I have watched your participation on this web for several months. I to am from Texas but have been in Florida for the past 18 years.. It is still good to communicate with fellow Texans. I own a home in Quepos (for the last 2 years). I hope you can make things happen in CR. We go 5 times a year and hope to go more permanently after the end of the year.
I think you will agree that this website is the most helpful thing going for info in CR. Thanks Scott
JonjafranzMemberNot to be tacky, But I live in the US and have a home in CR and the weather in CR is always great whatever it is!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

You need to spend a lot more time than three weeks to research building cost..There is no way you can know what the cost are in that short of time. I am a contractor in the US and also have a home in CR. Compare apples to apples wherever you want to live (Same as the US)jafranzMemberI live in the US and have a home outside of Quepos. I have been going to and from CR for the past 10 years and have not experienced any bad experiences. However I do know about watching my back. If you will pay attention to where you are and where you go, I think it will be OK. I live in a great location in Florida, but I know where to go and where not to go.

You are very lucky to have used Kattia and Russ or your purchase would have really been awful. I am surprised that Russ didn’t have you more prepared for the money transaction. I bought through them and was told about not using a credit card. My experience with them was less than 6 hours and I was off to Quepos in my car. By the way a (Hyundai Galloper) Their $250 charge is cheap.
JFjafranzMemberHave you read the articles by Margie Davis. One of her articles is about #115 of the ones on the welovecostarica website.
jafranzMemberI am a realtor and land developer in the US> I understand their reason for a deposit, to find out if you are interested and have the financial $ to follow through. However, I do not think it wise to send $ to someone you don’t know and have not researched. I own property in CR and love the country. I recommend going to the property without giving a deposit. If they are so confident that their development is the best then they don’t need a deposit.
JFjafranzMemberI own a home outside of Quepos/MA and live most of the time in the US (Not by choice) I have been going to CR for the past 12 years. This map (which I just received is fantastic). It shows more places and roads than any other map (hands down) It is the best for the $ than any other map and info. If you don’t buy it , (you lose)

I live in the US and also own a home in CR. I bought a 97 Galloper and the liability insurance is $60 for 6 months.
JonjafranzMemberIf they chuckle, look out. If Stewart Title gives you a Title Insurance Policy, then you have a VERY GOOD assurance of good title.
I don’t understand why they are lax because in the States the attorney gets a cut of the premium.jafranzMemberI bought a vehicle using Russ and Kattia in November 2006. Everything was done in a very professional manner. I would use them again if I was to purchase another vehicle. They made my buying experience easy
