I agree with davidcmurray. It’s the norm to have rolled back odometers in CR. If your going to be on the western coast make sure it’s a 4×4 in order to survive the “green season” I imported my Toyota 4 Runner using Barry at Ship Costa Rica. It’s not cheep, but Barry is honest, knows the system well and does what he promises. Get a good solid used vehicle at least you will know what you have.

I have a piece of land on the northwest pacific coast. I have spoken to three builders. Two builders said they prefer to build during the rainy season, the third wanted to build at the tail end of the rainy season. The reason they gave was the cement needs to be constantly wet down to cure correctly.

Mittizzi, Nosara is my favorite area of Costa Rica. I have been visiting for 10 years now and owned land there for 3-4 years.

You can still find land (15 min walk to Pacific) for under $75k but you have to do your homework. There are a few developments going up in the area. Large American and European population and very friendly, life revolves around the ocean, surfing, small businesses. The local Assoc has worked hard and been very successful in keeping the area low impact (no highrise buildings)

I have spent many weeks in Nosara during the past 7 years. Yes it is a very beautiful place, good surf, good vibe and a good mix of people. You can still get a nice piece of real estate to build on under $75.000, but you will be about 15 min walking distance to the beach, or about a 6 min ride.
