Cars/Salary/Switzerland/Costa Rica/real estate/ & Milk in just 8 lines of text, wow!
rafaeloMemberHi Sprite, I was trying to make a point that paying bribes to a police officer no matter how small the amount might be, have the potential to convert a fit and honest man into a fat and corrupt one who abuse of his power..
I was not trying to compare Vzla. with CR. those are two totally different s countries.
rafaeloMember17 Years ago I was driving out to the beach in Venezuela with my fiance, now my wife and mother of 3, when suddenly I was randomly stop by “Guardia Nacional” and was asked for my papers, all except the yearly medical driving test were fine, I was asked to follow the low range officer to a small room where a fat and big officer was sitting on his desk, he started to menace me that the car will be towed to a municipal parking lot because he would not let me drive without the medical test, he also told me that we were about 20 Km far from the next town and walking with a young girl would be “very dangerous”… Making a call was also not possible becase the phone was “broken” so he said.
After a pause and looking at my scared face he startet to explain that there is an “easy way” to forget the thing.. but well of course nobody should know, I ended paying him at that time the equivalent of 200$ to let me drive my car with my wife, this was one of the moments of my life were I really fellt humiliated and without a change to fight back, and the only time in my life (thank good) I was forced to pay directly to an officer..
I don’t believe paying the underpaid police officer would be better, this is how a criminal career start, I’m sure that fat officer began with just small bribes, after doing this for a short time he realized that this way he would make more money and started to abuse of his power in a grotest way.
I would tell the officcer to organize and claim better salaries from the goverment instead.

rafaeloMemberI agree with Ibarnon on this, if the new draft get approved it will only punish those who are trying to obey the laws, I believe the middle class is the motor of the economy, many countries have benefit from good, working and honest emigrants, I hope they reconsider the amount needed it does not make sense to park 300K$ for five years for only one rentista Visa.
rafaeloMember🙂 I read that too
rafaeloMemberIbarnon why would you say that the only ones taking advantages of CR are the Nicaraguans/Chinese/Colombians & Venezuelans?
Apart from the Chinese don’t they all have something in common?
like, they all speak Spanish, have strong bonds by just being a Latino, are neighbors countries & their food/tastes/humor & family traditions are very similar, so from my perspective its kind of reasonable you are seeing more an more of those nationalities coming to CR, in fact a “gringo” who does not integrate in the CR (or Latino) culture and learn their language is more out of place than a Columbia/Nicaraguan/Venezuelan is, in my opinion your comment is rude towards some nationalities.
I don’t and will never approve illegal immigration and I can somewhat understand your statement since we Latinos tend to be very “creatives” finding ways to avoid immigration formalities, but please be aware that Latin America integration is due this century, thank good because it is about time that we start to be able to defend and be proud of ourselves as Latinos.
I wish you come safe home & that you learned the positive side of the Latin culture and their language you will need it here in the US as well.

rafaeloMember@ sumaSAL,
real estate is a HUGE CHAIN working for the positive development of a country and their economy, aside to be the dream for everyone to be able to have a nice home to own and live, also please show more decency and respect towards people, being poor and retired doesn’t meant to be an abuser, I know people like you very well hating everyone because you have not realized yourself as a productive individual, the sooner you leave your immature positions towards the people the better your future will be, I’m also curios to know how much YOU make per hour.rafaeloMemberHi Imxploring, yes me, wife and my 3 minor son/daughters, no matter how often I water my money tree in the back yard it is not producing 25K$ a month 🙂 5K$ is a lot of money still is much less compared to the monthly sum we need to keep the family happy with the “basics” needs in the US, no luxury just food, home & education.
regards rafaelrafaeloMemberHello to all, anyone knows what would be the monthly amount for a family of five applying for rentista if this new Draft get passed?
5.000$ x 5 = 25.000$ ? that amount does not sound realistic, let’s wait and see.
Saludos, Rafael
rafaeloMemberFor whatever its worth, reading back my replies I kind of feel bad acting like a Nazi telling everyone to shut up when commenting about Chavez/Venezuela, everyone should be free to express his opinions, for me neither Bush/Chavez are helping the world with their acting, I really wish some future president could exercise the power just in the very middle line that those two are doing now.

Don’t come and say that the article was written by the CIA, Those are Official numbers backed up by the Venezuelan agencies, and being familiar with criminality in Venezuela & Chavez’s abilities of faking numbers in his favor I could adventure to triple those statistics , please STOP speaking nonsense you all who defend Chavez come to me like frustrated communist, and you really have NO idea of the Venezuelan reality.

rafaeloMember@ Sprite, why dont you inform yourself about 18 death and hundreds of injured by Chavez/G2 snipers & clash forces in Puente Llaguno? is that for you enough force to stop a civilian protest? I foresee this conversation will have no end.
rafaeloMemberTo all the US and expats fellows, angry about their own country and economics policies, and that only know about Chavez because of populist press articles that defend him because of personal interest; and do not know in the flesh the suffering and Drama Venezuelans are Living now under the regime of Chavez please refrain to comment ridiculous statements that he is doing good for the poor people and his country, politics is not an easy theme to debate, my opinion is that BOTH Chavez & Bush are despicable crooks.
Stating that there are no torture or political imprisonment under Chavez mandate is a HUGE ignorance about the reality of Venezuela, especially when is it a fact that Chavez is being surrounded & protected by The Cuban intelligence G2 forces and not by Venezuela own intelligence agency which he dismantle in fear and distrusts of his own people. There is so much to read and learn before making such bold statements.
I was born and raised in Venezuela so I speak with property, a beautiful country with a Huge potential that everyone wanted to move and live there 30 years before, since the 84’s I saw the country coming down way BEFORE Chavez got into power but I can also tell that Chavez is no good for the region and this historic challenge we are all now into.
At least I would expect some people in this board to be more humble when they make statements about Chavez and the reality of Venezuela, and not show such an amount of ignorance about the reality in my country.
In time of crisis the best is to calm down, so please stop comparing like kids that Bush is Bad and Chavez is good, it does offend the wast majority of Venezuelans who are suffering now the tragedy of a tyranny and collapse of their home country.

rafaeloMemberHi I was curios and went to their web site and downloaded their PDF document with the Architectural fees examples, I believe you got confused with their prices, what they are saying is that the normal architectural fees for a 2500sq. feet home are 119k$ and they charge 35K$ so you have a “savings” of 84k$ if you go with them… I don’t know them nor I have ever build a home or been in CR yet, so I have no idea if 35K$ for a 2500sq. feet home in architectural fees is a normal amount or else..but 119K$ sure is an exaggeration, at least for a normal folk like me. take care.
