We are a late fifty couple getting our residency papers in order. Problem was I am English, my long version birth certificate needs to come from UK. Been 2 months now trying to get it and have now found an excellent agency in UK bmd-certificates.com who can give Express Service for a Birth Certificate Long Version for 60 uk pounds sterling Express dispatch. For anyone who is originally a Brit living in Canada this info could be a time-saver.
Also Jan.06 we joined arcr in CasaCanada San Jose. Jorge there is the head of the New Membership, he put me onto the bmd people in UK and has been very supportive and helpful whilst we are getting our documentation together. Hope any of this helps others.
We bought our land 5 years ago and two winters back built a small 1 bedroom cottage overlooking the mountains south of Jaco Beach around Uvita, not exactly beach living as we are 150 ft. up with wonderful ocean views at the front and mountains behind us. We have managed to escape Canadian winters a little bit Dec. and Jan for past two years staying in our beautiful own piece of paradise. I have to say this is a Dream “come true”. We are now looking forward to retiring Jan 2007. As you said,,, don’t go to visit…. we just never want to come back so this year when we go for a few weeks during the winter it will be Summer before we return.
