Based on the positive feedback you two gave about Visual Link Spanish, I took a chance and bought the program…I find it AMAZING!!!
I had not taken Spanish since junior college (15 years ago)and I was AMAZED at how well it all started to come back with this program.
My wife and I are getting ready for a long term stay in Samara and I havent found anything which isnt extremely BORING….plus I have a VERY short attention span….With this program I can literally study for hours in a row at my own pace…and I WANT to keep going….
My kids even like to sit and watch Daddy study his Spanish….
THANKS FOR SUGGESTING THIS COURSE!!!
mbrydenthalMemberWe purchased a home for similar reasons and hired a property manager. We also list the home on http://www.vrbo.com (a vacation home website), we market the home as a vacation rental, but would give discounts for longer terms…
Keep the pricing low enough to keep the home rented but high enough to cover your cost and discourage poor tenants….
Learn the market….see what other homes are going for on VRBO.com or other similar sights…you can call me direct if you would like….
I have NO experience with the Atenas area, but my wife and I are property managers in the US… and own two properties in Samara…you can contact us thru our website
mbrydenthalMemberI would be interested in talking with Oliver….we already have a project manager to oversee construction…..and a builder-Ronny Bicero
We mailed some rough plans to our attorney in Samara, she should have them in a week…
Please have Olivier email me at matthewbrydenthal@yahoo.com
mbrydenthalMemberHas anyone used Dean with http://www.renta4x4incostarica.com for a cell phone rental out of Liberia???
mbrydenthalMemberSurf Fishing….What type of fish can you expect to catch off the north Pacific Coast, if you fish from the shore????
mbrydenthalMemberMarilee,
The drive from Liberia is about 1.5 hours….we stay the night in Liberia at the Best Western and like to head out in the morning!!!
Nice little drive to soak in the surroundings!!!
mbrydenthalMemberLowell,
Samara is south of Hermosa, about midway between Tamarindo and Mal Pais, highway 150 ends in Samara….I would talk to the Century 21 or ABC Real Estate as to what is currently available in the area..

Flagstaff, AZmbrydenthalMemberWe bought in Samara (Guanacaste)….the road from Liberia Airport all the way to Samara was one of the best roads we saw in Guanacaste…..
Samara has a real local feel….We looked into some of the areas you mentioned and really liked Playa Hermosa and Playa Panama, but the town of Samara is a functioning village so you can do other things besides sit in an airconditioned condo in a gated community and look out the window…..after all, whats the point of visiting another country if you dont experience the culture??
ABC Real Estate has some villas/condos for sale called Samarillo, betweem Samara and Carillo beaches….
Samara also has many tours that leave from the town on a daily basis…
Our search was limited to the north pacific beaches all the way to Montezuma

Flagstaff, AZmbrydenthalMemberRobert,
We stayed at the Mirador for about a week…the places you have picked out look really nice….Make sure you check out Buena Vista Beach (for the sunsets) just north of Samara Beach. We rented a car and drove to Playa Coyote and Playa Miguel for a day trip, beautiful beaches but not much else there….we regret not being able to see Nosara and some of the beaches north…We had a 4 year old and 1 year old so it really limited what we could do…..

mbrydenthalMemberTHANKS FOR THE INFORMATION!!
A few clarifications….I apologize for my ignorance…
1)All my calls will be incoming from the states….being paid with a calling card on their end…..
2)GSM phone- Do you know who I can call to rent one??
3)CEDULA – is that the paperwork for the corporation??
Sorry—-but thanks for all the info!!

mbrydenthalMemberBigsnook,
We also requested information on Costa Monatana, we had to talk to a loan officer in Florida, and then this guy kept calling me, we recieved a packet and a nice DVD, RED FLAG #1 the salesperson was way to pushy, I told the salesperson, that were not interested in that area of Costa Rica, RED FLAG #2 Sales rep got mad when I told him i wasnt interested he said Ive wasted his time and also asked why I requested the packet in the first place. Not a good experience which gave me more reason not to look into that developement…
I also sell real estate (Coldwell Banker, FLagstaff AZ)for a living and know this is not how you treat a customer especially someone buying in a forign country for the first time,
we visited Costa Rica and did some exploring….we met with numerous “agents” most did not impress me…..we did end up purchasing a home and a lot in Samara through ABC Real Estate….they were very knowledgeable of the area we wanted to purchase in…
My suggestion to you is to plan a trip do some exploring based on what you require in your purchase and talk to A LOT OF PEOPLE while you are here…if you are not completely comfortable…DONT DO IT

mbrydenthalMemberRobert,
We just got back from Samara and are returning to close on a house we purchased downtown!!
At first we werent crazy about Samara, but the town grew us….lots of great places to eat, our favorite was an AWESOME BBQ place on the northern end of town right on the beach “El Lagarto” another great place for fish casados was “Sheriffs” right next door to the police station…..
The beach at Samara is good, great for swimming and the little ones, however there are no waves to play in…there is also a lot of loose coral in the water which you have to walk over….the beaches north (Playa Buena Vista-for sunsets) and South of Samara (Carillo) are much more attractive….and much less people
The town itself has everything, and has a real local feel to it…
We also visited Montezuma, Playa Coyote, Junquillal, Avellanes, Tamagringo, Playa Del Coco and Playa Panama, we liked the town of Samara the best!!, but everyone is different!!
Where are you staying??
Matt
mbrydenthalMemberWe heard from a local that the population of Samara is about 600 people….
We too just purchased a property in Samara, because we fell in love with the little town!!
mbrydenthalMemberThe family and I just returned from Samara…we stayed at the Mirador which had excellent views of the ocean…but had a lot of steps to go up and down….
We are headed back on April and are actually staying at Hotel Samara Beach, due to its proximity to the beac and downtown…
You may be saving some money by cooking but you will also be heating your room at the same time and there are many fine restaurants in Samara that are very affordable!!!
mbrydenthalMemberMy family and I will be taking a shuttle leaving Liberia headed to Samara at about 8pm…it will cost $100
Please let us know how your night time commute went….our last visit we stayed at the Best Western and rented a car….but we would rather stay the night in Samara…
We have a 1 year old and a four year old..
