Hey, do you mean out the splash zone, or in a “free speech zone?” 🙂

I still shudder when I think about those “free speech zones” around the republican natl convention. That was disgusting. Our entire nation is supposed to be a free speech zone.

The US is in a desperate fight for its existence as a free society. I just hope and pray that someone like Ron Paul does win (yes I know it’s a longshot) or you know darn well we’re going to be bombing the heck out of Iran and who knows how many more countries. In just a few generations, we’ve gone from one of the most loved, to the most hated nation on earth. Even the Russians are pointing at us saying that we’re a threat to global security. Sadly, they’re right. It’s no wonder they (Russia) are putting new ICBMs into the ground every month and rolling out new nuclear subs as fast as they can. They’re probably assuming that we’re coming after them at some point.

Let’s all remember one thing: Hillary, Rudy, Thompson, Romney, Obama = Council on Foreign Relations members. The only candidate who isn’t is Ron Paul. I’m not saying the guy is perfect, but he does uphold and defend the US Constitution, which all in Congress are sworn to do. He thinks we should bring ALL of our troops home and stay out of other people’s business. What a concept!

Thanks Scott. I was wondering about that. In all honesty, I’m not even overly enamored with being “at the beach” per se. I think it would be nice, if it’s a vacation home, but I have to wonder.

Realistically, what would $75K US buy as far as a nice, little vacation place down there? That could be in the Central Valley or further West, where it’s a little warmer. Close to the beach is nice, but not necessarily mandatory.

Thank you again for all the great services you are providing. Personally, I can’t wait to get a chance to see Costa Rica in person. It’s more of a preparation for finding somewhere “nice” to live, if we eventually chose to move abroad. For now, I’m staying in the US as my “home”. I’m running for state office next year in Missouri on the Constitution Party ticket. We’ll see what happens 🙂

Uncle Sam (or actually the Federal Reserve) always has their hand out…or perhaps better put, in the pockets of every American (including me!) I even have to pay a “city” tax on wages that I earn while working inside a particular city. It’s where my office is located, but I do not actually reside in the city, yet am taxed 1% anyway. Go figure.

All – I’d like to again thank you for the advice. It’s pretty clear that the forum in general, is much like a small community. It’s great to see! I think that we’ll probably do a more “conventional” vacation with the kids in the spring, but my wife and I might try to make it there later next year. I will most definitely keep all the advice listed on the various posts so I can learn from all the valuable experience and advice that each of you have given. It is much appreciated. In the interim, I better start working on my Spanish. It’s pretty bad right now…but I can at least find a restroom 🙂

I would like to thank all of you very much for your great input and feedback. I think what we’ll end up doing is a “regular” vacation with our kids (they’re pretty young) in the early summer, then I’ll make an attempt at a trip to CR with my wife. We’ve wanted to take a nice, fun “grown up” trip together anyway, so maybe we can work out something like that. I already did my Disney duty this year, so I’m off the hook for a couple more years there!

Again, I really appreciate the info. In the interim, I’m working on forming a plan to look abroad when and if the need arises. For now, I’m still working with some good Americans who want their country back. I’m a member of the Constitution Party (3rd largest behind the “big two”) and running for a state level office next year. People say that “you can’t fight city hall” but in this case, I’m going to try anyway. Aaron Russo said that it’s time we stop worrying about being good democrats or good republicans. We need to start worrying about being good Americans. Amen to that!

    Deb,
I live in St. Louis and have recently gone to see an “environmental allergist”. He’s an MD, but has also picked up a tremendous amount of knowledge after finding a non-traditional (pharmaceutical) way to treat severe asthma on himself.

His website is http://www.ehacstl.com (his name is Tipu Sultan). He’s found some allergies and things for me that my family doc and “regular” allergist missed. When I was there a couple weeks ago, a lady was there with her son that had been on all sorts of meds for behavior and the like. I overheard her talking to another lady and saying how her son, for the first time, was off meds and doing great. Dr. Sultan has said that depression isn’t a Prozac deficiency. Yes, it sometimes is biochemical, but why are the neurotransmitter levels off in the first place? It’s quite often another issue that is causing the problem…he looks to treat the cause, rather than the symptom. I wish you and your son the best.

    Thanks Scott(s).

I’m honestly concerned that I don’t really have the means to facilitate an international relocation. My current job is pretty good, but in reality, I don’t have the ability to pick up and move without having something else lined up, as you can imagine. I think I may have to go back to the drawing board and determine how realistic it is to actually consider moving overseas to CR (or anywhere else). I have the feeling that unless I have a somewhat substantial lump of capital at my disposal, a move isn’t going to be in the cards.

I currently live in St. Louis, which won a wonderful prize of being the most dangerous city in the US. Of course, that’s per capita, and most people live outside the city, so its “actual” population is less than 400,000. Much of the city is very low income, run down neighborhoods that were nice 40 years ago, but are a step above a ghetto now. Needless to say, I live 35 miles outside the city in a nice community on a golf course. Sadly, there were some home invasions in this area recently, and last summer, someone was driving around in a subdivision close to mine, trying to entice kids into the car with him. Even Chicago’s Michigan Avenue (Magnificent Mile) is loaded with homeless people begging for money and such.

I’m sure many of you have seen the thing about the 2 kids that were recently found (the Missouri Miracle) that had been abducted. Very sad.

My concern is for my wife & children. So, they stay out of the city. They don’t walk around at night, even in our subdivision. My wife will go to the grocery store or Target etc at night sometimes, but very rarely goes to the malls or similar places alone at night. We live in a nasty world and unless you stay in a bubble, you must be aware of your surroundings. I stay out of the rough areas because I have no business there. That applies whether I’m at home or traveling. Although I’m capable of defending myself well, I’m also not interested in tempting fate.

    Amen to all that.

Yes, those links to Alex Jones are very good reading. I have his videos and definitely like how he documents what he says, rather than just tossing out opinions that are unsubstantiated.

December, 1913 was the beginning of the end for America (Fed Reserver) and I agree about the Kennedy issue. Robert Gaylon Ross wrote a book on the various people that killed JFK, Lincoln, and MLK. it’s worth a look. It’s heartbreaking to realize that the country I call home isn’t what I thought it was. Now, I’m concerned with raising my family in a place that is safe(r) than home (my city topped the US crime list last year) and where Reichland Security isn’t found. Very, very sad indeed.

This is the boat I find myself in at present. My wife and I are quite interested in potentially relocating to Costa Rica, but my question is how I go about securing employment etc. I’m a network security consultant at present, but am also working toward finishing a book that I began that relates to some of the issues happening in the US now. I will always love the country that I remember “used” be stand for something, but it’s only a memory now.

I wondered if one method to finding a way to relocate was to secure employment with an American company (Intel etc) that has offices in CR, or if there are any other, better ways. If anyone has any advice, I would deeply appreciate it. Thank you all very much. I wish you the best.

BTW – It’s 14 degrees F at the moment here. I don’t think I want to know how it is in CR right now 🙂
