Was not CRBill talking about wood ?
I don’t think he would paint his wood frames and arts….as good as the paint could be !!!:lol:MinuitMemberMy cement walls are painted yellow and orange… never seen any spot 😉
I too love geikos and the sound they make. My friends who see them for the first time cannot believe how loud they can be.
CBill have you tried liquid dish soap in water ?September 13, 2010 at 11:50 am in reply to: name of the C.R. org. that supports homeless children #202128MinuitMemberDoes anyone know the name of the organization that buy’s and sell’s property with the profit’s supporting the poor and homeless children in C.R.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but I think Scott and CRF were referring more to a realestate company who buys and sells properties and not to the link you gave.
I’m sure your organisation is very good, and maybe they know what the lady was looking for, but as far as I am concerned, I hardly believe any realestate agency in Costa Rica would do business to give their profits to anyone.
Have a good day Yvette !!!MinuitMemberNever seen any store or business charge more because I was using my credit card. Most business like hardware, clothes or furniture stores will offer a 5% discount if one pays cash. In the end, it is the same, but it is not illegal even if there were a new law…
MinuitMemberWhile you wait for someone to help, you can put them in a little box with a towel. You mix one cup of milk with the yellow part of an egg and a tablespoon of corn syrup, or honey if you have, and give it to them with a syringe or o toy baby bottle every 2-3 hours.
After a couple of weeks, they will start eating by themselves
Good luck !!!MinuitMemberAs for skyrocketing prices in that area? I think the prices are already high… but a high price for one is a good deal for another…
MinuitMemberI think next public school year starts end of January or beginning of february. That gives you some months to travel the country, rent short term and see where you would like to live for a longer time.
Was it a mistake but 3 hours from S-J gives you a good choice of places, although without a car.If you are here long term, it is always a good idea to spend some time visiting, make contacts before ou make a decision.
Good luckMinuitMemberI don’t know about the Ipad, but 2wice I brought the Cybook from Mobipocket, a nice light ebook, and 2wice it broke.
I had many books downloaded and no way to read them anymore once in CR, very annoying.Don’t know if it is the salt air, or hot weather, did not use it enough in Canada to compare. Now I will either change for another brand, or just come back to paper books.
MinuitMember
Oops, sorry, salamander!
Minuit on a forum, a few years ago it was ‘discussed’ with many pro’s and con’s that when one hires anyone to look after a property they should pay their CAJA/INS but of course most people don’t, but if an accident happens on your property, you could be held responsible.
How long since you applied to build?
Also hope you manage, to get your land taxes reduced, as that is getting to be as bad as Canadian taxes! Well almost…
You are right CRF, one should pay seguro, and I do pay the employer part and the employee part for my full time guard and gardener where I have a house built. I was never asked and never thought about paying it for the gardner where I have only land and he works only a couple of days every month. I should offer him as his next raise.
About the taxes, I don’t pay half of it on a 20 000 meters with construction in Canada. Don’t really know what to do about it in Costa Rica. I’ve had all kind of trouble getting my concession because I have always refused to pay any tip to anyone. Maybe that is what got them a little mad at me. We shall see how it turns out
JoMinuitMemberSalamander, I bought a 1000meters lot on a beach near Parrita in 2002. Still struggling with the concession and construction permits, so nothing built there.
I have no water or electricity fees yet and the only expense was the gardener who keeps it clean and watch precaristas. I pay him 30 000 colones a month, 13 months a year. Plus the municipality taxes which used to be 150$ per year, and now that I just had the concession granted, it raised to $ 2000 a year.
I am trying to fight this right now, but I don’t see many solutions.
Hope it helps
JoMinuitMemberI live on Central Pacific area, far ennough from Peninsula de Osa… The wild life here counts white face monkeys, howlers, iguanas, butterflies, many types of heron, garsas, spatulas rosadas, pelicans, parrots, macaws, squirrels, crocodiles, scorpions sometimes, snakes, well for short, I could say it is pure jungle…
The problem is this is a very secluded beach, mostly residential. No hotel or B&B, very little for rent…no english spoken, little far away from everything…One has to be ” TARZAN ” at heart to live here :!::!::!:
MinuitMemberMy property is on a pacific beach, no need heating the pool water. Actually I could use a ice block delivery once in a while 😆
I have a 1000 meters lot and a 125 m2 house, 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms. No A/C but 7 ceiling fans. A 2 rooms guard cabin and the swimming pool bodega. That is all the construction.
I use a gaz stove, not electric. I have a washing machine, no dryer and I have no water heater in the house (which I miss a lot but only in october and november) That might explain the difference between 130$ bill and 300$ bill though…
I’ve read here somewhere that the cost of Kw electricity raise with the more you use, so maybe what I save with the gaz stove and no dryer helps with the cost of the swimmingpool pump. My highest electricity bill ever for a month was 57000 colones and I thought it was very expensive !!!! … and as I said before, when I am out of the country, my bill goes down to 15000 or 18000 colones. I finished building at the end of 2007That is my 2 years experience, hope it helps you make a decision
Good luck
JoMinuitMemberI have a 20 000 gallons swimming pool, and run the pump nearly 6 hours a day when I am there.
No A/C and my total electricity bill never went more than 130$ for a month.
When I am not in CR, the pump runs only 3 hours a day, and the bill declines to 60$ a month. In that time, only the pump runs and a few lights turned on at nightHope it helps
JoMinuitMember
i got a kick out of this article. i’ve already implemented some of these suggestions on my own, but it is certainly food for thought. jejejej
Don’t laugh Maravilla, I kind of agree with the idea, I think it is very wise !!!
MinuitMemberI did not know we could use the Constructiones principales for more than one building.
I used the construction adicionales for the swimming pool, this is how I got the that value.
I put 60 meters since that included the cement terrasse and the building for the maquinas, maybe I should have put 75, which would be higher value. I used the PI02 option. I will try again with everything, just for funAnd FWI, 100M colones doesn’t mean 600 000$ but little under 200 000$. the math is 100 000 000.00 / 575 and not multiplied, sorry about that.
Now again my question, do we have to include all the adornments in the value at first or only if the value of the main buildings goes over 100M ?? I heard different points of view on the subject.
In any ways, my property doesn’t range for the luxury tax with or without all included, nor does it cost or worth according to the real estate value.
