I’m sorry but I have no direct experience with La Suiza specifically. I have lived in Turrialba and have traveled through La Suiza many times but I have not lived there.

rkfooteMemberThere is a relatively small, compared to popular western CR towns, but rapidly growing community of English speakers in the Turrialba area. CATIE,which is located between Turrialba and La Suiza is an internationally renown agricultural/horticultural university with professors, students and staff from around the world.
Turrialba retains the charm of an agricultural town without the ubiquitous American fast food chains. However, it is large enough for a Home Depot style hardware store, numerous supermarkets (including one owned by Walmart), a large hospital and numerous health care providers. Most all of the Costa Rican banks have offices here.
The local Pacuare and Renventazon rivers are considered to be two of the best white water rafting rivers in the world.
The nearby Guayabo National Park contains the only significant indigenous ruins in Costa Rica.
La Suiza is about 15 minutes out of Turrialba with regular bus service. Turrialba is only 90 minutes from downtown San Jose and direct buses leave every hour for about $2 each way.
The Caribbean coast is approximately three hours away and the road traffic is significantly less than the roads going towards the Pacific beaches.
This side of Costa Rica is wetter and therefor much greener than the Pacific side.
Some familiarity with Spanish goes a long way but is not a necessity in this area.
Come and visit regardless of your interests in the area. It is a beautiful area populated by warm and friendly people.
Best of luck to you.
