ParticipantMost agricultural supply houses (Colono etc.) carry some seeds and bulbs but choices can be limited.

Thanks![/quote]
Yes and don’t recommend it, didn’t deal with a serious gum problem before going ahead with dental work. Didn’t even mention the problem. Like Prisma Dental a lot.

ParticipantAn official of the Immigration department in Liberia told us that you only have to cross the border, have you passport stamped coming and going – there is no time requirement.

ParticipantRemember that there are those in this world who are not happy unless they are unappy, that unhappiness goes where they do. Unfortunately too many have run to Costa Rica to find happiness only to find themselves!

ParticipantWe live in Arenal, using the new highway it is a 2.5 to 3 hour trip from San Jose to the lake and a 2 hour trip from Nuevo Arenal to Playa del Coco – suggest Playa Hermosa about 10 minutes north of Coco, it is cleaner and nicer than both Tamarindo and Coco beaches.
Have a fun trip! Bet you will love it.

ParticipantJust a heads up – when we arrived at Liberia with our two dogs the “official” in charge demanded a $40 fee to “process the paperwork” before releasing the dogs. There is no such fee but we paid just to get out of there.
In San Jose there is a very nice hotel that allows pets –
Villa del Rio, email address: villasdelrio.com, while we usually only spend one night it is an extended stay hotel.rf2cr
ParticipantAccording to Immigration office in Liberia it can be done, you apply to Departmento de Migration 15 days before your visa is due to expire. Since these things seem to change depending upon who you are talking to – I would double check.

ParticipantFrom a real estate professional I have heard the following: to qualify the $200,000 must be invested in a tourist or other qualifying business.

ParticipantOnce you get there you will quickly find out where the “gringos” hang out, frequent those locations and once there, say “good morning or afternoon”, very often good long term friends are made under these casual contacts.

ParticipantWe love living in “the lake district” near lake Arenal, it is cool year round (no ac bills) and near enough the beaches for a day trip – for $175,000 there are some extremely nice houses available.

ParticipantIt is a hard one, in California we live in a rural area and don’t know where are house keys are but just down the road in a small town my mother was robbed 15 or 20 times in a year. Last week in EPA a friend had his wallet taken – he forgot his rule and stuck it in his back pocket then a lady had her purse snatched at Pricesmart. She left the purse in her shopping cart while unloading groceries and even though she and her husband were only inches away the thieves saw their opportunity, grabbed the purse and were out on the pista before anyone could do anything. We have been here nearly 3 years and during that time I have been stupid and careless and lucky so far….working on the stupid.
Don’t give the thieves ANY opportunity, they have lots of time to watch for their chance and they don’t get distracted.
If I knew then what I know now would I make the move? In a heartbeat!

You can purchase them here if you don’t want to risk it – cost is high (usually around $2.00/lb), available at AutoMercados, PriceSmart and can order them at your local Pali.
