out of Quepos, one fish all day!

Check out the Gilded Iguana website-they can connect you with Nino, his brother works there, and the Captain “Chiqui” they advertise taught him. The captain does not go out anymmore-back problems, and now he sells real estate.

    Have a wonderful trip!

We met a man scammed out of San Jose by he flat tire. Apparently “they” slice the sidewall starting a slow leak, then follow you until the flat on the highway and stop to help. One distracts and the other steals. As anywhere, never let yourself be distracted or split up from your partner. It is a shame, but keep your guard up.

In Nosara, we were warned to NEVER leave ANYTHING in the rental vehicle. Attempts to break in may damage the windows, locks, paint, they you get held responsible for.

As for driving, use caution. Paved roads were fine, but it’s hard to avoid the temptation to sightsee! On the dirt roads tthe biggest hazard we saw were the washouts on the sides that could quickly take you for a tumble. Just drive sensibly an enjoy your trip.

I have a question about practicing law. How can a US attorney get admitted to practice? Can I take an exam? Is there work as a paralegal if not as an attorney?

I just found this forum tonight, and already I must respond.

About a year ago I had a phone solicitation, likely from a “Buy Costa Rica Type” website I had put my info into. The salesman was aggressive, “Northern-Style” accent/pitch. He wanted 25K up front yesterday, would fly us, keep us 3 nights…..all that. Didn’t do it.

Now, I love C.R. and we are looking, doing research on buying. We just returned from a fabulous visit and are going back in March.

Few months ago, I get a sales call from, seemingly, the same salesman, same name and area code from Florida. Now, he’s asking for up front money investment in the “Launderama” like a classy laundromat chain concept. Anything liquid I could send? I laughed out loud!

Maybe this fellow changed jobs? But if this is the same outfit selling land down there they have lost all credibility in my opinion.
