kittyzeniouMemberIt all depends on your budget and what you want to do.
For nature and hikes and the closest views of the volcano, you just can’t beat the Observatory Lodge its in the park. Its cost about $135 a night for a standard room, there is hiking on site, horseback riding but no hot springs. On a clear night, your have one of the best views possible. They also give you a complimentary guided hike to a old Lava flow etc. you also are walking distance to Cerro chato (a really nice hike to the top), this also is free from the observatory. If you are a hiker thats $10 per person you will save per hike. The rooms are standard but are very clean and quiet, the on site restaurant and bar are pretty good but a little expensive. The road to reach the observatory is some what rough and while you don’t need a 4 wheel drive a high clearance auto would be nice
kittyzeniouMemberWe have heard of several stories of Gringos going to Caja hospitals and having long waits for surgery and other treatments, one of which recently passed away due to lack of care. Personally, I would not relie on the Caja. On the other hand CIMA and a couple other private hospitals are just great (probably better care then in the US). They don’t take Caja payment of course. They do take some US insurances including BCBS. If you don’t have private insurance here, I would go with the Regional plan and not the international one (I can’t imagine the headaches of getting them to pay in the US). With this said for any serious illness or injury, I would avoid the CAJA at all costs but would certainly go to one of the private ones with the most serous issue.

We are still looking for affordable tennis courts in Atenas area or even Grecia, any help?
FYI: there is a private court in Atenas but its not in the greatest shape, behind the baseline there is not a lot of room for a baseline game (it takes some getting used too to avoid slamming into it (fence on 1 side and wall on the other) and you will have to chase your balls as the containment fence won’t keep them in, we have lost a couple of balls in the wooded area there. Anyway they now charge 3000 colonies an hour for the court.
any help with located a decent court in the area would be greatly appreciated.
