We received our medical in Puntarenas at a cost of $20. The guy we hired drove us down town and took us through the process, running back and forth between all the different offices. He did overcharge us, but we were glad to get it done, it would have been less if we had driven our own car, but we would have been frazzled by the time we got to the licensing office!! By the way, we also took him out for lunch!! LOL!!

It’s not hard – about a four hour process, be prepared to sit in a lot of line-ups. You have to apply for your first time driver’s license in San Jose. We paid a fellow $30 to drive us down town and take us through the process, but I feel it was money well spent. The first license is good for 2 years after which time you will be able to apply for your renewal at the license renewal office closest to where you live.

Yes Jason we did purchase a condo there. So far the experience has been positive, although they are running behind schedule. However, we did expect this when we purchased. If you need more info. you are welcome to get in touch with Scott for my email address, and we can go from there.

Thanks Scott. I knew I would get a straight and sensible answer from you. I hope this thread does not turn into a discussion about the sad state of American affairs.!

I feel pretty much the same way you do, that property taxes are not high enough. Having said that I do not want my taxes to go from $500 a year to $10,000! I don’t think I would be very happy if that happens!

I am Canadian, and I am not dictating to you what you can discuss on this forum. I don’t care, that is Scott’s job. I choose not to read any more of your posts. However I am interested in all things pertaining to Costa Rica, and I don’t believe Arar is one of those things. Bye the way I am very happy and content, which is why I take your rants with a grain of salt!

Are you talking about the poster boy who took the Canadian taxpayers for %10 million? This is not the forum for discussion about him!

Aaronbz, while I do agree with most of the posts on this forum, I do take offence that you think I am am stupid and ill educated because I disagree with your politics. So you please do us a favour before boring us with your political views.

Well, Martin is no longer the prime minister of Canada, thankfully, we have a PM now who has a lot more common sense.

Unless you have a laptop with you and have Sling Box I’m afraid you’re out of luck.

Too funny Scott! i thought you were knowledgeable about all things pertaining to Britain and the Commonwealth, being the good Brit that you are. To Canadians this is the football event of the year, and way better than any NFL game! Sorry, American friends. http://www.mirroreyes.com/knowledge/ref/sports/greycup1.html
