I brought a 32 inch flat screen TV, and the agent just asked me for my passport and he put a stamp on it. He was not interested in looking at the receipt, which was less than 300 dollars. I assume that this means that I cannot get an exemption for six months, after which I can bring in more stuff..
jitenMemberNo Problem, They will make a copy of your new passport and keep it in their file.
jitenMemberVery well said, Scott….
jitenMemberI use a guy based out of Jaco. His name is Leo Varela. Very knowledgeble, affordable and reliable Well versed in English also. I have used him all the time as I travel to CR at least once a month. I have also hired him for all day trips all over CR. His number is 8982-3375 ( cell ), 2643-3435 ( Office ) Trans-Rojas Services.
jitenMemberThe Fiat money system and our need for instant gratification ( I want it now, I don’t care what it costs, all I need to know is how much per month?, attitude ) is the biggest problem. The Feds just keep printing more money, creating it out of thin air, and we keep paying the interest on this made-up money. What a concept.
“The creature from Jekyll Island” ( a second look at the Federal Reserve )is a must read. You can even see a talk by the author on youtube or google.
jitenMemberI got here last sunday and the drive from San Jose to Jaco was fine. It took me 2 1/2 hours to get here, including a few stops for coffee and the crocs at the Tarcoles river. I have never seen the river that wide. Also, a tremendous amount of wash-outs on the beach from the overflowing rivers . However, my friend got here two days before that , and it took him 8 hours for the same trip. I went to Caldera yesterday and all was fine. There is evidence of flooding in a lot of places but things are getting back to normal. No need to cancel the trip. Come on down and enjoy the Costa Rican Adventure.
jitenMemberYou may want to call Petra , she has a furniture store in Jaco, and is an interior designer. I was very happy with what she did in my condo in Bahia Encantada. In fact, she does all the furnishings in all Daystar projects, her number is 506-643-2767, tell her Jiten sent you.
December 16, 2006 at 2:47 pm in reply to: fractional ownership in Costa Rica not as popular? #180404jitenMemberHi Scott,
I have also wondered why Fractional ownership or Timeshares are not popular in Costa Rica. With the sudden explosion of Condos being built in Beachfront areas, many people are using them as investments and looking at rental income and price appreciation as a viable investment. Over the last few years especially the prices have gone up consderably. Do you think it is high time that Timeshares and Fractional Ownership might be a growth opportunity at this time. I have invested in quite a few Ocean front condos and was looking into this possibility as a growth opportunity. Any thoughts??

jitenMemberDaystar properties has Condos available for rent and they are right on the Beach. I have stayed there several times. Check out their website http://www.daystar-properties.com , and look at their reservation section. You can contact them and ask for Larry or Siria. You can also always take a taxi to Villa Calitas in the evening to enjoy the sunset.
