With all the products from China lately that have been tainted, it’s starting to seem like chemical warfare going on. So far our Gov’t is not making much of a to do about it, so it seems like they are getting away with it. My next door neighbor lost his dog, because of the poisoned pet food, and quite a few others in the local newspaper.
PegMemberIf your dog is not small enough to fly in the cabin with you, you can not ship it in cargo at this time of year. The Airlines won’t allow it because of the heat.
PegMemberThis has nothing to do with race, as far as I’m concerned. They could be from China or Mars. When they start killing our pets and tainting our food source, and we’re scared to death to brush our teeth, I’ve got a problem with them. The U.S. government is to blame also for allowing this to happen. If they were doing their job inspecting we wouldn’t have this problem. On top of that we have over a $200 billion annual trade deficit with China. What’s the gov’t doing about that, obviously nothing. Anyone who is not a little bit afraid of our food sources these days hasn’t been paying attention.

China is taking over everything. The U.S. annual trade deficit with China is more than $200 Billion, (that’s with a “B”) . China makes parts for Boeing 757s, and the two largest American auto parts makers have factories in China. That doesn’t begin to cover other areas that they dominate. I hope they are not weaseling their way into CR.
PegMemberIt’s really hard not to buy something from China anymore. Everything I pick up says “made in China”. They say that by the beginning of 2008, that China will overtake the U.S. and become #1 in manufacturing and imports through out the world. This country is going to hell in a hand basket, and the basket was made in China!
PegMemberThanks Alfred.
I’ve been using Colgate toothpaste all my life, and that’s a long time, so I didn’t want to have to switch. There are so many things I have stopped eating or using because of recalls lately. I’ve used Colgate in the little squeeze bottles for the last couple of years, they are made in the UK. I’m not holding my breath for the FDA to get to the bottom of anythng, it’s because they only screen about 1% of the products that are coming into this country that we are having this problem. Hell, they can’t even keep track of the things manufactured or grown in this country.
PegMemberCheck your toothpaste again. Five ounce tubes of Colgate toothpaste have been recalled. The tubes in question were sold in U.S. discount stores in Pa, Ny, NJ, & Md. The toothpaste was packaged in South Africa, and that should be printed on the side of the tube. These tubes contain the same poison that’s in anti-freeze originating in China as before.
PegMemberweather.com, the Weather channels site has radar for CR. There are also a lot of other sites that have a lot of comprehensive weather info for CR, such as MSN, NOAA, etc. If you do a search of weather radar for Costa Rica, it will bring up quite a few sites.
PegMemberThe latest news is, China is rejecting some U.S. goods, (raisins and supplements etc.), bcause they do not meet their high standards. They are destroying or sending them back. Now they are trying to get even with us for the pet food, toothpaste, debacle.

Thanks for the info on Wachovia and Banex. In the U.S SunTrust doesn’t charge anything for using their ATMs, no matter how many times you use it, however I just got a notice that they are going to charge $5.00 for any transaction out of the U.S. Once I’m ready to move to CR, I will have to change banks to get my SS check transfered to CR the cheapest way possible. I won’t have any reason to keep an account in the U.S., once I leave, because I will be selling my home.
PegMemberJerry,
Are there daily limits or any limits on how much you can transfer? My bank, Suntrust is now charging $5.00 for using your ATM card outside of the U.S.PegMemberIf it wasn’t for the Real Estate market, I would probably be in CR right now. As far as taxes and insurance go, the Florida State Legislature is working on that right now. They are considering several options to lower them, but knowing the way the political process goes, I really don’t think it will amount to a hill of beans.
Maravilla, have you buried St. Joseph next to your sale sign? We can only pray for a miracle.
PegMemberCR is smart. They want to make sure the people that choose to legally live there, have enough money to live on. They can keep track of the rest, by their comings and goings every 90 days. At least they have an Immigration Policy that seems to work for the most part, instead of having 12 to 20 million illegal aliens, with no money, sucking up all of their resources.
PegMemberThey have been tracking these guys for 1 1/2 years, and they are still trying to recruit, and find a way to get explosives. My theory is, this may have been a convenient time to play the Fear Card again. The Prez is pushing his border bill, and the GOP base is fighting him on it. This may be a way of reeling them, and everyone else back in, before he leaves the country for a couple of weeks to attend the G8 summit. Just a theory. It wouldn’t be the first time this Admin. played that card.
