    Ruth,
Not Ideal but very nice….If you have dsl access, look into getting a SlingBox (under 200 usd ) from Sling Media http://slingbox.com/ . I have one setup at my daughters house in the states. When traveling I login and watch TV just like if I where in her living room. There is no monthly fee on the Slingbox but you’ll need to have it sit on top of a cable or Tivo, etc…

For just movies you can try Vongo. Not a great selection but, not bad… http://www.vongo.com

    Cheers,

I agree with all of the above…
But lets not be blinded by a poor messenger, paradise does have it’s problems… I routinely see wholesale use of weed killer where moving is not possible. Our developer assures me they do not… Its hard to tell sometimes what’s in those sprayers… But, I can sure smell it.

Sorry to hear you got burned.. It could have been me. I’m not always the best judge of character either…

Any hooo… Not sure if they can help but Charles and Jeanetta Owens are very knowlegable with Grecia rentals… They run a B&B and do long term single family home rentals on the side…

I understand the frustration with used car rental companies. But they do serve a niche market. We spent 6 weeks playing expat in one of renta4x4incostarica’s geo trackers (w/cell phone package). They met every expectation and kept every promise. Had we used Avis or Hertz (as in previous trips) we would have paid well over twice and risked a 1500+ deposit.
For a short stay or unlimited budget who cares spend the bucks go to Hertz, Avis, etc. Pick out the biggest badest off road wheels they’ve got.& But, if you’re: On an extended trip, property hunting or looking to catch a glimpse of local living, consider a used rental. Just remember you’re renting an older vehicle and managing expectations may come in handy. Take the money you saved and treat the kids to an extra day of offshore fishing and the misses to a spa treatment. They’re more likely to remember that than the car you rented.

    rz,
That’s good news… I’ll be down in CR for a few weeks mid June through July. I’d like to take you up on your offer. Its always good to have a name when you walk into a bank.

I’ll drop you an email with my local cell #, once I get in.

    Thanks again,

    rd

    rz,

I tried opening a BICSA account at their Miami branch. But was not able to without CR residency documentation. I had hoped to establish a banking relationship with a CR bank, “before” getting my CR papers in order. Not sure if that’s possible?

    Cheers…

    Betty,
Consider the beauty, gentleness and civility of CR, you’ll find it. Likewise expect oppression and it’ll be waiting for you at the bagage claim on arrival.

Regardless where you end up, whatever expectations you have will likely manefest for you. So why not? Cheer up…. Live a little… You’ve earned it…

    Pura Vida….
