Yes, I read that article four months ago…. I assume Contraloría is not any closer to signing the deal or we would have heard something.
hoovenMemberHey, sorry I’m late on this,
I’m very familiar with Vista Las Palmas & builder – I bought a VLP condo preconstruction & also one at Vista Azul. I’ve had nothing short of an excellent experience with VistaCR.com & the builder. Vista Las Palmas is very close to being sold-out (2 or 3 left out of 50). I assume you already made your decision but my investment has appreciated big time & when the project is complete it will go up even more. I have no intention of selling but it is a good feeling seeing the successful investment! Jaco has it’s issues but when you are on the VLP exclusive grounds all you will see is beautiful landscaping & a huge infinite pool that drops off into the ocean. The developer played a major part in getting the new beach cleaning machines that will sweep the beach on a daily basis. Not to mention, there will be 2 guards 24 / 7. You will forget you are in Jaco until you walk to your favorite restaurant on the main street… The chamber of commerce is alive & kicking in Jaco – five years from now a lot of the issues will disappear & property values will continue to rise. I THINK ITS A NO BRAINIER – YOU SHOULD BUY! Please let me know how you make-out?hoovenMemberNot all people from the north are “nasty people”. Cmon brother – the civil war is over! Btw, if or when you are in CR, Floridians are considered northern and have funny accents…

hoovenMemberI just contacted my developer (& it’s a big one) to confirm some facts that I wanted to post earlier.
1. At a recent charity event the Jaco locals were asked for a pulse check about the “development”. Almost all of them agreed that it was great for the community and the future of their children.
2. There is a LARGE % of Ticos investing in the Condo “boom” in Jaco. The wealth of the Costa Rican upper class was highly underestimated in this thread.
3. A large % of these “$20 a day jobs” are made up of Nico’s not Tico’s. Apparently, these jobs in Jaco are saving people from starving to death in Nicaragua. Btw, $20 a day is not accurate either.
I think all the intentions were good BUT it might be a good idea for everyone to get some facts together instead of constantly speculating on this site.
hoovenMemberLiving! & it was a supposed to be a reply to a previous note. I clicked on “post new message” instead of “reply”. Good conversation though. Don’t worry Imxploring, your points are well taken & I wish nothing but the best for the Costa Rican people and will continue to treat them with tons of respect. The number one reason that brought me back to Costa Rica is the warmness of the Ticos and the amount of friends I made during a short visit a long time ago.

Seems like I opened a can of worms here. All I was trying to do was disagree and reply to a previous post where someone was giving advice to another – they foolishly stated that Jaco was not a good investment. Anyway, you make some good points. I’ll be in Playa Hermosa for a week next Sat. 5/5. Lets paddle out one morning in front of Backyard. We can discuss further in-between waves…hoovenMemberThanks for your opinion. South Beach may have been a bad comparison!
I also came to Costa Rica to enjoy low cost, slow paced, simple life & most of all GREAT SURF. I saw an opportunity in Jaco & went for it – I couldn’t be happier with the results. Sorry you are so bitter about “development” but that’s life & it’s gonna happen regardless if you or I buy a condo in Jaco. Honestly, from the footage I’ve seen the development has been cleaning Jaco up in major way. They are even financing a daily effort to keep the beach clean & focusing on more police.
Just my opinion!
hoovenMemberI disagree
I’ve scene a lot of the same issues that were mentioned above in Jaco but as far as an investing in Jaco, it has been nothing short of a slam dunk for me. I purchased a pre-construction condo on the beach about a year ago & the equity is up close to $200,000.00. In addition, I bought another condo 3 months ago that I’m currently re-selling for over $100,000.00 profit. I’ve been working in the stock market for 12 years & Jaco is best investment I’ve ever made. In addition, the chamber of commerce is working hard to eliminate all of the issues that were mentioned. I see Jaco changing from a dusty surf town to a mini South Beach very soon.Sincerely
Happy Jaco Investor -
