Well, this is terrible news for all of us who are doing business with Costa Developers. I hope everything works out for you. What are you doing in the meantime?

I was happy to see your post. I agree that these Developers are “Price Gouging”
Since you have built homes in Costa Rica before, maybe you would consider meeting me in Novemeber when I come back down to CR to discuss the possibility of you building my home? I will be interviewing builders when I’m down there. My homesite is in “Costa Esterillos” which is a Costa Developers project and I will not be using their services to build my home. This projest is in the Central Pacific Area. I’ve been talking to builders like you and they tell me that certain developers are “price gouging” and I will not buy into that nonsense. If you are a serious home builder who is financially in good shape with a good track record, references, etc. please feel free to contact me anytime. I am very serious and plan on building in late 2008. If interested, please let me know and I will send you my home phone number and email address. (I will check with Scott to see how we should go about trading that personal information without breaking any forum rules)

Hi, I read your post and I am interested in hiring a Costa Rica Builder to build my home in approx. 12-18 months. The property is in the Central Pacific area of Esterillos. The name of the project is “Costa Esterillos” The Developer is Costa Developers but we have zero interest in letting them build our home. We will be in Costa Rica this winter for a few weeks and we would like to see the completed work of some smaller builders who have done work in that area. Is this something you might be interested in? If not, do you have a builder you could recommnend? If you would like to contact me you can do so here on this site or I can send you my email and phone number.(First I would have to ask Scott because I think exchanging personal contact information is against Forum policiy, I’d have to check) I am going to be very careful about who I choose to build my home and so I want you to know that I will be interviewing several builders, I have no intentions on wasting anyones time, my wife and I are very serious people. If interested, please feel free to reply to this post…Thanks, I am looking forward to hearing from you.

This company is a joke.I experienced everything you all have posted here. I even told them that I owned property in CR (which I do) and I’d like to just come visit their property while down there and they promptly HUNG UP…..lol….some of these companies are amazing….They are not even savy enough to scam anyone so don’t worry….they can’t get you past the inital phone call….Get this, after they hung up on me a “qualifier” called me…Yes, right a “qualifier” and guess what he did when i explained to him what I explained to the first person????Yes, Bingo!!!….HE HUNG UP….without a word. I thought we were done but they have called me as much as two months later for a total of one dozen more calls. Listen, ther are many good companies down ther to buy property from. When someone treats you rude, just hang up on them if they are too pushy or improper in any way because that’s what they plan on doing to you if you are not putty in their hands. Been there.

The easiset way to find out what spinal decompression is is to just
    “google” it
you’ll find all the info there.

And in the neantime members, I just had a temporary “Spinal Cord Stimulator” trial start on my back last wednesday. I have been suffering with a severe cevical and thprasic injury for 2 years. The “stimulator” is doing great so far and it’s been a few days now… I had horrible back, neck, arm and leg pain which has been reduceD almost completely. So, if any members are curious or are suffering CHRONIC (it must be over 6 months) then you should look into this procedure and you may contact me if you wish.

    Scott,
thanks for the “heads up” on this character who took your $2,000.00 It is good to know that you are always out there watching our backs
Scott, but don’t you have anyone watching yours? I’d like to know what service he was supposed to provide for you and why you trusted him with 2 grand if his references were not quite what you expected they should be? I am not trying to sound critical, no way, you have helped me with your personal advise many times and the welovecostarica web site is a big service for all our VIP members and I’m sure thousands trust you as I do, but, i find it somewhat strange that this guy pulled this crap knowing the amount of readers you have and knowing your reputation.. He certainly closed the door to ever do any biz with any of us. Please let us members know more details if possible if you can and if you cannot I thank you once again for exposing this jerk.

    Take Care Scott,

Things are going ok…I’m relieved to know that finding a good contractor to build my home will not be nearly as difficult as I thought. As soon as I clear up some personal things going on in my life I will plan on building my new CR home.

We stay in a nice hotel downtown called “Hotel Balmoral” It is safe, clean and right on Central Ave. in the middle of downtown…Plenty of shops, restaurants etc. within feet of the hotel…No cars on the street in front of the hotel, foot traffic only.

Hello everyone! If anyone is applying for “Rentista” status and is having a difficult time getting the bank to write the letter for you please let me know and I will post the letter I got from my bank and you can copy the model and present it to your bank so they have an understanding of what you are asking for. You only need this letter for “Rentista” status. If you are applying for “Pensionado” status I am pretty sure that you do not need this letter. What you will need is a letter stating that you are retired and your pension is $600.00 a month or more. This letter comes from the company you worked for who is paying your pension. In my case, I have a Social Security Disability pension and therefore I had to get a letter from the Social Security Administration. It was easy as one , two , three. I called the 800 number and they asked some questions electronically and then a live person came on the line. I told them what I was doing and requested a letter stating that I am on SS and the amount of money I received monthly and that was it. They said it should take about 10 business days for the letter to arrive. It was much easier than I expected. Be patient gang, these tasks are time consuming but they are not as bad as some folks would have you believe. Good Luck to all of you, any questions please feel free to ask as I’m learning more and more everyday.
