“unnecessary war” is where we differ. I think it is a necessary war and one we will finish.

I love that you think I don’t read and only watch t.v. because I disagree with you. You are so much more informed than I because I disagree with you. By the way, was it your father who messed up the intel on this. If it was he should be fired.

Rebecca, you are accusing American soldiers of genocide, comparing American soldiers to Nazis and you claim your support for them. You have no moral clarity on this issue at all.

When this war is over, “what will we call it?” Victory… and no thanks to the left in this country.

Don’t disgrace American soldiers by comparing them to Nazis.

Simon, “Now the crowd wants out but of course it’s too late for that and it won’t happen.”

We both agreed that “going against the crowd takes courage”

Reading your words proves my point. I also love that the President’s opponents are so concerned about his low approval ratings and use those ratings as for reason to get out of Iraq. I understand that you don’t like the whole situation and that you think that President Bush is an evil liar, but you can’t fault his conviction.

…and now “the Civil War was a farce.” Wow! Now I am really against government schools.

upecity that was nice, it reminds me a little of what was written on an atheist tombstone; “All dressed up and no place to go”

David, I think people can save for retirement better if they do it themselves. As far as what we do. When social security started it was only 1% of income. Now its 15%. When it started the life expectancy was about the same age when you were aloud to start collecting your benefit. Now people can start taking it at 62. Life expectancy is almost 80. My solution for the next 30 years is to allow people to collect their benefit but increase the age to at least 72, and teach kids in our government schools to learn to save and invest. The system was never set up as a retirement plan, but a safety net. If you want to retire from a working life you have to save, invest and keep your overhead low. Social Security is a bad plan and now its a wedge between generations. People also need to take care of their parents, they took care of us when we were children. Its not a job for the government.

simon, your right it is not serious political debate, because Ron Paul is not a serious candidate.

“Going against the crowd takes bravery” I totally agree, and that is what George Bush has done all along. Leadership. He is attacked constantly and still stays the course. Lincoln was hated as well during the Civil War and he defined leadership.

upecity, I’m sure we agree on a lot more than you think. I like bumper stickers too, and your Jefferson quote comeback was “bloody brilliant.” I read them with a smile on my face.

upeCity, I agree all the way to your last line. To compare the two is absurd.

Sprite, Mao and Stalin also have their statues and images. If its communists you revere, fine. I’m not disappointed at all, that people think differently than I do. As far as “an army of like minded people on this site” goes, the hatred for George Bush runs deep. Its a hate that I don’t respect.

Reba: I don’t care one way or the other that Costa Rica has no standing army. It makes no difference to me. I come to this forum because I want to learn more about Costa Rica and the real estate opportunities there. I didn’t think it was for people who all thought the same way, walking to the beat of the same drummer.

As for William Walker, I don’t know why you bring him up, but I did read the article when Scott originally posted it. He reminds me a lot like Che and I can’t stand the likes of Che Guevara.
