Both Ticabus and Nicabus have an office in San Jose, call them for exact time. I believe there is a bus that departs from San Jose in the morning and arrives in Granada before dark. Taking one of these buses is the easiest and best way to get to Nicaragua, although not the cheapest. Best to purchase a round trip ticket as I have experienced the return bus selling out during holidays and certain weekends.

Bamboo is a wonderful renewable plant and should be more widely used here in CR. Guadua bamboo is the type to use for building, and it is super strong if cured properly with Borax, which I don’t believe is environmentally unfriendly as stated. In fact concrete is one of the most unfriendly materials to use, as the manufacturing process is one of the worst for the environment.

Yes, but I have seen new bamboo shoots sprout from a piece of the stalk that was cut into sections, as well as from the top third of a stalk that was placed in the ground.
I am wondering if young shoots would do the same if cut and planted in the dry season?

That’s helpful…I am in the Nicoya municipality. Who would be my best best bet to contact to learn the rules this area…an architect, builder, or what department in the municipality?

[quote=”Scott”]I believe it’s only 50M2 but I am not 100% sure… It’s been a while since I looked at that so this does need to be verified…

Thanks Scott…who would I consult to verify this?
I’m thinking of building a few separate 50M2 cabinas made of natural materials and connecting them by a walkway…and wondering if that would still keep me from needing permits.
