Where are you? That will help us to know if we have someone in your area that can help.

in reply to: How expensive is Hospital CIMA? #159851
Hopefully, pranaspakeywest, the OP, when he has time will let us know how his partner made out with CIMA, if indeed he had to go there.
Thanks for asking.
We ended up dodging the hospital bullet. His numbers were below 100 for a day, we held off for one more day and they went back up.
Of course we will never no if this happened on it’s own or not, but , I did read on line that Papaya Leaf Juice can be very helpful, and so I used our juicer to create some very bitter, very green tasting juice, and one way or another his platelet count rose after plummeting for 7 days.
Thanks for the info.

Thanks Scott, for the reply.
Did you have a very low platelet count?
I ask because the reasoning behind hospitalization is when platelets fall below 100. The normal range is between 150-45o, then a doctor here is obligated to suggest hospitalization.
I agree that there is not much that doctors can do for Dengue in and of itself.
However, when platelet levels fall below a certain point, and I’m not sure what that is, they do consider procedures such as blood transfusions and platelet replacement.
I am only speaking from what I have read, and not from a place of knowledge.
Back to the Cima question, do we know if the cost is on par with US prices, or well below?
We are going in for another blood test this afternoon, and if it is below what it was yesterday, already below 100, then it looks like we are headed for a hospital.
Any info from anyone who has a similar situation, we’d appreciate hearing from you.

in reply to: Bank Letter for immigration, thoughts? #163982

Thanks Andrew,
I’m sorry to keep bringing up the same point, but you included:
“Upon the written request and appropriate wiring instructions from Client, Bank Name (“Bank”) can transfer funds to a bank account to be opened by Client at a bank in Costa Rica.”
If you have a C.D., you can’t transfer funds from it.
Is your bank saying that you can? or that you can transfer from another account?
Or is it being ambiguous? That’s where my problem occurs.
My bank is not willing to be ambiguous.
Sorry to keep asking, but this is the main issue here.
Thanks for any help.
I put my money in five-year CD with Citibank and I had no problem. I gave my banker the letter from my immigration attorney and he typed it exactly as I needed it. I’m not sure what the problem is with your bank.
The problem is that the letter requires a statement that says that funds from the account will be transferred each month for five years. A C.D. would not allow this.
Did your bank state that you would be transferring money each month, using the account?

in reply to: I rescued baby hummingbirds, need help. #158801

Thanks, I’ll check it out.
Yea, the egg whites are for the protein that they need, and I guess the yolks will make their asses look big?!?

in reply to: Anybody know how slow Immigration is? #203622

Thanks, I know about ARCR, and I am considering them.
I did speak with an immigration attorney a while back. I found out about him through the discussion forum, or perhaps an article here.
When I spoke with him, I’m pretty sure that he was in Los Angeles. Does he sound familiar?
I’m pretty sure that he is Tico, and that he also has people in Costa Rica thta he works with. He seemed to be highly regarded through WLC.
Anybody know who I am referring to?
Also, do we have any conclusive knowledge on whether or not we can obtain residency as an investor using our land purchase and building costs?
Thanks.

in reply to: Anybody know how slow Immigration is? #203620

I am also beginning my residency process, or at least looking to begin.
I realize that this has been covered in the past, however, I am looking to get an updated recommendation for an immigration attorney.
I am already living here, doing the 90 day thing, and I am ready to throw my hat into the ring.
Of course I want to se if there is an attorney out there that can get this done quicker then sooner.
Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

in reply to: Intolerance in Canada? #166377

Solely on your comments made on the Muslim issue, I need to post this, originally aired on the TV show, The West Wing, right after 911.
” The Muslim extremest’s are to Islam, as _______ is to Christianity”
The answer being “The KKK”
I think this is a very accurate way to illustrate a point.
That being that Islam, like any religion is mostly made up of kind, well meaning, albeit mis-directed, people, and should not carry the burden of the extremest that make the news.

in reply to: Peacocks in Costa Rica #165152

Any chance of finding out where you got yours?????

in reply to: Peacocks in Costa Rica #165149

This is all great info, plus the other stuff that I am finding on line.
We are still building, so we are not ready quite yet.
In advance, does anyone know where we can get a few chicks later on, here in CR? I see that there are many different breeds, but I doubt we will be all that as long as they are healthy.
Thanks.

in reply to: Peacocks in Costa Rica #165146

We have over 7000 meters, so we have plenty of room, lots of trees etc.
We do have some coconut trees around, but do not plan to use them as weapons in any way.
We are however on the border of the national park, so we want to be sure that they will not stray to far, into the park that is, and even more importantly we do not want to adversely affect any of the local wildlife.
Any thoughts?

Thanks all, it sounds like we’ll find what we need when we get up there. I now officially release my post to those of you that feel the need to change this into a political thread…….
