I wish the US would adopt the same immigration laws as Costa Rica and Mexico.
With regard to legal residency status, I was surprised to see how much outrage that Arizona laws caused in Latin America, mostly Mexico, but everywhere I have gone in Latin America I have hyad to bring my passport with me and prove that I am in thr country legally. I really don’t have problem with that on either side. You gotta follow the laws wherever you are.

There are a lot of really good options for schools. I think once you find your school then neighborhoods will come into focus.

I am not sure what kind of a lifestyle you want but $1700 for a couple might be tight, especially if you are renting your accommodations. Not saying it can’t be done.

Life expectancy seems to continue to grow and I believe a large part of that is better nutrition. I grew up in Iowa, and I can tell you nearly all the farmers I knew were using hybrids. We ate a lot of that corn raw in the field, probably just after they sprayed, I don’t know. I was a kid and it was delicious. I think someone can rationalize a conspiracy about just about anything, if they try really hard. I know a few folks that truly believe Santa Claus is a corporate shill. That may very well be, however I think it is pretty benign.

Make the choices that make you happy. To GMO or not to GMO, to stop using antibacterial soap or not, to brush you teeth with only baking soda, to only ride in people powered vehicles, whatever the case may be, if it makes you feel good, go for it. For me, I just can’t really concentrate on all of that. In the end if you say, “Boy, I wish I wouldn’t have eaten that GMO eggplant in 2010” then I guess you have your answer. Gotta go, now I want a hot dog.

Well I am 100% certain that this is not the largest waste of money in the US government.

I have a Lenovo (formerly IBM). I understand they have local support but I haven’t had to use it.

Our family has been living in CR for a year, we had a daughter 6 months ago at CIMA and our oldest goes to school here. It has been great for our family. We are expecting to stay another year and a half and are only going to move on to try our next adventure.

Both my wife and I telecommute so we can work from anywhere. Not sure where our next move will take us but I am sure it will be hard to beat our experience here.

I guess I am in the minority, when I say that I think that there are plenty of people that will pay for this content. I would love to see the forum stay free but however you go Scott I am with ya. I have been living in CR since January and have used your site a reference several times. I can’t imagine taking this on for free for as long as you have and, in fact, I have more than once said “what’s in it for this guy”. Kudos for getting paid for work done well.
