You can own it, but you cannot buy it in the States. A helpful link to see charts, values and progress of gold is Kitco.com

Yes the first building is a shell and slated to be their offices. I bought a unit there and am still waiting. Some developers chose to pay the chorizo and apparently thats how they greased the wheels. I get my info direct from the developers.

Suggestion: If we cant expose the bad guys can we extoll the good ones? How about a separate page for: Good repairmen, contractors, dentists, lawyers, carpenters etc.?

That would be great. Perhaps you can get a CR Prosecutor to weigh in? Surely we have to think of something to protect ourselves. The deck is already stacked against us being foreigners. I have seen to many good souls defeated and return to their homelands because of these vultures. Good Luck Scott. Keep us informed.

I have tons of proof too! Of course you are not privy to it. I understand your position but I am sure if this Abel guy was asked he would have a different spin on it. Wish there was a way we could expose these guys without jeopardizing your forum. Can we simply say,
“I would not recommend Sr.XYZ as a lawyer, developer, dentist?” I have seen people say: in this forum, don’t go to this hotel, rent-a-car, etc. and have identified their names. Whats the rules Scott? How do we do it, because we must do it!

I agree with the security of gold, however in the States you aren’t able to possess bullion, only coins. For that I purchased in Canada and brought it here in my possession by plane. Yes you have to declare it if its over $10,000 but its not illegal; it is currency and the declaration just a formality. The value has since quadrupled!

Okay Ripple let me see if I’ve got your advice. Not only can I get scammed by con artists, then I can’t talk about it and warn others?? That is exactly what the criminals want right? Sounds like the Cosa Nostra to me! That kind of passive tolerance makes the crime rate what it is today in Costa Rica…hence the legislation. Sorry I’ll take my chances and did. My references included my government and prominent North American organizations in this country. If that law had any teeth I would have been charged by now because the people I told called the lawyer on my behalf. Methinks its just another tactic to put up and shut up.

I have just learned that the final step for the “permiso” is now in the hands of the municipality and they expect approval within a week. The first building is built (the outside structure).

Well I win! After duly slandering this lawyer to anyone who would listen and having the Embassy and Casa Canada calling on my behalf; lo and behold I got all my documents back, the crooks didnt even file my birth certificate! I also got an apology and am told I will receive a complete refund. My advice: Don’t be frightened off by crooked lawyers threats of lawsuits for your slander, speak up, get mad, and get action. If this law had any weight I am sure they would have tried to stop me, but obviously it doesn’t.

The saga continues….I went to the law office and demanded my documents and a return of all fees. He hid like the worm he was and had a junior lawyer and secretary tell me the file left with another lawyer. When I contacted the other attorney he maintained they still have my documents. I told him of my plans to inform the Embassy and the Colegio and he agreed to go back to the firm to find my file and agreed to return my fees. “Corruption and evil occurs when good men do nothing”. I told them both I was intending to tell this story to anyone who would listen. They can try and hit me with slander but the truth would bury them and they know it. They have a deadline to return my documents by Monday or Im going down there with the police. It’s blatant theft.

You can bring your pets as long as they have updated shots and a vet’s letter stating their shots and good health. You have to buy a standard airline carrier and your vet will probably suggest a 1/2 tablet of Valium to keep them calm. Its a harrowing experience for them but worth it. They should be fine.

Contact and complain to the Municipality office, they have large trucks that periodically collect large garbage, branches etc. that the regular garbage men do not handle. Good luck!
