Write your response on MS Word, re-log into the site and then cut & paste. Many secure web sites or those requiring a log-in time out after a period of inactivity.

I am in the Seattle area and you could not even come close to building a home for $125/SF unless you provided all the labor yourself and went with the cheapest materials. Even the cheapest split level homes run $150/SF. A luxury home on Lake Washington or Puget Sound could run $1,000/SF. Most homes here sell for $180/SF-$200/SF and lots are as small as 5,000 SF. Of course, the majority of our lumber comes from BC and last time I was on Vancouver Island I was appalled by the massive clear cuts.

The larger Toyota Prado 4X4 or a van, both of which are available should meet your needs, but expect to pay about $800/week.

You can cut and paste articles into Microsoft Word and then use the translation function into your language. Although I can read and understand Italian relatively well, it is much more streamlined to translate it this way until I become more fluent.

I certainly appreciate Scott’s “in your face”, non-politically correct style. We could use a lot more of that in the new Tyrannical Socialist Republic of America, formerly known as the United States.

In our travels to CR we have rented a Daihatsu Terios, a Geo Tracker, a Kia Sportage, a Toyota Hi-Lux and a Toyota Prado. All the other vehicles besides the Toyotas had insufficient clearance and power. We will always stick with a Toyota 4X4 with 200,000+ engines.

Stick with Toyota. They are dependable, 200,000+ mile engines and are ubiquitous in CR.

There is a very high concentration of US expats in Nosara on the Nicoya Peninsula, a suburban like community strated by Cali. surfers in the 60’s. In San Jose, I believe that the highest concentration of US expats live in Escazu & Santa Ana.

Brutal honesty is better than the politically correct beating around the bush bullcrap manner we have adopted in the US. No need to apologize.

Thanks elinder. That is what I suspected. Once I made a deposit over $10K, which was dumb on my part (pressed for time) and had additional SUGEF paperwork. This concerned me so I asked my attorney what this entailed. His response was that it will be filed away and likely never see the light of day.

    Scott:

If the accounts are in the name of an S.A. and the S.A. address is that of the attorney in Costa Rica that created it, I would expect to hear from the attorney when this information is requested since all correspondence reagrding the S.A. is sent to his office. Correct? I will be asking my attorney about this, but appreciate your expertise.

I can remember the last swine flu “pandemic” when Gerald R. Ford got innoculated on national TV. Since then we have had SARS and other avian flus that affected a very low % of the population vs. 1918 Spanish borne flu when 50 million died.

They have samples at CDC in Atlanta they are looking at already to determine if the TamiFlu vaccine needs to be modified, but we won’t hear about until way after the “machine” is set in motion. It is becoming he norm the more we cause an imbalance in earth’s ecosystems and continue to genetically modify our mass food crops (incudes livestock).

5% seems to be the norm in CR for whoever brings the sale to the owner. Even if it is two people they split it. Some of the realtors charge 6%, which is customary in the US (6% on 1st $100,000 and 3% on the balance is standard).
