Thanks Marvilla, I will try mentioning you, I seem to have a hard time getting responses from her, I’m sure she must be very busy with everything. Can I ask what name you go by? I’m guessing that it may not be “marvilla”.
I’m getting a good number of puppies brought to my attention, but I’m still hoping to help with a rescue, so I hope this can work. Thanks again,
    Mark

Thanks for the offer to try and connect me with the folks with the puppies. I’m going to hold out a bit longer to see if I can help out with a rescue. I am in contact with your friend Marvilla, she does seem to be very busy and the process of communicating via email is taking a while, but I’m hoping that something works out. As tempting as a Lab Pup is, I imagine that they are breeding to sell, and I need to see if an adoption is in the cards first, but thanks for the offer, I’ll let you know.

    Great, I’m on it!

[quote=”maravilla”]underfed? they eat better than most people! and those are actually boneless leg/thigh pieces so they are quite large, and those get cooked with sweet potatoes, carrots, squash, lentils, a little rice, and green beans. and that stew only lasts about 4 days!!

I’m right there with you Marvilla. We make our dogs food with oats, pollo molido (ground chicken) the ends of our broccoli and kale, carrots and we bring down nutritional yeast, lecithin, and sea kelp from the States. We make it every four days or so, and if anyone is around when we are cooking it they always think we’re cooking for ourselves. It’s more expensive then using the local crappy dry food, but way cheaper and WAY better then the canned food which I “wouldn’t even give to a dog” where ever that line ever came from.
Just to add my two centavos, if anyone plans to move down here for the cheap water mellon, TURN BACK NOW! It’s one of those ploys that they try to lure you with, it’s not true! But I did just eat a whole bowl of Mangosteens bought at the ferria in Quepos,I think they are still illegal to import into the States, or cost a few buck each. Ummm, mangosteen juice running down my chin.

I just got back form a great sustainable building workshop at Ranch Mastatal. They have done various natural building techniques at their place in the mountains between Parrita and Puriscal. Check them out at: http://www.ranchomastatal.com

From what I’ve learned, they are pretty versatile with temperatures, but I will keep looking into that…

Maybe blocker isn’t the real term to use.
I am on a Mac, and the one I use is Netshade, and IP Blocker.
Sounds like the same thing that you are already using.
It costs around $20 per year. I tried the free ones, but none of them would work with my Mac.
I have had the service go down for a day here and there, other then that, it has been great.

I use a “blocker” to be able to use both Hulu and Netflix.
I find the new locally available Netflix to have far less offerings then the US version.
A new discovery for us which has been pretty great is ustvnow.com
You must NOT use a blocker, since it remarkably seems to be for those of us outside of the US.
For free you can watch the three networks live as well as a few other channels.
For pay, you can access many more.
The downside is that you get all of the commercials as well, but hey, it’s free.

Thanks for the quick reply! I agree that Swissol looks great already. Is there any chance that you still have the names of the other companies that you checked into? Thanks for your time with this….

Thanks very much for that link, I just got off the phone with Guillermo and he will be sending me some information.
Did you check into any other systems here?
I ask because he quoted me a price that was higher then I expected, and I am wondering if you found any others to compare pricing with.
    Thanks again, very helpful.

Thanks Bill for the invite. It sounds like he is putting in panels to generate electricity, rather then producing warm water for his pool.
There are specific, and much much cheaper panels used for this, and those are the ones I am seeking if anyone knows who sells and installs them here.
    Thanks again.

in reply to: Thanks to the Folks at Residencyincostarica.com #162166

Javier and Mayanye recently helped me get my residency, as in “inversionista” using our real estate purchase.
They did an excellent job, and I could not have been more pleased.
A very important note on this, while the law presently allows us to use our real estate as an “investment”, according to Javier, that will be going away in the next couple of weeks most likely, so we are meeting up in San Jose to get my partners paperwork filed in time to use the law, you might want to spread this news.
This law was a new one, with the last changes about two years ago, and it looks like the new director is going to be doing away with it.
    Again, love their services.

Jessica, I just saw your post, and sent you a “personal message” with my email address. Love to hear back from you.

I haven’t gotten a quote recently on a 20 footer, but my understanding is that the cost is around 75% of the cost of the 40 foot, so it’s not really an efficiant way to do it cost wise. I’ll check again and see though, thanks for the suggestion.

in reply to: Best place to buy bromeliads? #173057

That’s a great offer, and I will let you know. I am hoping to plant a variety of types, and wonder if you have found anywhere that is a good source, a vivero maybe that carries them. Specifically I need those that can tolerate a decent amount of sun. I am hoping to find some that put out a very tall flower spike when they do flower. I have seen them many times in Florida, and have just begun my search here. Any help in finding a source will be great! Thanks.
